Even before Jihl had fully registered what he was seeing, he released his power.
The three hunting dogs were flung into the air. They slammed against the alley walls and hit the ground. None of them moved after that.
In the dim alley, lying on the ground, was Bao Bei. He was alive.
But more than the relief, Jihl was burning with rage.
What did you do to Bao Bei? Were you trying to kill my Bao Bei?
The two men rushed at him with swords drawn.
Jihl knocked them away with force, then slammed them down with pure strength. His anger couldn't be stopped. He unleashed the huge magical power he normally kept sealed away.
The sound of flesh being crushed and bones snapping rang out.
He was about to crush them completely.
But even that couldn't calm his fury.
"Jihl…"
Bao Bei's voice.
And just like that, all the rage melted away like mist.
Jihl rushed to Bao Bei's side. Bao Bei was lying flat on the ground, limp, he could only raising his head to look up at Jihl.
"Bao Bei!"
