Maybe because she noticed he was awake, the bedroom door opened and a maid walked in.
She was a woman in her late thirties, wearing a traditional maid outfit that covered her large, slightly plump body.
Her brown hair was tightly pulled back and tied up behind her head.
"Good morning. I brought you some water."
"Nina!"
Bao Bei raised his voice when he saw the familiar maid who always took care of him.
"That's right. It's me, Nina. I'm so happy you came back safely. We were all really worried about you."
Nina placed a glass of water on the small table next to the bed. Her eyes were wet with tears.
She usually smiled all the time and when she got angry, she could be pretty scary—but now there were real tears in her eyes.
Seeing them made Bao Bei's ears droop in guilt.
"I'm sorry for making you worry… and thank you for the water."
Looking at Nina's face made him finally realize—he was really home. The thought overwhelmed him, and tears suddenly started spilling out again.
