Chapter 11 - 11 Greedy dog

A dog found a big bone. He was happily carrying it towards his home on the river bank. As he crossed the bridge over the river, he saw his reflection in the water. But he did not realize that it was himself. He felt that another dog also had a big bone in its mouth.

Being greedy, he thought, "If I take this other dog's bone too, I will have two bones!" Thinking like this, he jumped into the water and started attacking the other dog. Soon his own bone fell from his mouth into the water and he got nothing. The reflection of the water disappeared and the bone also washed away to the river bank. Now the poor greedy dog was left standing with an empty mouth and stomach.

Lesson: By being greedy, whatever is in your hand also goes away. Happiness lies in contentment.
