Chapter 1 - What Do You Do When You Wake Up as a Foreigner

[Note: The Mc will become truly dark and ruthless by chapter 20, so if you dont like Evil Mc, dont proceed]

I was such a fool. Truly.

I knew dump trucks could send people to another world, but I had no idea even a computer short-circuit could do the same.

And to make it worse—this was the Marvel universe.

Reed sat in a luxurious car, staring up at the sky with a long, frustrated howl, though no brilliant stars greeted his gaze.

Once upon a time, he had been just a regular 24-year-old guy. Single. Ordinary. Living in Singapore.

Then a pop-up on his computer changed everything. That damned ad yanked him into a world not even dogs would want to visit.

"Do you want to know the truth of the world?"

What kind of crappy infinite-flow novel setup was this? Who made such virus ads for a prank?

The choices it gave him were:

A. Yes. B. Absolutely yes.

Being a man of sound judgment, Reed didn't take the bait. He clicked neither option, nor did he try to close the window using the top-right X. Instead, he shut down the power and planned to take the PC to the repair shop the next day.

But the moment he pressed the power button, a jolt of electricity surged through him, completely disintegrating his body.

Everything after that was a blur. The next thing Reed knew, he was in a new world, with a brand-new body. And just like many who had crossed over before him, he too had…

"Hello, Host. Please open your newbie gift pack."

A mechanical voice echoed in his mind. Reed let out a helpless sigh.

That's right. He had the stereotypical isekai golden finger—a system.

But even with this so-called cheat, Reed couldn't bring himself to be happy. This was Marvel, after all—the world where everything stacks. Everyone dodges lasers, reacts at light-speed, and endlessly scales their power levels.

And that wasn't even the worst part. The system he got had the audacity to be named...

"The DC Roleplay System, Host\~ biu\~"

"Don't you dare act cute with that dead, robotic voice of yours!!!"

Reed roared, venting his frustration, but eventually calmed himself down.

Life, as the saying goes, is like... being violated. If you can't resist, you might as well enjoy it.

"System, one last question—there's really no way for me to return to my original world?"

Before giving up completely, Reed wanted to make one final attempt.

"Affirmative, Host. Your body was fully disintegrated by high-voltage electricity..."

"220 volts can disintegrate a body?! You're basically admitting to murder!!!"

Reed forced himself to hold back his complaints. No point pushing further. If he wanted to survive in this dangerous world, he needed this system.

"Alright then. Show me your functions, System."

At that moment, Reed felt a small comfort. At least his system answered questions. Some protagonists had systems that went into hibernation or ignored them. Now *that* was true despair.

"The system manual is included in the newbie gift pack. Please check it, Host."

Reed took back his previous praise. This thing was just as garbage as the rest—he even had to read a manual.

But there was no choice. Reed opened the newbie gift pack as instructed, and the system's voice chimed again.

"Congratulations, Host, you have received: Roleplay Card - Alfred Pennyworth. Scenario Card - Gotham City. System Manual x1."

That was… barebones. Beyond barebones.

And why did the backs of the Alfred card and the Gotham card have the Yu-Gi-Oh card patterns? A monster card and a field spell? Was this thing actually serious? Was this some kind of joke?

"The system plays Blue-Eyes decks, Host."

"Shut up! Stop reading my thoughts!"

Reed was done. Other people's systems turned into cute anime girls or at least had sweet voices.

His? Emotionless voice, spouting nonsense like it was running on cheap humor. What did he do in his past life to deserve this?

Still, complaints aside, Reed carefully read the manual and inspected the two cards. He quickly understood how the system worked.

As expected from the absurd design, the system was very simple.

Just two words: Roleplay Mode.

Once a roleplay card was used, the host would transform into the corresponding character and gain that character's skills and knowledge. For example, using the Alfred card would turn him into Bruce Wayne's loyal butler, with all of Alfred's training and intellect.

Each character also had a "Roleplay Sync Rate." By acting in character, the rate increased. As it went up, Reed would unlock special forms or retain the character's powers even outside roleplay mode.

Take Alfred's card as an example. At 50% sync, Reed's base self could keep half of Alfred's skills, even after ending the roleplay.

And at 100%, the character could split off into an independent clone, retaining all skills, fully obeying Reed's commands.

Each card also came with a mission. Complete it, and Reed would earn a new roleplay card.

"So basically, I just pulled a white-rarity garbage card…"

Reed had read his fair share of isekai novels. Most of them began with the protagonist drawing Kizaru or Obito from Naruto. They got flashy powers and went straight to flexing.

And he got… Alfred. A butler.

"But thinking about it, with Gotham City as the scenario card, this might not be such a bad start after all."

Alfred alone was just a very skilled human—still inferior to real superheroes. But if he became the Wayne Manor's butler within Gotham? Now that was a different story.

At least he didn't have to hustle and scam poor Tony Stark right away.

With that thought, Reed stopped hesitating and activated both cards. The Gotham City card merged into the void. With a surge of energy, the landscape of New York state shifted. Next to New York City appeared another sprawling metropolis, plagued by crime—Gotham.

No one noticed anything strange. It was as if Gotham had always existed there, like it had never not been part of this world.

The Alfred card, meanwhile, fused with Reed's body. Ripples of energy changed his form.

His once average figure became leaner. His full head of hair thinned. A gentleman's cane appeared in his hand.

And most noticeable of all—his strength increased dramatically. This Alfred, despite being elderly, was stronger than Reed's original body, which had been youthful and regularly worked out. Comic characters truly were on another level.

But just as Reed opened the mission associated with Alfred's card, he felt something was off.
