In regards to what a torii gate and a honden was, all I had to do was ask Kinko. After doing so, I fulfilled my promise with him and left. Of course, not after giving him a gold ingot, and him giving me food and money—ryo coins and bills.
Storage? No problem. The inventory can extend food storage life. Not to mention, I needed to eat a lot to keep my hunger bar full. Oh, and, I discovered this thing called "saturation."
[hp: 20 | saturation: 20]
Usually, it would show my "food" status. However, thanks to this saturation bar, I could technically double my hunger bar. That meant more breathing room to take damage and regenerate.
Of course, my better trump card is not the saturation bar.
[Golden Apple x38]
Did I bring too much? I don't think so. I had an abundance of gold, and while waiting for the cave to fill up with mobs, I farmed some oak trees. Now that I think about it, I never really named that "labyrinth." I only named the portal room.
"How about…" Thinking of many names, I ended up settling for something simple. It wasn't really a grand build, after all. "Shinobi Cave" should suffice.
Shaking my head, I continued my journey. I was in search of mountains or forests. Either should suffice.
After some testing, I learned that the "Sacred Territory" and "Offerings" weren't complicated. A sacred territory is a place around nature. As for offerings, coins will suffice—according to the system.
The statue of Raijin was a bit tricky. I don't know what Raijin looks like, and Kinko only told vague descriptions. Thankfully, after some testing with my non-existence carving skills, I got a prompt.
[Statue of Raijin (low quality)]
It barely looked like a statue to me, but hey, as long as the system recognized it, to my inventory it goes. Oh right, I almost forgot.
I buried the new portal and terraformed the landscape around it. Kinko approved, he had no choice. Unless someone's crazy enough to dig all that soil and stone up, it'll remain hidden away.
Before I knew it, several days had passed. I only slept once, phantoms didn't spawn in this dimension. Traveling is fun. I don't get exhausted, and I get to enjoy the view. Fortunately or not, I haven't encountered anyone during my travels.
And now, I found a suitable place for the shrine I needed to build. Luckily, I brought many building blocks with me. Primarily, stone and logs. Building the honden was easy, it's similar enough to a simple hut. The torii was even easier.
Building the whole thing didn't even take a day. It looked… bland. I'm not exactly the greatest builder. But….
[(Inactive) Thunder Heart Jutsu — (Requirements: Torii gate (complete), Honden (complete), Statue of Raijin (complete), Sacred Territory (complete), Offerings (complete))]
Everything was marked complete. And yet, nothing happened. Did I have to wait for something to happen?
And wait I did—but nothing happened.
Scratching my head, "What to do?" I wondered. Going inside the shrine…
[Raijin Shrine - Low (1/1): The god of lightning and Thunder, Raijin, recognizes this place. (Lightning Chakra +1)]
"Huh?" A shiver ran down my spine, my hair standing up. Before I could process what happened, a new prompt appeared.
[Thunder Heart Jutsu (level 1): Blessed by Raijin, you feel as if your heart is as powerful as thunder. (Active, Consumes Hunger, HP+4)]
At the corner of my eye, I saw my hunger bar trembling. Then, with my heart pounding against my ribs, my saturation bar went down. Fast.
[saturation: 20 --> 18]
Heart dropping, I scrambled to deactivate the skill. Luckily, all I had to do was think about it.
[Thunder Heart Jutsu (level 1): (Passive, HP+2)]
[hp: 20 --> 22]
"Just an hp boost?" I frowned, rubbing my chin. Shaking my head, I set it aside. This was basically a support skill. I couldn't help but feel like I made a mistake.
"No use thinking about it now… but what does lightning chakra mean?"
Looking at my full status window, I focused on one part. A new panel had appeared.
[Lightning Chakra (lvl1) : (Empty Slot x1)]
"Does this mean… I can learn the ninjutsu of this world?" Looking at my inventory, I found the five scrolls Kinko gave me. Grabbing one and opening it…
{Lightning Style: Overdrive: …}
[Suitable Skill Detected. Equip? (Consumes Lightning Chakra Slot, cannot be undone)]
Seeing the prompt, I gulped.
"I really can learn ninjutsu…"
Raising my hand…
