Chapter 10 - 10. Indoor Shooting Range

Li Wei then remembered that it was 2004. In his previous life, if a gun store counter didn't display two Barrett M82A1s, they wouldn't dare say they sold guns.

Thinking that he would need to transfer goods from other places, Li Wei dismissed the idea of buying a Barrett.

He didn't plan to make a request, and directly asked:

"David, why don't you introduce a few guns?"

"No problem. For hunting, I strongly recommend the Colt AR-15, Remington M700, and Remington M870. These three guns have an excellent reputation in the industry. They are powerful, stable, and very suitable for hunting in the wild. Even if you encounter large beasts like grizzly bears, they have enough power to kill them.

For self-defense, I recommend the Glock 17 and the Browning M1911. They are both excellent handguns, whether for hunting or for dealing with people."

As David spoke, he walked behind the glass counter and took out the guns he had just introduced, placing them on the counter.

Looking at the five guns displayed in front of him, Li Wei's heart rate couldn't help but quicken slightly.

After all, this was the first time he had come into contact with real firearms.

He first picked up the Remington M700. It wasn't as heavy as he imagined, and the grip felt very comfortable.

As expected, it's one of Eagle Country's best-selling rifles.

Following the memory in his mind, Li Wei skillfully pulled the bolt, his movements natural and smooth, without any obstruction.

Putting down the Remington M700 in his hand, he then tried the other four guns in turn.

Except for the Glock 17 which felt slightly light, the other four guns were very handy.

He had already made up his mind that he would buy all five of these guns.

He would not entrust his personal safety to the law enforcement agencies of Eagle Country. When truly facing danger, the most reliable thing was the 'truth' in his hand.

The only regrettable thing was that buying automatic weapons in Alaska was more troublesome, requiring submitting an application to the ATF while also obtaining a certificate of no criminal record from the local sheriff.

After a whole process, he didn't know how long it would take, and he could only purchase automatic weapons manufactured before 1986 and legally registered.

Although the process for buying automatic weapons in Alaska is relatively complicated, it is already much better than states that prohibit the sale of automatic weapons.

Li Wei put down the M1911 in his hand and then looked at Jessica standing in front of another counter.

He saw Jessica staring intently at a handgun in the counter. The handgun was small and exquisite, only two-thirds the size of a normal handgun. The most striking feature was its pink body, clearly a model specifically customized by the weapon company for female users.

Li Wei walked to Jessica's side, pointed at the pink handgun in the counter, and said to David:

"David, take that gun out for us to see."

"OK."

Jessica only noticed Li Wei at this moment.

Although Li Wei said he would buy her a gun when they entered the store, she thought he was joking.

Seeing the current situation, Li Wei was really planning to buy her a handgun, and Jessica quickly waved her hand to refuse.

"Li Wei, you don't have to, I was just joking."

"Jessica, don't refuse so quickly. This handgun is a graduation gift I'm giving you in advance."

Jessica didn't expect Li Wei to remember that she was graduating this year, and instantly felt an impulse. While Li Wei wasn't paying attention, she kissed him directly on the cheek.

Li Wei was also startled by Jessica's sudden action, thinking to himself, "I was just kissed!"

Seeing this scene, David naturally turned his head away, as if he had seen nothing.

He was already used to this sort of thing.

Having served in the army for more than ten years, there wasn't any major scene he hadn't witnessed.

At this moment, Jessica's cheeks were flushed, full of shyness, and she was annoyed at herself for being so impulsive!

Li Wei lightly coughed to ease the awkward atmosphere, then pretended as if nothing had happened and said to David:

"Cough cough... David, can I test the guns here?"

"Yes, you can test them. I have an indoor shooting range here."

"Okay, I want to try all five of these guns."

"No problem, I'll take you there now."

"..."

Led by David, Li Wei and Jessica took the selected firearms and walked towards the shooting range in the basement.

The indoor shooting range was simply decorated and not large, with a total of eight lanes. Due to the limited space, the range was also relatively short, only twenty meters long, but it was barely sufficient for testing guns.

Li Wei took the bullets from David and began loading the five guns in an orderly manner.

Because Li Wei wasn't a novice, David only explained the safety precautions once and then stood beside Li Wei to prevent any accidents.

It didn't take long before all five guns in front of Li Wei were fully loaded. He put on his earmuffs, first picked up the Glock 17, inserted the magazine, released the safety, aimed at the bullseye, took a deep breath, and pulled the trigger repeatedly.

"Bang... Bang bang... Click."

The crisp gunshots echoed continuously in the shooting range until the final 'click' sounded.

After emptying the magazines, Li Wei felt refreshed.

This was the feeling of mastering the truth!

He pressed the button on the partition, and the target slowly moved towards Li Wei under the traction of the mechanical device. He saw that the bullet holes on the target were evenly distributed, with the highest being 10 rings and the lowest 7 rings, which was a good score.

David, who was standing nearby, showed a look of shock on his face when he saw Li Wei's score.

Such a score in rapid fire at twenty meters was relatively rare, even in the military.

Before David could recover from his shock, Li Wei had already started trying the remaining guns. For a moment, gunshots echoed one after another in the shooting range.

"Da da da..., Bang bang bang..., Boom boom boom..."

A moment later, all the bullets in the guns were emptied.

The most exhilarating one was the Remington M870. When shooting it, there was no need to aim at all, just pull the trigger and fire.

After Li Wei took off his earmuffs, he turned around and saw that Jessica and David were both looking at him with astonished faces. Before he could speak, David was the first to ask:

"Buddy, have you had professional shooting training?"

Li Wei was puzzled by the question. Seeing the other person's shocked expression, he quickly guessed why they were asking.

However, he didn't plan to explain. He couldn't possibly tell David that his body had been enhanced, his senses had been enhanced, and hitting a target was easy!

Instead, he answered David's question:

"Yes, I specifically practiced it in college."

"No wonder you can shoot so steadily."

"..."

Seeing that David seemed to want to continue asking, Li Wei quickly changed the subject.

"David, I'll take all six of these guns. How much is the total?"

Hearing that Li Wei wanted to buy these six guns, David was overjoyed and completely immersed in surprise. He no longer had the inclination to ask how the other person's marksmanship was trained.

The three of them quickly returned to the counter. David took out a calculator and began calculating the price of the firearms and ammunition.

Soon, he got the result.

It was a total of 13,850 us dollars.

Among them, the most expensive was the Remington M700 with a scope and accessories added, which cost as much as 2,300 us dollars. The cheapest was the Glock 17, which only cost 430 us dollars.

Hearing this price, Li Wei didn't think it was expensive.

Because he not only bought these six guns but also purchased matching ammunition.

The cost of ammunition alone accounted for one-third.

After confirming that the amount was correct, Li Wei and Jessica filled out their respective survey forms, paid by card, and then left the Free Defense Gun Store carrying the gun bags David had given them.

By the time the two arrived at the hotel, the sun had long since set, and there were more pedestrians on the road.

According to their initial plan, they had intended to find a specialty restaurant tonight and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Jessica might have had too much of a 'burden' on her, and she lay on the large hotel bed, refusing to go downstairs no matter what.

Li Wei felt quite helpless about this and had to call the front desk to have dinner delivered to the room.

...

The next day, after a hearty breakfast, the two drove back to Point early.

Soothing country music played in the car, accompanied by the scenery outside the window, as if it could cleanse the soul.

"Li Wei, thank you for staying. Lately, I've often seen Buck drinking alone."

How could Li Wei not guess what Jessica was thinking?

He was a top student from the University of Southern California, and suddenly he said he was going to stay in Point to be a fisherman. Not to mention Jessica would overthink it, any normal person would overthink it.

Li Wei did not intend to explain this. Could he possibly tell Jessica that he had a golden finger, could see schools of fish on the seabed, and that's why he decided to stay and be a fisherman?

If he really said that, he would definitely be considered crazy.
