When trying to use her powers, Fayre quickly found that the energy cage surrounding her disabled them. She tried to break the cage by hand, but the energy surrounding her was impervious to her fists.
It was hopeless; she just fell back, hoping somebody would come help. She sat for nearly two whole minutes as the cage surrounding her quickly began to shrink, caving in, trapping her in a certifiable death trap.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her vision, one of the hundreds of bodies scattered across the roof shakily got to its feet. It was hard to tell, but from her angle, Fayre perceived the body to belong to Trypon, the leader of one of the platoons of soldiers the Heroes Council had brought with them. This notion was confirmed when he spoke.
"Hey, asshole," he shouted, projecting his voice right towards Rune. With an audible sigh, the levitating hero slowly turned around to face (in his eyes) the dying man making a fool of himself on the rooftop.
"What do you want?" he said, shouting back.
Trypon smiled, despite the fact he was bleeding out severely thanks to a large piece of concrete wedged in his torso.
"You won't mess with my boss and get away with it."
As much as Fayre wanted to smile at his courageous attitude, she knew this kind of reckless behavior would get them both killed.
Rune rolled his eyes at Trypon, not wanting to waste anymore time on antics like his. He raised his arm once more, firing an insanely gargantuan ray of energy right at the spot where Trypon stood.
The explosion was enormous. It shook the entire building once more. Fayre cringed. There was no way he could've survived that blast.
And yet, when the dust cleared, defying all odds, Trypon still remained. However, his image quickly flickered before he disappeared completely.
Fayre, surprised, looked up at Rune. To her shock and amazement, Trypon was clinging to the floating man's back. Within a few seconds, Rune started shaking uncontrollably. It appeared that Trypon had electrocuted him. He fell motionless to the rooftop below, allowing the energy cage that Fayre still remained trapped in to dissipate, and her to escape.
She turned to Trypon. "Thank you. You truly are a critical piece of this operation's success."
Trypon shrugged, trying to keep it nonchalant. "No big deal," he said. "All in a day's work."
Fayre then turned towards Rune's body, which was now trying to look back up at her. She quickly stopped it though, pushing her foot on his head and preparing to attack.
"Now," she said. "Let's have some fun."
