With the sound of the door opening, an irritated voice, full of resentment, echoed in the humble and cramped apartment. "Damn it, I lost everything again!!! Sally, get me a beer!!!"
Thalia couldn't help but frown, hearing how the man dared to speak to Sally as if she were an 18th-century maid. She was also confused as to why Sally and Percy lived with such an idiot.
Gabe Ugliano appeared before her, and Thalia couldn't help but want to punch the man's fat, aged walrus face. He looked fat, like "a tuskless walrus in thrift store clothes," had a double chin, and was bald, except for three black strands he combed over his scalp. The smell of alcohol and cigar was so strong it filled the room, evident by the walls stained from long exposure to tobacco.
"This is my husband; don't make too much noise, kids." Sally smiled gently at Thalia, Godwyn, and Percy. She quickly left the cookies on the table and went to get a can of beer for her husband.
Thalia's face showed a shocked expression. How could such a beautiful, kind, and sweet woman marry a man like Gabe? The mere idea of kissing Gabe made her want to throw up all her breakfast. She couldn't believe Sally was actually married to such a bad man.
"It's his smell; it can confuse monsters." Godwyn commented calmly. He truly admired Sally; how many women could sacrifice themselves like this for their own child? But Sally had done it without hesitation. She endured being beaten, verbally abused, and practically made a maid by her current husband, all to provide a slightly decent home for her son.
"This idiot is talking to my mom like that again." Percy, who was already a fierce protector of his mother, said in an irritated tone. "He hits her. I've already told my mom to leave him; she and I can survive on the streets, but she refuses to do it."
Thalia and Godwyn's faces darkened instantly. Although Godwyn despised Artemis for her extreme feminism, he knew there were also many bad men in the world. Men like Gabe Ugliano were the type of men Godwyn agreed should be killed by Artemis.
"He hits her…!?" Thalia spoke with a clenched jaw, her blue eyes now sparkling with dancing electricity. What she hated most was this type of despicable man who didn't know how to respect his own wife. In her eyes, marriage was companionship and mutual respect; one helped the other, complementing each other as one being.
At the same time, she couldn't believe that anyone could actually mistreat such a sweet and kind human being as Sally. This made something inside Thalia's brain snap. "How dare this bastard!!!"
Percy was shocked to see electricity dancing in the eyes of the cousin he had just met. He tried to rub his eyes, thinking he was seeing things, but there were really small bolts of electricity in Thalia's eyes!
Without waiting for Percy's reaction, Thalia advanced towards the living room and quickly arrived, seeing Gabe sitting in the armchair with an open beer can and a bag of potato chips on his lap. Sally stood beside him, smiling, despite hearing rude words from her husband.
This made Thalia's anger even greater. Sally was too good for a man like Gabe, who should be treating his wife as his greatest treasure.
Thalia's arrival naturally caught Gabe and Sally's attention. "Who are you and how did you get into my apartment, you punk!" He asked in a rude and extremely irritated tone.
"Gabe, she's Percy's cousin who came to visit-" When Sally was about to explain in more detail, Gabe interrupted and asked in an even more irritated tone, "You're giving my food to this punk!?"
"It's just some cookies and juice-" Sally quickly explained, but was interrupted again by Gabe's roar.
"Just cookies and juice!? Do you have any idea how much I work to feed you and your punk son!?"
Sally's face hardened, hearing her precious son being called a punk. For the first time since meeting Sally, Thalia saw an overwhelming rage in the sweet woman's eyes.
But Thalia didn't want Sally to stain her hands with such scum. Taking a step forward, she looked directly into the eyes of the human garbage that was Gabe and spoke in a cold tone, "Who did you call punk, you filthy pig?"
Thalia used her power directly on Gabe's eyes; since the man liked to intimidate and hit his own wife, she would make him learn what true fear and terror were.
Looking into Thalia's electrifying eyes, Gabe found himself in a stormy ocean. The clouds above were as black as coal, and snakes of electricity danced in them. Hurricanes ravaged the sea and sky like a true apocalyptic disaster.
Gabe felt like an ant before the disaster; the fear of death and the simply terrifying feeling of oppression made his face pale.
Gabe was so scared that he screamed loudly and fell backward into the armchair, hitting his head on the corner of a small table where the lamp stood. A cut opened on his forehead, and red blood flowed from the wound, falling onto the floor.
Everything happened so fast that Sally had no way to stop it. She was shocked to see blood flowing from Gabe's wound. Although she hated to admit it, she was worried about this man and quickly approached him.
She sighed in relief, seeing that he was alive and it was just a minor injury.
"Sally, you don't need to worry about this man. I'll help you get a good home and give you enough money to get back on your feet and build a new life." Seeing the woman still wanting to help Gabe, Thalia said in a helpless tone. It seemed that Sally's kindness was greater than she expected.
At the same time, she felt that she had still been benevolent in merely scaring this fat pig. If it were Artemis in her place, Gabe would not have just a slight injury on his forehead, but would have become Swiss cheese with so many holes in his body.
Sally's eyes widened, looking at Thalia in shock. Her eyes turned red, almost as if she were about to cry. She found it hard to believe that a girl who wasn't even related to her would actually help when not even her own father helped.
Godwyn shook his head, looking at the scene. He sighed, and with a movement of his hand, Gabe's body returned to the sofa under Percy's shocked eyes.
"Shocked, seaweed brain?" Thalia asked with a touch of disdain, as if speaking to a country bumpkin who had just arrived in a big city. "In the future, you'll be able to do some similar things."
Percy's eyes widened, hearing Thalia's words. He, a mere Percy Jackson, a boy with ADHD and Dyslexia, expelled from four schools, could do magic?
"Sally, as Thalia said, we will help you and Percy, especially with the special situation with Olympus." Godwyn spoke in a calm tone. Having Percy in the New Gods was something he had always wanted. If there was anyone worthy of becoming a god, it was Percy Jackson, the human who denied immortality for love.
It wasn't just Percy Jackson's talent, but the boy's exceptional character that attracted the Norse God. Godwyn felt confident to give the Divine Position of the Sea to Percy. This was not a casual Divine Position, but on the same level as the Divine Position Nico would receive in the future, showing how much he valued this heroic, kind, and blue-food-addicted boy.
"What happened?" Sally asked in a worried tone. She still loved Poseidon, which was no surprise to Godwyn.
"Olympus and Asgard are at war; countless gods have died." Godwyn said in a calm tone, but Sally's face turned pale, fear hitting her like a strong hammer. "Is he…?" She asked with trembling lips and a vague hope.
"Don't worry, your former lover is fine." Godwyn spoke in a gentler tone, seeing the woman's concern for Poseidon. He felt that Poseidon had won the lottery by having the love of such a good woman. The bastard rapist of the seas definitely didn't deserve such an incredible woman.
A smile appeared on Sally's face. She sighed in relief, knowing that Poseidon was fine; she really didn't want to receive the news that he was dead. He was the only man who had treated her well in life; she always had a special affection and love for him.
"Can someone explain to me what's happening, and what are Olympus and Asgard?" Percy, who had crossed his arms, looked suspiciously at everyone present. This feeling of being isolated from the conversation was particularly irritating.
"You ask too many questions, Seaweed Brain." Thalia slapped the back of Percy's head and said in a superior tone.
"You T-Rex!" Percy practically growled as he prepared to fight Thalia again, or rather, get beaten by Thalia again.
Thalia's face darkened at Percy's words, and she showed a fierce look. "It seems you want to receive the 'fist of love' training again, Seaweed Brain."
Percy's face changed, and he quickly fled, taking refuge behind Godwyn while sticking out his tongue at her. It was just a strategic retreat; when he got stronger, he would definitely make Thalia regret it!
