Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Peter sat in his room calculating his money. He looked out of the window with a smile on his face remembering the last day in school.

"I am going to get more people to accept my offer." He said to himself.

"Peter! " His mother called.

"Yes, Mother, I am coming. " He said putting his money back into the envelope.

He walked out of the room to his mother. He bent to greet her.

"Welcome, my son." His mother said leaning on the table.

Peter smiled, looking at his mother, who held a paper.

"What is that on your hand, mother?" Peter asked his mother who smiled.

"I just got this from your school." She said.

"Mrs. Rivers, what is it?" Peter asked smiling.

"I am always proud of you, Peter." She said.

"Mum, go to the point," Peter said.

"Alright." Mrs. Rivers said unfolding the paper.

She hands the paper to her son, who covers his mouth while reading what is written.

"Wow, I was selected for the competition," Peter shouted happily.

"I am proud of you, my son." Mrs. Rivers said.

"I need to show this to Mr. Rivers," Peter said.

"Your father has already seen it." Mrs. Rivers said.

"Oh!" Peter exclaimed.

He smiled and ran off to his room with the paper.

Getting to his room, he picked up his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, Michael." He said immediately the call was picked up.

"Hello, Peter." The person on the other line said.

Peter began to tell of how he was chosen for the competition.

They spoke for some minutes then he ended the call.

He looked at the wall and smiled. He was so happy to be chosen for the competition.

"It's in two weeks." He said to himself smiling.

Minutes later, he got up and left the room.

He looked at the table and saw a small written note. He knew what it meant.

His mother always left a note behind anytime she was going out on weekends.

"She has gone out." He said to himself frowning. "They hardly have time for me. My sisters are not living with us."

He closed his eyes and walked to the table. He picked up the letter and hissed throwing it into the can.

He got up to get some food which he ate to his satisfaction.

He picked up his phone to check his messages.

Opening a message, he smiled, seeing one of his friends' messages.

"You are worth partaking in the competition. I just hope you will be chosen." He read.

"I have been chosen." He wrote back to Andrew, his friend who was online.

"Wow, I hope you will get their attention. Mostly the ladies." Andrew wrote.

"You do not have to say that. They all have the hopes of me liking them." Peter wrote laughing.

"I guess you are laughing right now." Andrew wrote.

"Yes, I am." Peter wrote. "Anyway, what are you up to?"

"Nothing much." Andrew wrote.

"Alright, I must go study." Peter wrote and moved to another message.

He laughed on seeing a message.

"She actually likes me." He said to himself.

He thought of playing along to make the girl, Diana, think he also liked her.

"Can I call you?" Diana asked.

"Yes, you can." Peter wrote.

His phone rang immediately and Peter answered the call.

They spoke for some minutes, then ended the call with Peter telling her that he needed to read.

Immediately after the call, one of his sisters' calls came in. With a smile on his face, he answered it.

"Hello, Sara." He said answering the call,

"Hello, Peter." His sister said.

His sister congratulated him and told him that she would be coming home in a few days.

They spoke on other things and made an end to the call minutes later.

Peter looked at his phone excitedly.

"I would get someone to talk with." He said smiling.

He thought of how his life always is with his sisters, especially Mitchell, who is the firstborn.

He dropped his phone and picked up his book to read.

Hours later, he felt tired and placed his book down to take a nap. He laid his head on the back of the chair he was sitting on and closed his eyes.

A few minutes later, he opened his eyes and looked at the clock.

He shook his head and opened his book, but he was not in the mood, so he closed it. He made himself tea and rested.

"I don't know what to do." He said to himself.

He decided to go out of the house so he cleared up everything.

He walked into his room and picked up his phone. He called Michael to inform him that he was about to set out.

They were used to meeting each other at a park.

Peter put on a Jean trousers with a T-shirt and a canvas, then walked out of the house.

He walked to the bus stop and boarded a bus going to the park.

Getting to the park, he sat on their usual bench waiting for Michael.

A few minutes later, he spotted Michael and smiled.

They both shook hands giving each other a friendly hug.

"I wonder why the brain would love to see me," Michael said and Peter smiled.

"You know there is always a reason I will want to meet you," Peter said, smiling, and Michael smiled.

Michael looked to the ground and then at Peter.

"Thinking of it." Michael began. "In as much as you want to win this competition, I will also advise that you put in more effort to our final exam."

Peter smiled looking at Michael.

"I will surely do my best." He said and Michael smiled.

"I know you will surely," Michael said.

Peter smiled and cleared his throat.

"Diana said she likes me." He said.

"Really!" Michael exclaimed.

"Yes. I want her to feel that I also like her." Peter said, smiling, and Michael looked down.
