Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 {Promise}

"Let's not talk about it," Leticia said so everyone dropped it and Delfina who loves gossiping the most and is a famous influencer on Yuin Media. Leaned forward.

"Did you hear a rumor? Look at this photo? It's our crown prince Leonardo Rohan Novak," Delfina said showing a magazine photo of the crown prince.

"Oh yes my brother who is best friends with him also said he will be returning soon. Leticia Ninth Prince Leonardo is your fiance aren't excited to see him? You guys were inseparable but then he left you were sad."

"It was 7 years ago?" Leticia said. the photo showed a handsome golden hair, and golden eyes this is the genetic of the royal family of Novak.

"But Leticia shove him to the side his ruthless, dangerous, cruel, but you know the crown prince reputation I disagree in this marriage Leticia you are a sweetheart," Delfina said.

Taylor put her finger on the lip.

"Why not give it to Amelia?" Taylor asked.

Leticia took a sip of her tea her beautiful eyes opened the beautiful crimson eyes felt so soft yet cold and lonely.

"Do not condemn such an honorable position, Delfina and Taylor. This position should go to a honorable person who will be a good Queen," Leticia said indifferently as she sat her tea out and she looked at the beach blossom tree which is her favorite trees. She must cut this talk short.

"No…it's nothing," Leticia said. This should be enough to make people wonder.

Keep talking about how different we are so Amelia feels the difference the stairs she must climb.

That night

"Father you called me," Leticia said as she sat down and she crossed her legs she braided her hair to the side.

"The imperial family invited us for lunch tomorrow," Quinn said.

Leticia smiled it seems that Leonardo returned so soon. It seems the Princeton Family can't wait to confirm that the engagement is still on.

Morgan stepped forward.

"Leticia you will go as Amelia you will wear a wig, and wear eye contact," Morgan said.

"Mind your manners as well this is the first time that Ninth Prince Leonardo meets Amelia."

"At the time like this you guys both look similar with height. You were only a child when you guys last saw each other so he won't notice much at all."

Leticia clenched her fists she wished Morgan didn't talk like this why did she talk like this to her? Morgan raised her for the past 17 years.

"Spacing out answer me?" Morgan snapped.

"Yes mother," Leticia said as she stood up. As she turned around and was about to walk out.

"And remember tomorrow you must be respectful and when you meet the ninth prince you are what?" Morgan snapped coldly at Leticia who clenched her jaw and she turned around.

"Amelia," Leticia replied through gritted teeth, her eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and hurt. She hated being reminded of her role, of the charade she was expected to play.

"That's right," Morgan said, her tone softer but no less commanding.

"You are Amelia Princeton, the longlost daughter of this family. And tomorrow, you will act like it."

Quinn nodded in agreement, his expression stern.

"We expect nothing less than perfection from you, Leticia... Amelia. The Novak family is watching closely, and we cannot afford any mistakes."

Leticia bowed her head slightly, acknowledging their words even as they stung like a thousand needles. She turned to leave once more, her hand on the doorknob when Morgan spoke again.

"And Leticia? Remember who you truly are..."

Leticia walked out as she walked to her room she gasped and she grabbed lamp she held over her head but she sighed haha. Leticia did not want to cry they don't even want to use her own names.

Leticia saw the window was open she knows Luna wasn't here. She saw a letter and her favorite flower which was a lotus flower. The name on the letter is her nickname and only one person called her that nickname which is ninth Prince.

Leticia froze, her heart pounding in her chest as she stared at the letter and flower. Slowly, she set the lamp down and crossed the room, picking up the letter with trembling hands.

As she unfolded the parchment, her eyes scanned the elegant handwriting that was unmistakably Leonardo's. The words seemed to dance before her eyes, and she had to read them twice to ensure she understood their meaning.

"My dearest Letty,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have returned from my long absence and am eager to see you once more. Our engagement has been the talk of the town, but I assure you, my feelings for you remain unchanged. I'll see you tomorrow

Forever yours,

Leo"

Leticia's breath caught in her throat as she read the familiar nickname he had given her all those years ago.

Memory at 10 years old

"Letty I will be back, but you must promise me something," Leonardo said.

"What is it Leo? What is the promise do you want me to make?" Leticia asked.

Leonardo took Leticia's small hand in his, his golden eyes serious as he looked at her.

"Promise me that no matter what happens, you'll wait for me. Wait for me to come back and marry you, just like our families planned."

Leticia looked up at him, her heart fluttering in her chest. She had always known that she was promised to Leonardo, but hearing him say it aloud made it feel more real.

"I promise," she whispered, squeezing his hand tightly.

Leonardo smiled, relief washing over his face. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

"I'll be back before you know it, Letty. And then we'll be together forever."

"But what if I do forget?"

"Don't say that. If you say that up here," Leonardo said as he pointed at his head.

"Won't be happy Letty and no one else in the world is allowed to call you Letty."

He held his pinky out.

"Promise me Letty, promise me you will never forget me," Leonardo said and Leticia held her pinky out.

"Promise!"
