"Cain. I understand the Gluttony skill and how you 'awakened' it, but how could you give someone else a skill?"
"Well, I mean… technically I didn't gift it per se… it was more like I facilitated it on their behalf…" Cain's voice trailed off.
"On whose behalf?"
"The Skills themselves."
Anna's eyes went wide. "That is impossible. Skills are just skills. They are not sentient. They cannot decide anything. They cannot act on their own."
Before Cain could respond, a soft voice echoed inside the room, calm and precise.
"I can assure you that the young prince is in fact telling the truth."
Maris froze instantly, her golden eyes darting around the room. Her grip tightened on her spear as her senses sharpened. The hairs along her arms bristled. Jayden stiffened next to her, one hand brushing her greatsword, ears flattening.
Anna spun toward the voice, alarm clear in her gaze. "This is impossible! The dome should have isolated everything! I do not know how that is happening!"
