POV: Ember
The sound of werewolf howls shook the entire facility.
"Mama, what's happening?" Hope asked weakly from her hospital bed.
"Help is coming, baby," I said, holding her cold hand.
I'd been sitting with Hope for three hours while doctors tried to figure out why she wouldn't wake up properly. Now, with the facility under attack, those same doctors had abandoned us.
"Mrs. Frost!" A nurse burst into the room. "We're evacuating all patients to the underground bunkers."
"Where's my son? Where's Hunter?"
"He's in Advanced Research. They're moving him separately."
"No! We stay together!"
"Ma'am, there are supernatural creatures breaking through our security. It's not safe—"
An explosion cut off her words. The lights flickered and died, leaving only emergency backup power.
"Hope, can you walk?" I asked urgently.
"I'm so tired, Mama."
"I know, sweetheart, but we have to move."
