Chapter 39 - 39- Favorite cousin

The air was filled with thick tension, the aftermath of Vera's outburst still handing like a fog over everyone's head. Orion glanced at Calista, his eyes showing understanding and a quiet strength that he always seemed to carry. She gave a subtle nod, a silent communication perfected over time, urging his to bridge the gap that had formed between him and Thompson.

"Go," she whispered, her was voice barely audible, but carried so much reassurance. "He needs you more than I do right now."

She said the word with "Just play your part," in Orion's voice ringing in her head.

With a reluctant, but determined heart, Orion made his way through the hallway to the stairs. He had been wanting to mend the damage between Thompson and himself, but the closer he gets, the farther away Thompson run, it was almost as if he was hiding something. Everyone had things to hide, Orion admitted, but they used to keep no secret from each other, so with each step he vowed to restore that part of them.
