Chapter 31 -  Chapter 31: Surviving the New World

After checking in on how Sora Kasugano was doing at school, Bai Mo relaxed a little when she shared some updates.

Kobayashi Kaoru had enrolled Sora in an all-girls school. Although she was a bit cold and shy by nature, it seemed like she was doing fairly well.

Apparently, she had even made a new friend — someone named Akarin.

For some reason, Bai Mo had a strong feeling that this girl probably had a very low sense of presence...

Seeing that Sora wasn't being bullied or discriminated against in school, Bai Mo let out a sigh of relief.

Otherwise, he really would've had to "reason" with those girls himself—with fists the size of sandbags.

After dinner, Sora sweetly helped with the dishes in the kitchen.

Over the course of their time living together, she had figured out that while Bai Mo loved to cook, he didn't enjoy cleaning up afterwards. So, the two of them had naturally developed a routine where she would wash the dishes.

Watching Sora busying herself in the kitchen, Bai Mo suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, right! Sora, I heard that in Japan, most students bring bentos for lunch?"

"What would you like to eat tomorrow? I'll make one for you~"

Sora hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "It's okay, Nii-chan. You're already really busy in the morning. I can just buy milk and bread from the school store~"

"No way!" Bai Mo waved it off. "I always have a bit of time after my morning workout anyway. Making a bento for you is no trouble at all."

"If you don't have any preferences, then I'll just get creative!"

"Mm~ Anything Nii-chan makes, I love!"

"Ahahaha~ Then how about soy sauce century egg next time?"

"Disgusting!" Sora scrunched up her face, crossing her arms in protest. "I'm never eating those demon eggs!"

"Then maybe garlic pig brains?"

"AHHH! Nii-chan, you're the worst!"

Watching Sora scream in mock rage, Bai Mo chuckled heartily.

Teasing his cute little sister from time to time really was kind of fun~

The next morning, Bai Mo got up at six. After his morning jog, he went straight to the kitchen with fresh ingredients.

Since he had decided to make a bento for Sora, it had to be top-notch.

Besides, he was hoping this bento could help her make more friends. In Japanese school culture, wasn't this called bento diplomacy? Or was it bento exchange?

Once he finished cooking, he carefully packed everything into a newly bought bento box and went upstairs to wake Sora, who was still cuddling her bunny plushie in bed.

Seeing her groggily rubbing her eyes, Bai Mo said a few words before sensibly leaving the room.

After all, the system countdown had just ended.

[Interdimensional Hunt]charged and ready!

Perfect. Genshin Impact, start!

Bai Mo tapped the teleport button, and his figure began to fade from the room. Time in this world seemed to slow to a crawl.

Meanwhile, in another world...

A vast blue sky stretched above, and the sound of wind howled past as Bai Mo plunged downward at high speed. He couldn't help but raise two middle fingers toward the sun.

"System, screw you!"

Once again, he was dropping in from the sky. Bai Mo was starting to get a little too used to it.

He pulled out a parachute from his Vision — one he had prepared just in case — strapped it on, and opened it as he scanned his surroundings.

Below him lay a dense forest. This wasn't Liyue... Could it be Sumeru this time?

Not bad. Maybe those folks at the Akademiya would pay a good price for his latest goods!

Just as Bai Mo was planning how to strike a deal with them, a strange creature appeared in his line of sight.

"Hey, hey, hey! There's no such thing in Sumeru!"

Watching the "monster" rapidly approach, Bai Mo shouted, "Don't come any closer!"

But his cries had no effect. The creature let out a thunderous roar and dove straight at his parachute.

He could even see the thing's swollen, glowing-red neck sacs.

"This thing definitely isn't from Teyvat!"

Glancing down at the forest and his distance from the ground, Bai Mo didn't hesitate. Right as the creature lunged, he cut the straps of his parachute.

As he fell freely, the monster struck the red-and-white parachute, which exploded into flaming shreds midair.

Landing roughly but safely on the ground, Bai Mo rolled into a patch of bushes and peeked out to assess his situation.

There was no doubt in his mind — this was not Teyvat.

That dragon just now… It looked exactly like the Anjanath, the turf-stomping brute from Monster Hunter that he'd fought countless times!

And when Bai Mo turned his head and saw that massive tree reaching into the clouds, he knew for sure where he was:

The New World.

The birthplace of the Sapphire Star.

The realm of the Five Elder Dragons.

The world of Monster Hunter!

As a veteran hunter, Bai Mo recognized the monsters immediately — the Great Jagras and its minions scuttling around in the distance.

And right behind them, emerging from the thickets to feast on them all… was the pink menace of low-rank hunters: the Anjanath!

"Wasn't this supposed to be a Genshin adventure?! How did it turn into a survival challenge in the New World!?"

Is the teleportation... random!?
