After Bai Mo's envisioned merchant trip to Teyvat turned into a survival adventure in the New World of Monster Hunter, he immediately contacted the system to figure out what was going on.
However, the system's explanation was that the [Interdimensional Hunting] function was indeed random.
Wanting to lock onto a specific world? That was possible!
But it came at a cost—literally.
Looking at the world coordinates priced at 1,000 Delicious Points in the system shop, Bai Mo couldn't help but roll his eyes.
Besides that, there was also a [World Anchor] priced at 100,000 points, which would allow him to travel between worlds at will.
Seriously? So you just didn't mention this unless I asked?
Glancing at his current stash of over 17,000 Delicious Points, Bai Mo sighed. Sure, he couldn't afford the 100,000, but he could definitely spare the 1,000!
At least give me a heads-up next time!
But since he was already here, there was no point wasting this hunting opportunity.
Besides, in the world of Monster Hunter, many of the wyverns could be turned into delicious ingredients, along with various valuable collectibles. Perhaps this was another gourmet paradise for him!
The only question was—what point in the timeline had he arrived at? Had the Fifth Fleet already reached the New World? Had the invincible Sapphire Star boarded Zorah Magdaros yet?
As a player with thousands of hours in Monster Hunter, Bai Mo remembered that Astera, the research base, was located near the coast, with a cliff where the Star-Spangled Ship could be seen.
It was along the shoreline of the Ancient Forest. If he followed the coast, there was a good chance he could find it.
To confirm the current timeline, visiting Astera was a must!
After setting off in a random direction, Bai Mo began gathering berries and materials along the way.
However, since he wasn't sure whether these plants carried any viruses or had special properties, he mostly picked mushrooms that looked edible.
Thanks to his ability to [Listen to the Voices of All Things], distinguishing between poisonous mushrooms and Nitroshrooms was easy!
As Bai Mo foraged while searching for the research base, an uninvited guest had already begun trailing him.
Perched on a tree not far behind him, a pitch-black Nargacuga watched Bai Mo with its golden eyes.
Two-legged creature… looks tasty. And no annoying weapons or armor. Advantage: me!
Nargacugas were intelligent creatures. Seeing that Bai Mo wasn't wearing armor or carrying any weapons, it immediately marked him as prey.
Nargacugas were cunning—they could dismantle hunters' traps, observe the hunting patterns of dominant predators, and even sneak into their territories to hunt while they rested.
Normally, Nargacugas hunted at night. If one was active during the day, it usually meant the apex predator of the area had either left or died.
After observing Bai Mo's movements for a while, the agile Nargacuga silently closed in from the shadows.
Once it judged the distance right, it struck.
Its right blade-wing slashed toward Bai Mo's waist with razor-sharp precision.
But Bai Mo was ready.
Dodging the attack with a backbend, he summoned the longsword he had prepared earlier and counterattacked, slashing at the Nargacuga's right wing.
"I've been waiting for you!"
"ROAR!"
Seeing its ambush fail, the Nargacuga abandoned stealth and went all-out.
Spreading both blade-wings wide, it launched a series of rapid slashes, leaping forward with each strike.
When Bai Mo blocked every attack with his sword, the Nargacuga lunged, jaws snapping—but Bai Mo evaded again.
However, aside from its blade-wings, the Nargacuga's most dangerous weapon was its tail—nearly half the length of its body.
This flexible, whip-like tail could lash out with enough force to send enemies flying or slam down with crushing power.
Against the Nargacuga's tail, Bai Mo's three-finger-thick steel blade was no match.
Lacking durability, the sword bent into a hook shape under the force of the tail slam.
Looking at his now-useless weapon, Bai Mo sighed and stored it away.
This sword had already been ill-suited for his growing strength. Breaking against a powerful foe was a fitting end for it.
Next time, I should forge something sturdier…
While Bai Mo's mind wandered—considering whether to craft a greatsword or a spiked club—he didn't stop moving.
As the Nargacuga's tail lashed toward him again, Bai Mo's hands shot out and grabbed it mid-swing!
His Vision glowed at his neck, and his fists became encased in heavy Geo gauntlets.
With the Nargacuga's tail in his grip, Bai Mo's body surged with power.
"Electromagnetism Drive! 450,000 Volts! SPIN!"
His cells vibrated violently, generating bioelectricity that amplified his strength even further.
Thanks to the nourishment of Teyvat's ingredients and gourmet dishes, Bai Mo's [Electromagnetism Martial Arts] had now reached 450,000 volts—just 50,000 shy of the peak of [Electromagnetism Drive].
Once he broke through that threshold, he would ascend to the realm of [Electromagnetism Rotation], becoming a true [Electromagnetism Martial (Mad) God]!
