Synopsis
Daphne Wallace, Sydney Kane and Ivory Reed have been best friends ever since they were little girls and every single summer they spend it together with their families in Faircoast. But this summer they plan for things to be different, they are finally eighteen and want to be completely reckless before they go off to different colleges. Daphne wakes up to Ivory's brother, Xavier who she has had the biggest crush on ever since she was ten years old. Sydney wakes up to Roman Dawn who has been her academic rival the entire year. And Ivory? Her body is found dead at the beach. With no memory of the previous night, the girls have to believe what everyone is telling them, that Ivory killed herself by jumping off a cliff into the ocean. Daphne and Sydney make it their mission to find out what exactly happened that night, while still trying to navigate the old and new feelings for the guys in their life. What started as a journey to find their peace of that night turned into a tangled mess of hidden secrets when they realize Ivory was not what she seemed.

Chapter 1 - Faircoast.

Preppy Rich Kids💅🏻.

Where are you guys right now?

Sydney⭐: We had to pull over because Adrian had to use the toilet. Again.

Ivory🌻: Haha! I told you guys he has a baby bladder. We're almost there though, just stopped at the cupcake store.

Daphne sends a thumbs up before shoving her phone in the back of her jean shorts pocket. Okay, before you call them snobs for the name of their group chat, that's actually what everyone on the internet calls them and they added it as a joke. It was either that or Little Nepo Babies.

She glances around the room one last time before walking out, outside she jumps up and hits the Woodsford sign before heading to the main house which is Haarton. The property itself has three houses, Woodsford where Sydney and her family will be staying in, Swanton where Ivory and her family will be staying in and then lastly, Haarton. The main house where Daphne and her parents will be staying. Let me rephrase that, where they have been staying in every single summer. For as long as Daphne can remember, her summers have been spent the exact same way. With her family and best friends up here in Faircoast and she hopes that it'll always be spent like this.

When she reaches the main house, she picks up her black cat "Missy, are you ready to see the girls?"

Her cat looks like she really wishes everyone would just give her some damn space so Daphne kisses her head before putting her down and heading to the kitchen where she finds her mother cutting up fruits.

Jillian Wallace. She is known as the best dressed person according to Vogue and the NewYork Times for the past five years, which sucks for Daphne because when your mother is a fashionista then everyone judges the clothes you wear. It's either too revealing or too short but nobody takes into consideration that she's not trying to be her mother, she's just being herself. Daphne has the exact same auburn hair as her mother but she shares the same blue eyes with her father.

She walks up and takes a strawberry before hopping onto the counter, her mother glances at her "Did you stock up the toilet paper at Woodsford?"

"I did."

"And put extra towels at Swanton? You know Xavier showers ten times a day."

She snorts a laugh "Yes."

They do have staff who work for them but Daphne loves setting everything up before the others get here, it keeps her busy. Jillian nods in approval and goes back to her task of cutting fruits as Daphne eats her strawberry. The property belongs to Daphne's father which is why they are always a day earlier than the others but this place is just as special to everyone else. Her eyes dart to the stairs and she asks her mother "Is dad in his study?"

"Yeah, he's just sorting through some last minute paperwork."

She hums in acknowledgement, she has come to accept the fact that her father is a workaholic and she doesn't hate him for it, he just wants the best for his daughter and wife. Garriet Wallace is the owner of one of the largest law firm companies, he's admired by many for it because he actually built it from scratch when he was only twenty five. And now he runs it with Sydney and Ivory's fathers which is how she knows her best friends since little babies in diapers. They are the complete opposite of each other, both physically and personality wise. Sydney is known as a star, because she's always at the top of her classes. Ivory is known as sunshine, because she's always in a good mood and making everyone around her smile. And Daphne was known as a fireball, chaotic and reckless.

She's broken out of her thoughts by the sound of a car pulling up and she shrieks "They're here!"

She runs to the front door, ignoring her moms "No running in the house."

They never once followed that rule. When she's outside her eyes immediately land on Sydney's chestnut curls as she climbs out of her father's white Range Rover "Syd!"

The tiny brunette immediately runs her way and they crash into each other but manages not to fall because of how tightly they are holding onto each other. "Daph, oh how I missed you"

Daphne squeezes her eyes shut and breathes in the coconut scent of Sydney's shampoo, a low chuckle comes from behind them "Are you girls aware that you saw each other two weeks ago?"

"Two weeks too long!" Daphne says with a huff before smiling at Sydney's parents "Hello to you too" she hugs them before turning to Sydney's fourteen year old twin brothers. "Adrian. Arian."

"Daphne" they say at the same time and they try to keep their cool but fail miserably and attack her for a hug and she laughs as she hugs them back. They follow their parents inside and Daphne and Sydney's attention snaps to the other car pulling up and it's barely parked before a blond jumps out and runs up to them.

"Ivory!" They exclaim at the same time and they group hug tightly. It is a bit ridiculous that they're acting as if they hadn't seen each other all year when they actually attended the same boarding school. But when you're every single day with the same people, you start to have withdrawals when you're away from them too long. And two weeks was too long.

After greeting Ivory's parents, Daphne turns to her thirteen year old sister "Do you still think you're too grown for hugs?"

"Yes" Liliana says with a roll of her eyes but pats both Daphne and Sydney on their arms before following her parents inside.

Ivory lets out a laugh "Don't take it personal, she spent the entire ride talking about how easily germs spread after I sneezed."

Daphne grins and her eyes dart around but no one else exits the car and Sydney is the one to ask "Where's Xavier?"

"He drove in his own car, he'll be here soon though. Also fair warning he and his girlfriend broke up so he's in a rather shitty mood."

"Oh." Daphne murmurs.

Oh? That's really all she could come up with? She just found out the guy she has been in love with since she was ten years old is single now and she says 'oh'.

Before she can add something else to not look suspicious, Sydney says "Well that's a shame. She seemed like a really nice girl." Daphne mentally thanks Sydney for always being the voice of reason.

Ivory gives a pointed look "She was nice and that's exactly why they didn't last. Xavier likes them wild." she then changes the subject by pointing at Sydney "I got you chocolate cupcakes" then points at Daphne "Red velvet"

"Yes! Thank you"

A tradition that Ivory always does when they come to Faircoast is stop at the cupcake store to buy them their favourite cupcakes. She knows her best friends have a sweet tooth and no other cupcakes compare to the ones at Faircoast. Their attention turns to the red Porsche that pulls up and Ivory adds "Here the asshole comes"

Daphne laughs at that, she genuinely doesn't mind being the only child but when she sees her best friends with their siblings then she can't help but feel like she's missing out on something. Her laugh dies down when Xavier gets out of the car and she blinks about a thousand times, she doesn't remember him looking like that. He looks so much like the college guy he is, his blond hair -a bit darker than Liliana and Ivory's- looks wet and judging by his attire it seems like he was at the ocean surfing before coming here. His shoulders are so much wider than she remembers and his chest more broader. Unlike the girls who Daphne has seen the whole year at school, the last time she saw Xavier was last summer.

"Well if it isn't the Powerpuff girls" he says with a lazy grin as he walks up to them and pulls Sydney in for a hug. PowerPuff girls happen to be another name that the internet calls them, the only difference is that it was a headline in the newspaper last year when the three of them were caught trying to sneak into a club.

He doesn't seem to be in a shitty mood but then again he's very good at putting up a strong front when he's actually hurting. It seems to be something he shares with his sisters. He turns to Daphne then and his grin turns into a softer smile "Daph."

She returns his smile "Hi, Xavier"

He holds his arms open and she walks right into them, her suspicion confirmed when she smells the salt water on him and before she gets too wrapped up in him like she always does, she takes a step back.

She's thankful that he never made things weird between them when she confessed that she had the biggest crush on him and he told her that he practically sees her as his little sister. To be fair, she was sixteen at the time and he was eighteen so she didn't know any better. She remembers spending that night crying, thinking her world was coming to an end while the girls made fun of her but then tried to cheer her up. They always thought it was just a passing feeling and Ivory always got nauseated whenever she thought about her best friend and brother being together.

"How are the waves?" Syd asks him.

He kisses the tips of his fingers in a gesture of 'chefs kiss' before saying "Amazing. You girls should head down and catch a few before dinner"

Daphne shrugs before glancing at the others and Ivory says "It sounds like a plan."

He raises an eyebrow as he glances between the three of them "You ladies ready?"

He doesn't need to specify, because they already know what he's referring to and immediately voice their agreement. Instead of going into the main house like everyone else had, they run around back until they reach the pool and deposit their keys and phones on the ground. The girls laugh as they climb up on Xavier, Ivory on his front and Daphne and Sydney on his back.

When everyone is secured, he yells the exact same thing he yelled for the past ten summers "Cannonball!" before jumping into the pool with them. After a while they resurface and instead of getting out, they continue splashing each other with water. And at the very moment with all of them laughing and trying to pull each other under the water, Daphne realized that no matter what shit happens during the year, they could always count on summer for the magical feeling and comfort it always brought.

This place. These people.

If only they knew that, that would be the last summer where they were all together.
