Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Last Truthkeeper

---

🌌 Scene 1 – The Ash Chapel

The priest guided Kael and Cassia deep into the ruins beneath Aegis —

to a hidden place called The Ash Chapel.

No divine glyphs.

No systemic monitoring.

Just walls covered in forgotten names, etched in bone and burned wood.

Cassia whispered, "What is this place?"

> "Where the erased are remembered," the priest replied.

"Every student Aegis ever unmade.

Every child the gods decided should vanish quietly.

Their names are here. Yours among them."

Kael stepped forward.

His fingers hovered over one name glowing faintly.

> "Kael'Thoros Vex," he read aloud.

And below it… another name ignited.

> "Taren? I've… never heard this one."

> "That," said the priest, "was your first."

---

🧠 Scene 2 – The Memory Map

The priest reached beneath the altar.

He pulled out a scroll sealed with old, dried blood.

As he opened it, it didn't unroll like parchment—

it expanded like a constellation, forming an ethereal projection around Kael.

Dozens… hundreds… thousands of names floated in circular patterns.

Each one glowing dimly, pulsing gently like a dying heartbeat.

> "These are your former selves," the priest said.

"Each one lived.

Each one died.

Each one… was erased."

Kael stared, breathless.

> "Why?"

> "Because you were born with the Hollow Seed.

Every time they couldn't control you,

they erased you… and started again."

---

šŸ•Æļø Scene 3 – Choosing the Path

> "You want to break the gods?" the priest said.

"Then know this — they are not one entity.

They are fractured. Competing.

Some feared you. Some protected you.

And one… still carries your original name."

Kael's voice was low.

> "I want it back."

The priest nodded.

He pointed to a branch of the constellation — a glowing cluster labeled:

> "The First Flame."

> "Here lie the memories untouched by divine fire.

You must enter the memory vault.

You must walk the lives you lived — without being able to rewrite them."

Kael frowned.

> "Meaning?"

> "Meaning… this time, you feel everything.

No edits. No protection. No Hollow.

Just truth."

---

🩸 Scene 4 – Cassia's Warning

Cassia stepped in, placing a hand on Kael's chest.

> "Are you sure you want to know who you were before all this?"

> "Yes," he said.

> "Even if it proves you really were a monster once?"

Kael didn't blink.

> "Then I'll carry that truth too."

The priest smiled — not kindly, but like a man who had waited lifetimes to see this moment.

> "Then step into the Flame of Remembrance."

Kael walked forward.

---

šŸ”„ Scene 5 – The Flame of Remembrance

As he entered the altar's center, fire erupted —

not hot, but cold, like burning wind.

His body floated.

The memory map wrapped around him, forming a spiral tunnel.

He saw the lives flash before him:

A thief who sacrificed himself for a city that forgot him.

A child soldier who cried the first time he bled.

A poet who burned every word he wrote.

A monster who smiled as a kingdom collapsed.

Each one…

was him.

---

šŸŒ’ Scene 6 – The First Truth

Kael's mind landed in the first memory.

He was young. Innocent. Afraid.

He watched himself kill — not in hatred, but in instinct.

He watched himself die — not in punishment, but in fear.

He watched gods watch him — and vote.

> "Erase him."

> "Not this timeline."

> "Start again."

Tears formed at the corners of his real eyes.

He couldn't fight back.

He could only remember.

---

šŸ“œ Scene 7 – Return to the Present

Kael fell out of the fire.

Onto his knees.

Breathing hard.

Silent.

The priest knelt beside him.

> "Now you understand."

Kael looked up —

but his eyes were different now.

Deeper.

Heavier.

Not with sorrow.

But with resolve.

> "This time," he whispered,

"I'll carry them all.

And I'll burn the sky in their name."
