Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Daisy's pov

"Ugh, is that what you're wearing to the mating ceremony tonight?" My half-brother Brad said as I got into the backseat of his car. A retort hung in my throat but I swallowed it back heavily. I already knew this game; he was intentionally trying to get under My skin so that he could provoke me into giving him a reason not to drive me to the pack hall.

"This was all I could afford," I said, holding back. It was a simple teal gown that was a little too loose on my bust and hips. But I had ordered it online after working several part-time jobs and never got the chance to have it fitted.

He snickered knowing I couldn't say my mind back at him.

Brad pulled into his girlfriend's driveway about 10 minutes later then fished out his phone from his pocket and said into it after dialing her number.

"All right, baby, you can start getting ready now…"

I almost leaped at him from the back seat, this b*sterd! He knew his girlfriend was the type that took a millennium to get ready but chose not to give her a heads up just so he could make me tardy.

And the later I came the more people would notice the plain vanilla dress I was wearing. Despite the anger that was bubbling inside of me, I couldn't let out a peep.

So all I could do was simmer inside.

Becky, my half sister, was already at the ceremony and drove there with her own car that my father bought for her the moment she turned sixteen.

 And what did I get?

An old model second hand phone. It paled in comparison to my step sister's flashy car but I had to grin and accept it.

Things haven't always been like this, once I had been the apple of my Dad's eye. A symbol of the love that he had shared with my late mother, but all of that went down the drain when I turned twelve and couldn't shift.

At first, my dad was optimistic.

"You're an alpha blood, there's no way you can't shift," he would tell me reassuringly, stroking my hair. My dad took me to famous healers and seers but none of them could help me.

Eventually he gave up on me, so did everyone else turning their back to me. All of a sudden, I was no longer the beloved daughter of the Alpha but a shameful stain on his legacy that everyone despised.

And just when I thought things couldn't get worse–they did.

Out of the blue, Dad started treating me the way he did in the past before we both found out I couldn't shift. I was so overjoyed but my happiness was short-lived.

On a hot summer afternoon, three years ago. Dad walked into our home with three unfamiliar faces; A grown woman and two kids that looked about my age.

When I asked who they were, my father told me without missing a beat that they were my brother and sister and the woman was my new mommy.

My heart sank, all this time Dad had a secret family?

Dad offered no further explanations, so I had no choice but to accept my present reality. But unknowingly to me my step family despised me especially my step sister.

I could still remember how she treated me in school.

"Is that a love letter?!" My half sister had giggled some years back as she shoved me away and grabbed the pink envelope that I had carefully tucked inside my locker.

I fell on my bum, my eyes widening like dinner plates as she ripped open the envelope I'd spent all night working on.

"No!" I screamed at the top of my voice, struggling to get on my feet before she discovered my most embarrassing secret.

Unfortunately for me by the time I yanked the letter out of her hand she and her friends that huddled around her already knew.

I could tell by the knowing, mocking smiles that were painted across their annoying faces.

"You ruined my letter!" I wailed, this was just more feel for Becky and her minion's laughter.

"Why are you angry because of that? It was ugly anyways and you were just going to embarrass yourself," she let out that annoying giggle again, turning to her friends.

"Can you imagine? a wolfless loser having a crush?" one of them said through a disgusted hiss.

My heart was pricked, why did they have to bring up all the time?

"Come on, guys stop being too mean , look! she's going to cry,"

I hated that her words summoned hot tears to the corners of my eyes. With what I could scrape off my dignity, I tried to leave but Becky held my arm.

"Daisy…" then she leaned forward whispering in my ears, "Don't be a pup and go ratting me out to Dad, after all we're all just playing around here…right?"

She pressed her fingers into my arm laying emphasis on her last word.

I winced in response, it's not like Dad would scold her anyways. No matter how badly she hurts me all she ever got a slap on the wrist. What she was really worried about was keeping her ''angelic' facade in front of Dad.

"Fine, just let me go–" she shoved me aside, pushing me to the floor for the second time in less than 10 minutes, all of her friends broke out in fits of laughter as they followed her like ducks while she headed to class.

I picked myself up again, rushing to my locker. One of them had a nasty piece of chewed up gum inside because I was in a hurry so I decided to deal with it later.

Grabbing the first books I can reach for, I closed my locker and started running like a mad woman to my first period. I was in such a haste that I didn't notice the foods that had been set out for me and ended up tripping, falling head first while my books flew in the air.

"We're here!" Brad dragged me to the present pressing his car horn.

I straightened up, that was my past…from now on things would be different.I could have never predicted that half an hour later a pack Elder would be looking at me and

then say in a monotone voice.

"The moon goddess has chosen three mates for you,"
