Chapter 122 - BUTZ: Chapter 122

A sigh escaped Urahara Kisuke's lips, resonating through the shop.

"Kyōraku-kun, how many times has Kisuke failed now?" Yoruichi Shihōin asked, a touch of weary resignation in her voice.

She'd grown accustomed to this pattern over time.

"Let me think… one, two, three…" Kyōraku Callum mused, "It seems to be the three hundred and ninety-sixth attempt."

"Is this the perseverance of a researcher?" he asked, a hint of wonder in his voice. "Truly astonishing."

Even Kyōraku Callum had to admire the unwavering positive attitude maintained after hundreds of consecutive failures.

"Alright, Yoruichi-nee, you should get out of my lap now," Kyōraku Callum said, gently lifting the cat by the scruff of its neck and setting it down.

"I'm going to the underground research facility."

Yoruichi Shihōin lazily stretched out on a pillow. "Got it, meow."

With a large yawn, she shifted her position, curling up and burying her head in the pillow. Daytime was not a favorable time for cats.

Underground Research Facility.

Years of research and modification had dramatically altered the facility's environment.

In addition to the bizarre-looking equipment, countless colorful liquids and solids were scattered throughout.

Urahara Kisuke, wearing a long white haori and an observational device on his head, waved excitedly upon seeing Kyōraku Callum arrive.

"Callum! This time, we'll definitely succeed!"

Compared to Urahara Kisuke's excited demeanor, Kyōraku Callum appeared far calmer.

"Keep a level head, Kisuke. You've failed hundreds of times already; a couple more won't make a difference."

Clearly, Urahara Kisuke hadn't heeded Kyōraku Callum's words. He produced a peculiar container, resembling a heart, intricately inscribed with countless Kidō incantations.

Upon close inspection, one could even detect its faint pulsation.

"Same procedure as before," Urahara Kisuke instructed.

Kyōraku Callum stepped forward, extending a finger and inserting it into the heart-shaped container.

Temporal energy flowed from his fingertip.

Even without releasing his Zanpakutō, Kyōraku Callum could accelerate or decelerate time—the fruit of his arduous training.

Urahara Kisuke didn't specify the properties of the temporal energy; simply placing it within the designated container was sufficient.

As the temporal energy flowed in, the Kidō incantations on the heart container glowed red, the light spreading from the base to the top. When the entire container was completely red…

"Stop!" Urahara Kisuke urged, his voice laced with tension.

Kyōraku Callum immediately stopped, withdrawing his finger. "Is that it?"

His role was limited to providing the energy source.

"If everything goes as planned, this heart should stabilize within the Hollow hole. Unfortunately, it only slows Quincy Hollowfication," Urahara Kisuke said, a hint of regret in his voice. He knew this was the limit of what he could achieve within the given timeframe.

After three days of observation, Urahara Kisuke confirmed the research's success.

He then proceeded, within the underground research facility, to replace Kurosaki Isshin's power with Kurosaki Masaki's power.

Kyōraku Callum acted as a final safeguard for the experiment.

"Will the Seireitei detect his spiritual pressure fluctuations?"

Urahara Kisuke waved his hand dismissively without turning around. "No problem. The spiritual pressure-isolating Gigai will resolve most of the issues."

He let out a sigh of relief as the words appeared on the screen before him. "Power replacement successful. Temporal power has replaced the Shinigami power. Hollowfication completely suppressed!"

Upon hearing Urahara Kisuke's announcement, Kyōraku Callum approached the screen to examine the results.

"Complete?" Kyōraku Callum's expression was somewhat peculiar. "Why isn't it filled with those complex formulas and technical jargon?"

Urahara Kisuke chuckled nervously. "Doesn't this look simpler? Let's check Masaki's condition."

Kurosaki Masaki lay unconscious on the operating table nearby.

The Hollow hole in her collarbone was completely healed, and she appeared no different from a normal human.

Kurosaki Isshin, seated in a nearby chair, exhibited constantly fluctuating spiritual pressure.

Regaining his Shinigami powers required some adjustment; he remained stabilized within his Gigai.

After a few minutes, Kurosaki Masaki stirred and awoke from her slumber.

"Masaki, how are you feeling?" Urahara Kisuke inquired.

Kurosaki Masaki extended her hands, examining them carefully. "It seems the same as before."

After a moment, a radiant smile bloomed across Kurosaki Masaki's face. "Still, thank you, Callum-kun and Urahara-san! If it truly is as you said, you've saved my life!"

Urahara Kisuke and Kyōraku Callum exchanged a look.

"Mmm, my power's back," Kurosaki Isshin said, rising from the spiritual pressure transfer chair after shedding his Gigai. "No difference. Powerful spiritual pressure surging through me."

Clad once more in his Shinigami uniform, Kurosaki Isshin appeared visibly excited.

While he wasn't overly concerned about regaining his powers, having the added strength to protect his family was undeniably beneficial.

For several years, his soul had attracted Hollows to the clinic, and without his powers, he could only rely on the resident Shinigami or Masaki for assistance.

That feeling of powerlessness was quite unpleasant for a former Captain.

"Masaki!" Kurosaki Isshin exclaimed, turning to his Wife on the operating table. "How are you feeling?"

Kurosaki Masaki smiled. "The same as before."
