Hinamori Momo, her expression grave, stared at her communicator, muttering to herself.
"Why is there such a sudden surge in spiritual pressure? Callum-kun went to Kagamino City to suppress a new Hollow disturbance this afternoon. Looks like I'll have to handle this alone."
Standing atop a utility pole, Hinamori Momo, using her Shunpo, moved towards the location indicated by the spiritual pressure detector.
As she drew closer, the detector's readings grew increasingly intense.
"This level of spiritual pressure… it's almost at the level of a Gillian."
The complex buildings caused Hinamori Momo to unconsciously quicken her pace. If the Hollow was hiding nearby, there would inevitably be significant casualties.
During her time guarding Karakura Town, she'd never encountered such a situation. She couldn't let it happen now!
She couldn't disgrace the Fifth Division, nor bring shame upon Captain Aizen.
Hinamori Momo gritted her teeth, accelerating her Shunpo. However, as she reached a private clinic, the Hollow's spiritual pressure vanished abruptly.
"What?" Hinamori Momo's face registered surprise. "How could the spiritual pressure I just sensed disappear?"
She instinctively checked her spiritual pressure detector, but it showed no readings.
"What happened?" A feeling of unease washed over Hinamori Momo as she looked at the clinic.
She had a premonition that the Hollow was nearby.
"Did it hide inside a human building?" she wondered, lightly stepping onto the edge of an open window.
Inside the room, a delinquent boy with orange hair stared in disbelief at the sight before him.
"What the heck? A burglar?"
Hinamori Momo hadn't considered the humans in the room; in her Shinigami state, she wouldn't normally be detected. This time, however, she miscalculated.
A sudden gust of wind from behind caused Hinamori Momo to instinctively use Kidō.
"Bakudō #1, Sai"
The orange-haired boy, suspended mid-air, was instantly bound by the sudden force. Losing his balance, he fell to the ground.
"Damn it! Who are you?" he sputtered, struggling on the floor. "Why did you break into my house? A burglar?"
Hinamori Momo's expression turned displeased. "While I'm surprised you can see me, you're incredibly rude. I'm Hinamori Momo, a Shinigami!"
Outside, atop a tall building.
Kyōraku Callum and Urahara Kisuke stood under the moonlight, observing the scene.
"Oh my!" Urahara Kisuke exclaimed, his voice slightly strange. "Callum-kun, everything seems to be going according to your plan!"
"I wouldn't say that," Kyōraku Callum replied calmly. "Luring that Hollow here took considerable effort. And, before the plan is fully underway, making such confident statements is risky."
Urahara Kisuke smiled enigmatically, offering no further comment. He'd only learned about Kyōraku Callum's plan a few years ago.
Judging by the Shinigami girl now in Ichigo Kurosaki's room, it seemed he'd been planning this for over a decade.
BOOM—
As they spoke, the battle erupted. The Hollow, concealing its spiritual pressure, extended an arm from the wall, striking Hinamori Momo. The terrifying speed and force momentarily stunned her.
"Impossible! A Hollow of this strength…" Hinamori Momo crashed into the wall, creating a large crater.
ROAR—
An unconscious roar echoed as the spider-like Hollow emerged fully from the wall, its spiritual pressure finally erupting.
"This spiritual pressure…" Hinamori Momo's expression was one of utter shock. Her right arm hung limp, blood seeping from a wound. "It's not a Gillian, yet its spiritual pressure is almost at the level of a Captain-class Shinigami. I can't disgrace Captain Aizen. The Hollow disturbance is almost over! My area absolutely cannot have any incidents!"
She gritted her teeth, extending her left hand.
"Hadō #31, Shakkahō!"
Crimson flames gathered, then roared towards the spider Hollow.
ROAR—
The spider Hollow roared in pain, absorbing the direct hit of the "Shakkahō". Its mask contorted in a grotesque grimace.
Realizing it might not be able to defeat the injured Shinigami, it turned its attention to the stunned orange-haired human boy.
HISS—
Its maw opened, white smoke swirling. Instinct told it to devour the soul before it to evolve!
"Get out of the way!" Hinamori Momo shouted a warning.
But how could Kurosaki Ichigo, a human, evade such an attack?
As the Hollow attacked, Hinamori Momo realized something: the orange-haired boy was no ordinary human. His soul contained far more spiritual energy than a normal human. The spider Hollow's target was this impolite boy!
Just as the Hollow's maw descended, Hinamori Momo used Shunpo, her left hand holding her Zanpakutō, placing it before Kurosaki Ichigo.
SLASH—
Blood sprayed. Hinamori Momo stared in shock at the blade piercing her body.
"So, your target was me all along!"
A glint of malice appeared in the Hollow's empty eyes. Its previous actions were merely a deception to mislead Hinamori Momo!
