My limbs were shaking in anxiety as we arrived at Seith private suite. I was sitting at the table, trying to calm my nerves, while Seith was at the wine cellar, fishing out a drink for us. I couldn't see him clearly because of the dim light.
Earlier, he had asked me what I was really doing at the club and I told him everything. I wasn't sure if he would help, but he said nothing and told me to follow him. I thought he was leading me outside the club to lead a more private conversation, but who would have thought I would end up here in his private suite.
"Here." Seith suddenly appeared by my side, holding a bottle of wine. He poured some in a glass and handed it to me. As I was about to drink it, I suddenly got suspicious. I hadn't known this guy for too long and he was serving me wine and I was going to drink it? What if he was trying to get me drunk and did something terrible to me?
"Would you like me to drink it first?" He asked when he noticed my hesitation.
I wanted to say yes, but wouldn't that be rude?
Without waiting for my response, he collected the glass from my hand, then took a sip and smirked.
"See? Would you like to have some now?" he asked, calmly. And I nodded my head, even though my mind was screaming at me to say no. I didn't know why I felt like that. Though he looked kind, his eyes said otherwise. There was nothing kind in those intense, mischievous stares that seemed like they could see right through my soul. His calm demeanor reminded me of Alexander. They both had this aura that made me feel like a prey. Why didn't I see that before following him down here? Why did I keep finding myself in these situations?
"So, you talked about a diamond necklace, right?" Seith started, settling on the chair beside me
"Yes…" I replied, pretending to take a sip from the wine.
"How much is it worth?"
"Millions… I think. But it depends on how the auction would go. I'm not sure."
Seith seemed to think for a while, before nodding his head.
"If I help you…" he paused and turned to look at me, staring straight into my eyes, in a way that made me shudder invisibly, "what will I be getting in return?"
"Is there anything you want exactly?" I asked.
He smiled with his mouth closed and turned his attention back to his drink.
"Anything I want?" he muttered more to himself.
I waited for him to say it while holding my breath. I haven't fully wrapped my head around the thought of sleeping with a stranger. No matter how hard I tried to bring myself to accept it… I couldn't. My grandma wouldn't want me to do that. But I was already at it. No escape now.
"I would like you to divor…" His phone suddenly rang, interrupting him. "Wait, I will be back." He stood up to pick his phone from the nightstand and answered the call.
Shortly, I noticed the way his gaze darkened.
"That asshole did what?!" He clenched his fist as he spoke.
"Alright, I will be there right away," he said and ended the call, then moved swiftly towards me. The calm look on his face was replaced by trouble.
"I need to leave, something urgent just came up." He pulled out a card from his pocket and gave it to me. "Call me when you need anything. I will send for someone to come take you to your place," he rambled out, and the next thing, he was gone.
My shoulders dropped as I let out a sigh of relief. Maybe that was my saving grace. I looked down at the card in my hands. It was a business card, having his company's address and phone number. I just had to call him and hoped that his request would be something I could give, otherwise…
Shouldering my hand bag, I found my way to the hotel's private elevator, then down to the first floor. I quickly called Katie and gave her the address to come pick me up.
In less than ten minutes she was already here.
"How was it?" She asked as soon as I got into the cab with her.
"Well, it was fine…"
"Wait… nothing happened?" She frowned, confused.
"No… he said he would want something in return, but didn't tell me what it was," I explained.
Katie sighed and looked ahead.
"I really hope it would be different."
"I hope so too," I said.
After riding for sometime, we arrived at Katie's neighborhood. The place was empty and dark, except for the street lights that shone brightly on the building, lighting our path as we moved upstairs to her flat.
I decided to spend the night at her place since Alexander wouldn't be returning tonight… At least that was what Ethan told me.
"Here, welcome to my home!" Katie exclaimed as she opened a door and led me inside her house.
It was quite small, but looked very neat.
"You're doing well, Kat," I smiled.
"You can change if you want to. I have some new nighties in the closet," she offered.
After changing into the night gown, I lay next to her on the small bed. It wasn't the kind of luxurious bed my body was familiar with, but it was comfortable.
"Anna," Katie called, breaking the silent.
We were laying on our back, staring at the ceiling.
"Yes?" I replied.
"I don't know if I should say this… Your husband is a kind person, but…"
"But what?" I asked, curiously, turning my head to look at her.
She hesitated for a moment.
"Just be careful with him. I have known him for a long time and I also know he didn't marry you for marrying sake, he must have his reasons," she said.
I felt a knot tightened in my stomach. Thinking about it, he never told me why he married me. He just brought those papers the first time we met and told me to sign.
"I will… it's just six months and after that we are done," I tried to reassure her with a smile but failed. How could I assure her when I wasn't sure myself?
"Okay… Goodnight," she whispered, closing her eyes.
"Goodnight too."
