After their grand welcome to Winterfell, the Drakensar family found their familiar rhythms again.
Aegon would be following around Ned and sit in meetings when he would talk to the Lords or hold court.
While Elia spent her time teaching Rhaenys about the customs of the Seven Kingdoms when people were around her and Magic when no one was around.
Elia herself had improved her magic a lot. Because of the blessing she had gotten from her good-father, fire and light magic came naturally to her.
A/n: In asoiaf lingo Good father, good brother, good sister and all that are basically how they say In-laws, Like good father means father-in-law and all that.
It would have been hard to practice fire and light magic and making sure no one noticed so she had started with learning runes that would help in the isolation of a room from the outside world.
Ra spent his time in the barracks, training the guards in the castle if they would ask and practicing rune magic himself in secret.
Little Lord Robb started following him around like a duckling when he would notice Ra and ask for rides on his shoulder or training which Ra would refuse as he was too young.
It was one of those days, not long after their arrival in Winterfell, when Ra met Jon Snow in the training area. The little three-year-old boy was swinging a thin stick around and hitting a rock again and again.
Ra was not wearing his armor so he went behind the boy and gently picked him up in his arms. Jon was surprised and stopped swinging the stick when Ra rested him on his arm.
"I am certain you will be a great knight when you grow up. However, for now it is your age of play and have fun, Little one," Ra said to the boy gently and brushed some hair from his face as the stick he was holding fell from his hand.
"No knights in the North. I will be the best warrior," Jon said, holding the smock Ra was wearing for support.
"Well, great warrior. Why were you not at the feast?" Ra asked the kid as he walked around the training area to sooth him.
"Bastards should not sit on high tables," Jon said in a small voice as if he had rehearsed the line as he rested his forehead and Ra's chest and held him tighter.
"Who taught you to say that?" Ra asked the boy gently, holding him tight to provide him with comfort.
Jon did not speak for some time and just held Ra tight as Ra walked and patted his back to comfort Jon.
"Lady Stark," he whispered after some time, his voice small and breath even as if he was fully comfortable on Ra's chest.
Ra hummed and did not speak after that, he just walked and swayed Jon in his arms before moving to Jon's room so the boy could have some rest as it seemed he had not slept much in the night.
"Ser Ra. Is he hurt?" Ned spotted Ra walking towards Jon's room and asked in worry.
Ra shook his head before entering Jon's room to lay him on his head.
Outside the room Ned stood like a statue. When Ra had looked at Ned a moment ago there was a coldness in his expression, so cold it made the blood of Kings of Winter run cold.
Ra exited the room and stood in front of Ned. His towering form sent a chill down Ned's spine.
"Did you know why he was not with us during the feast?" Ra asked in a voice so cold Ned took half a step back on instinct.
"I asked him to join but he must have been up to some mischief," Ned said with a shake of his head.
Ra's eyes softened when he used his magic subtly to sense the honesty of Ned's words and found that Ned seemed to be speaking the truth.
"It seems Lady Stark has been sharing wisdom with your son. If I remember her words were 'Bastards should not sit on high tables' as he told me with such sorrow it broke my heart," Ra spoke with sarcasm at first, but in the end his voice trembled with rage and sorrow.
"She she would not," Ned whispered to himself with a shake of his head.
"I do not care for your thoughts in this matter. I do not wish to see a three year old child in such pain again. I understand if she is not capable of caring for him, ask her to stay away then," Ra spoke in a firm voice and left to bring some food for Jon.
Ned stood in the same place for what seemed like an eternity. He trembled where he stood when he glanced at Jon's room.
The Warden of the North straightened his back and hardened his eyes before moving to find his wife with a purpose in his steps.
Ned found Catelyn in their room with Sansa in her arms. She cooed over Sansa and swayed her gently with a soft smile with so much love Ned thought he had imagined his chat with Ra for a moment.
"Cat," Ned called out and entered the room to have a chat with his wife.
Meanwhile, Ra was trying to feed some soup to a sleepy Jon.
"Later," Jon muttered, his eyes still closed when Ra nudged him to feed him the soup.
Ra chuckled and picked Jon up in his arms before placing the boy on his lap.
"Huh?" Jon muttered and looked around, fully awake before looking at Ra with wide eyes.
"Here," Ra said and placed a spoonful in front of Jon's mouth.
Jon let out a breath and ate silently as Ra fed him silently as well.
After the soup was finished Ra placed him on the bed again and caressed Jon's head once before leaving.
