"Hoo, hoo."
The night moon hung in the sky, a black curtain draped across the world.
An owl hooted from a branch.
The dimly lit Wayne Manor was shrouded in darkness.
Bruce Wayne sat quietly on a soft armchair, his gaze fixed on the distant silhouette of Gotham through the enormous, transparent glass window.
A bandage was wrapped around his waist. The same story had befallen him again just hours ago.
After repelling Ra's al Ghul, the man had captured him and inflicted the most brutal punishment.
Another broken back, another snapped spine, the intense pain causing Bruce to pass out once more.
When he woke up, he was once again lying in the bed at Wayne Manor.
According to the faithful butler, Alfred, he had appeared out of thin air at the manor's entrance.
"Master Bruce."
Alfred brought in his evening meal, which consisted of a few pieces of fish and milk. The old man looked at the blood-soaked bandages, his heart filled with concern. He frowned and said, "You should be resting in bed."
Alfred recalled the scene from a few hours ago: Batman, covered in blood, collapsing at the manor's entrance. It was exactly the same as what had happened not long ago. He was even worried that if this happened a few more times, perhaps Bruce's state of mind would become completely unfazed, and the development of "back breaking" events would become completely insignificant to his young master.
Bruce shook his head, "Has my blood been analyzed?"
Although his spine had been broken, it was astonishing that the shattered spinal damage wasn't severe. It was as if a mysterious force had repaired the broken bones.
This made Bruce suspect that a mysterious person had done something to his body, such as giving him some kind of magical medicine.
"According to the medical department's analysis, they found a small amount of Self-Healing Factor in your blood."
"That would explain it."
Bruce stood up with difficulty, the pain in his back causing him to slightly frown.
The police radio on the table crackled with a report: a horrifying kidnapping and robbery had occurred at a country villa.
"Alfred, prepare the Batsuit."
Bruce's gaze became resolute; now was not the time to rest. He had important matters to attend to.
He would investigate the mysterious figure, but not now.
"But, Master Bruce..."
Bruce shook his head. "Gotham needs me."
Looking up at the moon from the living room on the first floor, one would find the moon was big and round, just like this… Well, back to the point.
Gino was toying with a golden card that was only visible to him. After beating up Ra's al Ghul, he earned 1000 points, and then earned another 3000 negative points from "Big Spender" Batman.
Then, Gino obtained a Talent Replication Card.
The young man glanced at the moon. From Earth, the bright, round moon looked beautiful, but in reality, when you broke free of Earth and stood on the moon, it was as ugly as a bumpy little lump of coal.
It was just a pity that Gino didn't find any crashed Transformers or alien bases on the moon. Otherwise, he would have caught one to give to his cheap older brother for research, which might have advanced Earth's technological progress by a hundred years.
He sighed softly, hearing footsteps behind him.
Doctor Harleen was currently leading Letitia down the stairs from the second floor.
"Watch your step," Harleen said, supporting the blonde woman, who seemed like a child.
Leaving aside everything else, Gotham's doctors were quite responsible. Gino had seen Harleen's performance these past few days and thought she was a good doctor.
"Ms. Harleen, please have her drink this bottle of water."
Gino took out a transparent bottle from his pocket and tossed it to Harleen. It was Amber Gold he had taken from the wine cellar. Although he didn't know if it would be useful for a mental patient, Gino still wanted to try.
Letitia was a good mother. During the years when Lionel thought she was possessed by a demon, she had taken him to various mysterious places around the world to seek help.
So, Gino wanted to cure her.
Gino watched as Dr. Harleen coaxed Letitia into drinking the Amber Gold.
But, there was no effect. Letitia still had that innocent and cheerful expression, seemingly unaffected by any healing. At most, her cheeks became flushed.
Gino fell silent. It seemed Amber Gold wasn't very effective on the mentally ill.
The woman blinked, wiping the water from the corner of her mouth, then picked up the bald teddy bear and played with it.
Gino sighed. He supposed it made sense. This Self-Healing Factor only worked on the physical body. Wounds of the mind weren't so easily healed.
The mind, the soul… any illness connected to those things was incredibly difficult to deal with.
Gino waved his hand, signaling for Harleen to take Letitia and leave.
He sat back down on the sofa, his expression unreadable.
"Hey, kid, what are you thinking about?"
Lauren returned from wherever he'd been galivanting. The old man still had lipstick marks on his neck. Ever since Gino had taken Amber Gold from the Court of Owls, Lauren had benefited, too. He'd drunk a few sips of the Amber Gold, which had slowed down his aging.
"Nothing."
Gino shook his head. He didn't have any feelings for Lauren, his cheap grandfather, and he wouldn't chat with him.
Lauren awkwardly touched his nose. He was somewhat helpless regarding Gino's cold attitude.
Gino was pinching his chin, pondering recent events.
Ra's al Ghul had been beaten half to death and wouldn't be able to stir up any trouble for a while.
However, this defeat had damaged Ra's al Ghul's reputation. According to Talia, the old man had lost his temper on the island, and then went to soak in the hot springs to meditate, saying he wanted to regroup and return to Gotham.
This time, Ra's al Ghul had lost face in Gotham. To put it in Eastern terms, he needed to regain his standing.
En, this meant he was completely at odds with Gotham City, and Batman would have a lot to do in the future.
"Beep... beep..."
The phone interrupted Gino's thoughts. The boy picked up the phone and held it to his ear. When he heard the message on the other end, Gino's expression instantly turned grim.
"What did you say?"
An invisible pressure enveloped the hall in an instant.
Lauren cautiously looked at Gino's icy face and asked with concern, "What happened?"
Gino stood up, put on a black jacket, and walked outside without looking back, saying, "Lex was attacked by a tornado."
"What?"
Before Lauren could speak, Gino pushed open the manor's door.
Boom!
Just by looking up, the concrete steps beneath him shattered and cracked, spreading countless tiny fissures. A terrifying bio-field lifted Gino, his form turning into a streak of light that shot into the sky in an instant. The wind it generated swept into the living room, causing papers to rustle. Only Lauren, stunned, was left behind, staring blankly at the small, fading black dot.
"My God, Mother Mary."
Lauren felt his legs go weak. He rubbed his eyes frantically, unable to believe what he had just seen.
He… his cheapskate grandson could fly!?
