"Bang!"
Like a hypersonic cruise missile, or perhaps an arrow shot by a god, the God of Creation's first lightning bolt struck the world.
A figure was flying at an unimaginable speed high above the clouds.
The frigid air was violently torn apart. The speed was so great that a thin sound barrier formed around Kino, creating a sonic boom in his wake.
Kino, in mid-flight, scanned the towns below the clouds.
Soon, he saw the silhouette of Kansas.
From above, the landscape of Kansas looked like a half-cut pipe.
Found it, Kino thought to himself.
Swooping down, nearly skimming the ocean surface, his passage split the currents like Moses parting the Red Sea, a magnificent spectacle.
Boom!
Leaving the sonic boom behind, he shot upwards from the ocean at incredible speed, a blur flashing over Metropolis, dodging skyscrapers.
Soon, the town of Smallville came into view.
The town, ravaged by the tornado, resembled an abandoned factory after America's deindustrialization, desolate and broken.
The once simple and secluded town seemed to have been struck by a divine storm, with roadside signs snapped in half and scattered debris strewn across the landscape.
Damaged houses, wrecked cars...
Kino silently observed it all, reflecting that America was indeed the tornado's favorite haunt, and Smallville had inherited this characteristic.
The unique geographical location and atmospheric conditions have earned the town the nickname "Tornado Alley" (as certified by Superman's adoptive father).
Looking at the town he hadn't seen in a long time, Kino felt a bit wistful.
However, the most important thing right now was to visit his cheap older brother.
The youth found an empty alley and floated down, then activated Super Speed, becoming a blur as he rushed toward the hospital.
Smallville Hospital.
Because of the tornado, the entire town was filled with injured patients.
Some people were driving when the tornado swept them up, resulting in concussions. Others had their skin cut open by sharp objects, bleeding profusely.
Then there were those who were just sitting at home when a bathtub fell from the sky, breaking their legs. It was like they couldn't catch a break.
It looked no different from entering a refugee camp. The doctors and nurses in town were swamped.
Among the crowd, there were also many people helping out.
Among them, Kino saw Chloe and Lana, both with dark circles under their eyes and tired expressions.
The two of them were helping to move the injured and push hospital beds.
Kino walked towards them, helping Lana and Chloe to lift a medical kit that weighed several kilograms.
"Thank you."
Lana and Chloe didn't even look up. The kit was filled with medical supplies urgently dispatched from other hospitals, and they needed to unload it and put it into use immediately.
"You're welcome."
A warm, familiar voice sounded above them.
Lana instinctively glanced up, then found herself unable to look away.
The golden hair shone like a ray of sunshine under the dim sky, framing a tall nose and sharply defined features, along with a bright, sunny smile.
Added to that was his tall frame and muscular physique.
It could only be said that Kino was far more handsome after being in the sun.
"Kino?!"
Looking at the suddenly appearing young man, Lana's face was filled with surprise. "Kino?"
Chloe also looked up, and when she saw Kino, the girl's face immediately turned red.
"It's, it's been a few weeks, you've gotten a lot more handsome."
"It's alright." Kino shrugged, helping the two of them move the goods.
With his help, the three of them quickly finished the work at hand.
Lana lightly bumped Chloe with her shoulder, signaling the girl to be brave.
In the beginning, Lana also liked Kino, but Kino's attitude towards Lana was to keep his distance.
Simps are very common, but female simps are rare. Cutting your losses is also a strategy, you know.
The girl was helpless, knowing it was impossible for her and Kino, she could only settle for Clark, who loved her deeply. Now the two of them were in an ambiguous period, and their relationship was pretty good.
Chloe pursed her lips, and under Lana's encouraging gaze, was just about to walk towards the boy, but saw Kino wave at the two of them: "I'll go find Lex first, see you later."
Watching Kino's departing figure, Chloe could only swallow the words she'd just been about to say.
Chloe mumbled, "Alright, see you later."
Kino entered the hospital, navigating around some seriously injured patients, and quickly reached the fourth floor at the top.
As a nation where capital reigned supreme, families like Lex's naturally possessed some "unobtrusive" privileges.
For example, the best private medical team was already on standby, ready to assist.
When Kino pushed open the door to the hospital room, he saw Lex covering his eyes, along with Clark standing beside him looking awkward.
And, lying in the hospital bed and hooked up to an IV drip, seemingly unconscious, was Lionel. The old man's eyes were wrapped in white cloth, appearing to be injured.
Clark was the first to see Kino.
The two of them stared at each other, the atmosphere growing heavy.
Lex, noticing their strange behavior, chuckled and stood up. "Kino, it was Clark who saved Lionel and me."
Kino's previously furrowed brow relaxed, and he sighed. Clark, on the other hand, waved his hands bashfully, the big guy shaking his head. "I just did what I had to."
Let's rewind to an hour ago.
Because Lionel had sent the Honey Pot to test Lex, the clever bald man was furious. He and his father, Lionel, had a huge argument, which escalated from a war of words to a physical fight.
Both were wealthy and possessed decent fighting skills, but Lex was younger and managed to beat Lionel through sheer aggression, chasing him from the hall all the way outside the mansion.
They fought their way out of the castle hall, only to be caught in a Tornado. By the time they realized what was happening, it was too late; the two unfortunate souls were sucked into the eye of the storm.
Fortunately, Clark and Lana were nearby, strolling along the road.
Then, the two who had been caught in the Tornado and had fallen unconscious were saved by Clark.
"Well, we really have to thank you."
Kino sighed and extended his hand.
"Oh, it's nothing, but, it should be me thanking you." Clark scratched his cheek, and his other hand clasped Kino's palm.
Their arms clasped together, Clark looked into Kino's eyes: "You were right, kindness should be used in the right place, and we must have the courage to pay the price for kindness."
Listening to Clark's words, Kino felt a little moved that the big boy had finally grown up.
The atmosphere was silent for a moment, and then, a pair of large hands gently clasped Kino's shoulders, Clark looked at Kino a little nervously and said: "We're still friends, right?"
Even though he had fought with Kino, he had to admit his mistakes and face the consequences. Clark still valued his friendship with Kino.
Kino sighed. Under Clark's conflicted gaze, the young man smiled slightly and patted Clark's shoulder. "Of course, as long as you don't do anything stupid, we're still friends."
Well, it seems only Pete got hurt in this world.
