Chapter 117 - The Sin of Weakness

In Gabriel's millennia, They had witnessed Lucifer's fall and the stories of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

They watched God's favoritism towards humanity.

Gabriel simply watched all of this with a detached gaze.

Until Lucifer and God gambled with the human world as the stakes.

Until They witnessed humanity's cruelty and brutality.

Then, comparing this to the strict standards God held for the angels.

The lazy were cast down to the human world, becoming human, stripped of their angelic status.

The arrogant were cast down to the human world, forbidden from remaining in Heaven.

And what about humans?

No matter how heinous their sins, they could be forgiven and ascend to Heaven to bask in God's glory, simply by praying sincerely to God before they died.

Gabriel couldn't accept it. He couldn't accept God's favoritism, just as Lucifer couldn't tolerate God's preference for Adam and Eve.

If anyone could gain God's favor just by praying sincerely, then let the demons destroy this world, and let God's favor return to the angels.

"For Heaven!"

Gabriel spread his broad, flourishing wings, the flapping of which stirred up gusts of wind.

Clang!

The cold, gleaming spearhead plunged downwards.

Gabriel's holy face twisted into a sickly smile.

Soon, very soon, Father's gaze would return to the angels.

"Pfft-"

The spearhead pierced the abdomen.

But, the spearhead, which should have pierced straight through, seemed to be affected by some kind of mysterious power, and everything around it seemed to freeze instantly.

Gabriel, with his morbid smile, the demon Balthazar hiding in the corner, and Angela's agonized face with the grotesque monster head protruding from her abdomen.

Four creatures with different expressions coexisted in a room filled with the stench of sulfur, sketching a bizarre, holy, and evil "oil painting."

Then.

Boom!

Like the first flash of lightning in the universe.

The originally sturdy concrete wall collapsed with a roar.

The flying pieces of concrete seemed to freeze in mid-air.

The dust, suspended in the air, appeared even more ethereal in the moonlight.

"Clack~"

A pair of leather shoes lightly stepped on a concrete brick.

The golden-haired youth stood with his back to the moonlight, the bright light reflected behind him, as if also accentuating his handsome features.

The azure eyes gazed at everything around.

A cold voice emerged, "Looks like I'm not too late."

Kino chuckled, walking towards Gabriel, who was holding the spearhead, ready to pierce Angela's stomach.

As God's most favored angel after Lucifer, Gabriel's strength was undeniable.

He sensed something had intruded into the room.

But the ability wasn't to freeze time; it was the intruder's speed that was too fast to catch.

Gabriel's eyeballs rotated at thousands of times per second, trying to capture the image.

He saw, saw a figure walking this way with unhurried steps.

A black trench coat paired with a white turtleneck, golden hair, and a handsome face.

When Gabriel recognized the person before them, a hint of surprise flashed across their exquisite features.

They knew this person, the boy who had once come to the church with the daughter of the master of irony, seeking their help.

Before that, Gabriel had even scoffed at the two of them, thinking them foolish.

But, they hadn't expected to meet again when they were on the verge of completing their plan.

"Gabriel, right?"

The leather shoes stood a few meters away from Gabriel.

Kino stared with interest at Gabriel's black wings, wondering if he gave them to Lex, would his cheap older brother be able to fly like an angel?

However, Kino was skeptical about this. How could a member of the zaibatsu ascend to heaven? Their final destination was always hell.

At this moment, Gabriel's expression gradually became ferocious.

He didn't understand why this mysterious person had suddenly appeared, but he knew that his plan, which he had been preparing for decades, absolutely could not fail here.

"Aah!"

Gabriel opened his mouth and roared, and a faint white light began to emanate from his smooth forehead.

The next moment, a tiny crack appeared on his forehead, and then, a divine yet emotionless eye of God slowly opened.

Kino watched Gabriel, who now had a third eye emerging from his forehead, and a playful expression appeared on his face.

He watched Gabriel flap his huge wings and take flight.

The fact that his speed could be elevated to the same frequency as Kino's barely ignited Kino's desire to fight.

"I'm curious."

Kino looked up at Gabriel. He lightly pushed off the ground and then flew up to meet Gabriel's gaze.

The boy's voice was light, but his expression was arrogant: "Do angels feel pain?"

"Human, I admire your courage." Gabriel flapped their wings, and their body shimmered with holy light.

"But, under the All-Seeing Eye, you will taste failure!"

"You're just talking a load of old rubbish." Kino was unmoved, merely grinning and beckoning to Gabriel with a finger: "Show me the Archangel's strength!"

Gabriel stared at the man who dared to provoke them, their face impassive.

They simply flipped their hand, and a smooth longsword, burning with the scorching fire of Heaven, appeared in their grasp.

"Humans, atone!"

With a flap of its wings, the Archangel's speed reached its absolute limit, transforming its form into a golden streak as it slammed into Kino.

BOOM!

The golden light crashed into the figure. The terrifying speed and power of the impact caused even the air to ripple visibly!

Dust swirled, and Kino was sent flying like a golf ball, becoming a mere speck as he was blasted through the floors of a skyscraper.

One strike and then retreat.

Gabriel watched the mortal who dared to offend the might of an angel fly far away. Turning, it intended to continue the task it had been interrupted from.

"Crack, crack…"

Bare feet stepped on the concrete debris as Gabriel picked up the Spear of Destiny from the ground again.

He raised the spear and thrust it down.

Clang!

The spear, which should have pierced Angela's abdomen, was gently caught between two fingers.

"What?!"

Gabriel's pupils contracted.

An invisible, extremely overbearing force field, like a surging tsunami, enveloped him.

His whole body stiffened, unable to move.

Gabriel's three eyes on his forehead glowed intensely. He struggled to turn his head, and a smiling face came into view.

"How is this possible?"

Gabriel's heart trembled. He was certain that even Lucifer, the strongest angel, would have been injured by such a terrifying attack.

Yet, a mere mortal appeared completely unharmed.

"I'm not dead yet."

Kino, holding the Spear of Destiny between his fingers, raised an eyebrow at Gabriel. The next moment, he exerted force with his fingers.

A force of a thousand pounds erupted, causing Gabriel to feel a sharp pain in his wrist from holding the spear. He instinctively let go.

With a "swoosh," the spear flew away. Without giving Gabriel a moment to recover, an iron arm seized Gabriel's delicate, smooth neck.

The young man's smiling face was contrasted by his emotionless blue eyes, which gazed at the Archangel as he finished his unfinished words: "Why are you in such a hurry?"

"Boom!"

A terrifying biological field erupted as Kino dragged Gabriel and slammed his entire body into the wall. "Our game isn't over yet!"

Strange. Every night, my mind is overflowing with ideas, but during the day, my brain feels like it's rusted over, unable to conjure a single elegant phrase. F*ck.
