As members of the X-Men continued to stare at Derek, and he right back at them, they all stopped when a few chunks of the ceiling fell down in between them.
Once they did Storm steppped forward. "Hello there child. My name is Ororo Munroe. Can you please tell me yours?"
"Derek." Derek replied.
"I see. Nice to meet you Derek." Ororo replied. "Now then will it be alright if I, and my young charges here, talked with you for a bit?"
"Sure." Derek replied. "So long as none of you try and surprise me like the girl with the ponytail did. Otherwise I might accidentally zap you." He explained.
Derek's words leading Ororo to turn around and give Kitty a stern look.
One she tried to ignore.
As this occured Derek stood up and moved over to the table. Where he then took a seat.
Rogue and Kurt joining him.
Ororo and Kitty not far behind, once the former stopped glaring at the latter.
"Alright, so what do you all want to talk about? And does it have anything to do with the fact I can shoot electricity out of my hands? Or while all of you look like you are part of an 80's rock band?" He asked.
Despite the fact Derek knew exactly why the members of the X-Men were now in front of him.
But of course he had to pretend he didn't.
Not to mention he wanted to mess with them a bit.
"Pfft!"
Kitty, Kurt, and even Rogue, all began laughing at Derek second question.
While Ororo simply shook her head.
Waiting until all three of her charges stopped laughing.
"To answer your first question, yes. We would like to discuss why you can shoot electricity out of your hands. You see young Derek you are a Mutant." Ororo spoke.
"I see." Derek replied. "But that still doesn't explain why you guys look like you're part of an 80's rockband?"
"Stop, stop, you're killing me!" Kitty laughed. Even holding her stomach.
"Kitty." Ororo spoke.
Leading Kitty to calm down.
"Sorry Ms. Munroe, but this guy is too funny." Kitty said.
"So you're names Kitty huh?" Derek mused. "Now I finally know the name of the person who scared the shit out of me earlier."
"Um, I'm sorry about that." Kitty apologized.
"Eh, you're cool." Derek replied. "But let's get back on topic."
"Thank you young Derek." Ororo spoke. "Now then, to answer your second question. My young charges and I are part of a group that works to protect mutants, and build better human-relations. We are known as the X-Men." Ororo explained.
"And you all are here to protect me?"
"Yeah, man." Kurt said. "Though from what you described your powers as earlier, doesn't look like you need much protecting." He said.
(A/N: Yeah, I got no idea how to write a German accent. So just imagine Kurt with it)
"Not true Kurt." Ororo said. "For you know a mutants powers are most dangerous especially to themselves."
"You can say that again." Rogue agreed.
Derek knowing exactly why.
Given the issues she generally always has with her powers, because of how she awakened them.
Having no idea she was subconsciously limitimg herself.
But knowing Rogues powers and her story he could understand why.
"I take it you have issues with your own powers?" Derek asked Rogue.
Getting a curt nod from the girl.
"But at the institute I'm learnin how to control them. Mostly."
"I see. And this institute is a school for mutants?" Derek questioned.
"It is. And we would like to offer you a spot there Derek. If you're willing that is." Ororo told him.
"Yeah, sure." Derek agreed.
Even though he one it was dangerous.
Given that the Xavier Institute or X-Mansion was attacked and destroyed almost every other issue in the comics in his previous life.
To say nothing of that potential dangers of joining the X-Men such as Mister Sister, Apocalypse, the Purifiers, the Friends of Humanity, and of course Charles husband Magneto and his Brotherhood of idiots. To say nothing of everything else.
Yet despite all this Derek felt it was the safest place for him right now.
To learn, train, and grow.
Until eventually he managed to determine the course he wanted his new life to take.
Since it was much better than living on the streets and potentially getting targeted by says the likes of Hydra, AIM, and any of the other vast criminal organizations that are around in the Marvel universe.
"Really, just like that?" Kitty asked. "What about your parents?"
"Don't have any." Derek immediately replied. "Grew up an orphan, and once my mutant powers manifested the home where I was staying kicked me out without hesitation." He revealed.
His words garnering looks of sympathy from the X-Men present.
"Sorry. I shouldn't have asked." Kitty said.
"Hey, no worries. It's fine." Derek replied. "Really. I'm good." He told her. Before standing to his feet. "So with that out of the way, what's say we get on the road."
"Someone eager." Rogue said.
"You would be too if you while living on the streets people one day showed up and offered you a chance at a place that was safe, had a warm head, and hot food. Asking for nothing in return."
"Well, looks like someone likes his dark and morbid humor." Rogue commented.
"Says the Goth." Derek replied.
"Yeah, this guy will definitely fit in at the institute." Kurt commented.
"I agree." Ororo added.
Once she did Oorroro and the others assisted Derek with cleaning up the immediate area before they left.
Heading straight for the headquarters of the X-Men.
A place Derek couldn't wait to check out eieh his own eyes.
