Chapter 234 - Chapter 233: Real Estate in Konoha

Chapter 233: Real Estate in Konoha

"Hokage-sama, you know all about it. I sold all these shipwreck antiques to a wealthy merchant from the Land of Waves."

Sasuke constantly complained, saying how difficult it was to support his family and that he had used all the money he had left to buy the Senju family's properties and shops.

How could Hiruzen believe him? Every family keeps a little extra food.

"Sasuke, I see you especially like buying houses and shops. I think you're optimistic about the growth trend of our village's real estate market," Hiruzen continued, persuading him. "Buying a house isn't as economical as developing a real estate project yourself. I will approve a plot for you right now, with a fifty percent discount. No, it only costs thirty million ryo. The land on Kagawa Street will be yours."

"That land is in ruins, isn't it?"

"We can tear it down and rebuild it. That land is in the core of Konoha, not much smaller than the Uchiha clan's. Thirty million is a steal."

Hiruzen seemed to have made a good deal. If Konoha hadn't been rebuilding and needed funds urgently, how could he sell such good land at such a low price?

"But I've heard that since the Sky ninjas attacked the village, the nobles who owned properties here have been selling. Even with a fifty percent discount, no one is buying. It's become a stampede. If I develop a property, I'm afraid I won't be able to sell it."

"Sasuke, your clan, with over three hundred members, lives on this poor-quality land developed by the Senju clan. Don't you think it's crowded?" Hiruzen said seriously. "Now that you've awakened your Ice Style Kekkei Genkai, your clan is considered a prominent family. You still need to maintain a proper appearance. That land on Kagawa Street is perfect to turn into your clan's land."

Despite this, Sasuke remained unyielding. In reality, he had long been considering the opportunity to buy real estate in Konoha. It was a city as famous as the Daimyo's capital, and its appreciation potential was enormous. Acquiring clan land in Konoha's core at such a low price was a unique opportunity.

"Hokage-sama, is the village short on money now?"

"Of course we're short on money. Our funds are almost depleted. Sasuke, I'm telling you this because you are a person who considers the overall situation. You wouldn't want to take advantage of the fire like those nobles, would you?"

"I am a man of Konoha in life and a ghost of Konoha in death. How could I harm the village?" Sasuke feigned being insulted. "Since the village is short on money, I will do my best. How much land do you have to sell? Sell it to me so we can solve this problem."

"Didn't you say you didn't have money?"

"If I don't have money, I can take out a loan. My clan has dealings with the Bank of the Land of Waves. If I ask them for a loan of hundreds of millions, they'll fear I won't be able to pay it back. They will undoubtedly worship me as an ancestor."

"What? You want to borrow hundreds of millions?"

"Not much, not much. The village needs money urgently. The more, the better."

Hiruzen's attitude immediately changed. He quickly unrolled a map of Konoha and began to divide the land, selling it one by one to Sasuke, who accepted it all, feigning ignorance with a lot of money. He did it because he perceived Hiruzen's fear and repression, so he devised a strategy to break the impasse and went massively into debt. In this twisted world, the power of money was still immense.

"Sasuke, what if the Bank of the Land of Waves calls and you can't pay?" Hiruzen worried.

"Hokage-sama, I will undoubtedly be there, so you don't have to worry."

Sasuke's buying spree was incredibly intense. After buying the land, he even wanted to buy the Sky ninjas' flying machines and planned to establish a joint venture with the Teku clan to produce them.

"I already told you, Konoha is an elite ninja and we will not ask for your flying swords," Hiruzen said, not to belittle the quality, but because of the money. Training a single ninja cost a fortune, but equipping them with flying machines would cost enough to train several squads.

Seeing that Sasuke had not given up, Hiruzen began to wonder: "Sasuke, are you not planning to turn the flying machines into standard armor to compete with the Uchiha clan for the vest business?"

Sasuke: ?
