The moment the bedroom door clicked shut behind me, I found him sitting at the edge of our bed, elbows on his knees, head in his hands, his back to me. He looked every inch the dark prince that he is. My chest tightening at the sight.

I stood frozen by the door, wondering who I was about to face. The Ravić I loved and knew, or the version that everyone feared.

Rayna's words still coiled inside me like poison. They were planning something. Angelo, and maybe with Sebastian. I didn't know if I should tell him, or try to handle it myself. But how?

"Ravić?" I called softly.

"You said you wanted to talk. Just us," he murmured, not even lifting his head.

"It depends," I said, inching closer, slow and careful. "Are you going to tell me what happened?"

"What do you want to know?" he asked, finally lifting his head.

I settled down beside him, though my body stayed taut, hands clasped tight on my thighs. "What did you tell her?" That she had to threatened to destroy you. Her own brother.
