"No, stop. We can't." Atlas pushed her hand away just before she could grab his crotch.
A look of hurt flashed through her eyes. "Why?" She stepped back. "You said I couldn't have your heart. This is the only thing I can have. Why would you then deny me of it?"
He sighed. "Mariah, I'm married now."
She scoffed dismissively. "Oh please, Atlas! You were very clear about your desire not to ever get married. Especially after your final breakup with that witch."
"But I am married now. Didn't your mother tell you?"
"She did," she bobbed her head as tears welled up in her eyes. "She told me I was supposed to be her guide throughout your stay here. Aveline, is it?"
"Yes. So you see why we can't? Not anymore."
"Do you love her?" She pressed.
"Does it matter? I'm married to her."
