Kaelith's voice thundered through the corridor, sharp and unforgiving.
"Where did His Majesty go?!"
The guards stationed outside Zevryn's chambers jolted as though struck by lightning. Their backs stiffened, eyes darting nervously, fear crawling up their spines beneath the full weight of Kaelith's fury.
"Minister Kaelith!" one of them stammered, his hand trembling against the hilt of his sword. "We… we don't know. His Majesty was inside after we escorted that girl to the cells. But when we returned, he was gone. We rushed immediately to report to you."
Kaelith's expression hardened at the word. His eyes narrowed dangerously, the air around him seeming to thrum with menace.
"Girl? What girl are you talking about?" His voice dropped, low and heavy, each syllable dripping with threat. "Tell me everything. Leave out a single word, and I will know."
The guard swallowed hard, sweat beading on his forehead as he forced himself to speak.
