Chapter 12 - New Life DxD- Chapter 11

Currently, Gilgamesh was inside his house, seated on the sofa with Sebas and Enkidu standing behind him, and Regulus lying on the floor in his lion form, observing everything. In front of them was Seraph Gabriel.

Gabriel was sipping her tea, which Sebas had calmly prepared, while looking at those before her. When her gaze landed on Gilgamesh, she couldn't help but blush. Even as an Angel, she felt emotions and couldn't ignore his beauty.

"Sebas, how's Valerie?" Gilgamesh asked.

"She's sleeping," the butler said.

"You can go rest if you want," Gilgamesh said, causing both to raise their eyebrows in doubt.

But with a wave from Gilgamesh, they went to their respective rooms.

Gilgamesh knew it could be dangerous to face an opponent with Seraph-Class power, equivalent to Maou-Class, especially Gabriel, considered the strongest woman in Heaven and said to rival Serafall Leviathan in power.

But Gilgamesh also knew Gabriel was the most innocent Angel in Heaven and wouldn't start fights for no reason.

Just in case, Gilgamesh had his [Gate of Babylon] ready to open, and Regulus was watching everything with eagle—or rather, lion—eyes, ready to attack at the slightest hint of malicious intent from Gabriel toward his master.

[History: One of the four great Seraphs created by God from the Bible, Gabriel serves as the guardian of Heaven's throne alongside the other Seraphs. Like the other Angels, Gabriel aided in the Great War against Demons and Fallen Angels and was forced to retreat after God's death. She and the other Seraphs attempted to activate Heaven's system and succeeded with Michael as the center.]

She's truly strong. One thing I noticed over time is that most beings can freely increase or decrease their attributes.

For example, [VIT] and [INT] can never change, as they're fundamental—you can't alter your vitality or intelligence.

But attributes like [STR] and [DEX] can change freely. A good example is Sirzechs Lucifer, who, in his 'True Form,' could increase his power three or four times.

This means this isn't Gabriel's full power, but even so, I know in terms of power, she's inferior to me. In a battle, what matters is each one's abilities, not their levels.

"So, to what do I owe your visit?" I asked.

"Oh, yes, sorry for arriving so suddenly," Gabriel said, bowing her head.

She's truly beautiful. She genuinely deserves her title as the 'Most Beautiful Woman in Heaven.'

"No problem," I said.

"I should start from the beginning," she said, and I agreed.

"A few hours before we learned about you, we detected a problem in the Sacred Gear System," she said.

"What problem?"

"The Sacred Gears were reacting to something, specifically the Longinus, especially the Longinus [Zenith Tempest]," she said, making my eyes widen.

"How?"

"The Sacred Gear System always reacts when something is near our base on Earth, the Vatican. We felt it in the Longinus reacting to something—they were reacting to the presence of one of them near our headquarters," she said.

So my presence alerted the Sacred Gear System? That I didn't expect.

"After that, we decided to investigate, since the Longinus are very dangerous, especially the top four," she said, and I couldn't help but agree.

The Longinus are extremely dangerous, weapons capable of killing Gods, beings loved and revered by humanity since the dawn of time, entities said to be unmatched. But the four High-Tier Longinus are far more dangerous.

The Spear of Destiny, True Longinus.

The Shining Heavenly Thunder Prison, Zenith Tempest.

The Demonic Beast Creator, Annihilation Maker.

And the Fog of Extinction, Dimension Lost.

There's a reason these weapons can inspire such fear and even destroy the world.

The reason Boosted Gear, Regulus Nemea, and Divine Dividing are only classified as Mid-Tier, despite their absurd power, is because their power is focused on the individual, the user, and depends on the user's strength. But a High-Tier Longinus like Zenith Tempest affects not just one but the entire world, possessing power that can cause imbalance and lead to destruction.

The True Longinus is simply one of the strongest holy objects in existence, a spear used to pierce Christ, blessed with his blood.

It was truly a weapon that gained fame, created to combat anything, holy or profane.

The true weakness of every being in the universe was present in that spear.

For example, give Boosted Gear to a normal person, and they'd likely only boost five times before reaching their limit, only five times stronger than a normal person. But give Zenith Tempest to them, and destroying a city the size of Kuoh wouldn't be difficult.

Zenith Tempest grants the user control over elements and weather. It's recorded that the most talented wielder could drown an entire continent in the sea, creating endless rain and storms.

Zenith Tempest gives the user control over elements and weather. Creating endless rain in the middle of a scorching desert is an easy feat. Heck! Turning an entire desert into a winter landscape isn't even difficult! It holds such dangerous power that it could produce flames rivaling the sun's temperature and ice that could freeze a dragon's flame like a mere candle. The user can even create endless storms capable of ravaging a field and destroying an island without a trace.

Dimension Lost, also known as the Fog of Extinction. Simply put, calling the fog a black hole would be understandable. It doesn't block, it doesn't attack—it consumes. Everything it touches is absorbed, swallowed whole, and sent to the Dimensional Rift, a place that exists because of the gap between realms. There, there's nothing but nothingness (no pun intended), a void filled with untamed essences and remnants of unknown energy that crush anything and attempt to digest it the moment something enters. It can destroy an entire island by enveloping it in that fog and sending it to that place.

And then, Annihilation Maker.

The ability to create creatures based on the user's imagination, the ability to create any creature just by imagining it. The thought of such power is truly terrifying. If careless, one could create a mountain-sized monster rampaging through a city.

A good example of this power can be seen in the novel, where Leonardo, the canon wielder, could create creatures with Mid-Class demon power. But upon reaching Balance Breaker, he created creatures that devastated the Underworld and could defeat Satan-Class beings, and the boy hadn't even mastered the Balance Breaker.

If he had mastered it, it would be catastrophic. It's said his Balance Breaker has the power to destroy the world.

Honestly, the God of the Bible was a terrifying genius for creating such weapons.

"After that, we investigated but found nothing, until two Exorcists arrived and reported something," Gabriel said.

"Siegfried and Jeanne, I presume?"

"Exactly. They said during the mission to rescue the [Regulus Nemea] user, they were saved by a boy who could manipulate elements and summon a massive lightning bolt on Regulus, proclaiming himself a descendant of the King of Heroes and fighting a great battle against a demon," Gabriel said while sipping her tea.

Damn, I overdid it and drew the attention of an entire Faction!

"Continue."

"We assumed his ability to control elements came from the Longinus [Zenith Tempest], so a group of Angels and Exorcists was dispatched to search for him due to his Longinus and especially because he's a descendant of the King of Heroes," Gabriel said.

"But we found nothing. I insisted on searching and managed to find a trace of energy, which I followed here, where I found you," Gabriel said, smiling.

She really followed me here!

Wait, why did she follow me if everyone else gave up?

"Why did you follow me if the others stopped?" I asked.

Gabriel was silent for a moment before responding.

"I wanted to be useful to my brothers."

What?

"What do you mean?"

"Since the moment I was created, I've always been protected by my father and brother. They always took care of me and helped me, but I could never help them because I always messed things up," Gabriel said, lowering her head with a sad smile.

I see.

"But you found me, right? Something none of the others managed," I said, trying to cheer her up.

Gabriel raised her face and gave me a radiant smile that almost made me blush.

"Yes," she said happily.

"But now I have another question. Didn't you consider that I could kill you?" Gilgamesh said as a golden aura surrounded him.

He understood Gabriel following him here, but didn't she consider that possibility? Especially after what he did to the descendants of the original Maous?

But Gabriel didn't seem intimidated and kept smiling.

"I considered it, but after seeing your soul, I knew you wouldn't," Gabriel said with a smile.

I was puzzled. What did my soul have to do with it?

"My soul?"

"Exactly, your pure soul," Gabriel said, a slight pink tint on her cheeks as she sensed the purity of Gilgamesh's soul. As an Angel, she had this ability, and even she found it rare to encounter a soul as pure as Gilgamesh's, even among many Angels.

Having a pure soul doesn't mean you've never done anything bad. A good example is the Angels, who, despite being pure, have killed during the Great War. Even Gabriel felt hatred when she saw her father's death, though her brother Michael helped her.

Having a pure soul means there's no doubt, regret, or sense of sin in any part of your heart.

Gilgamesh was shocked.

His soul was pure?!

He never expected that.

System, is my soul pure?

[Yes, host. Compared to most beings, it's purer than some Angels, due to the host never having done anything evil in your past life or this one, and also because of your divinity.]

I didn't expect that.

Well, that explains it, since my divinity is closely tied to light.

"I see. So you came here to recruit me to your Faction?" I asked.

"What? No," Gabriel said, eyes wide.

"Of course you did. After all, if a great war breaks out, Heaven will be the first to fall," I said, making her eyes widen.

"Think about it. Demons have the largest population among all Factions, not to mention their bloodlines and, of course, those damn Evil Pieces that can reincarnate beings as their servants. Among those beings, many are strong Sacred Gear users or skilled individuals, as demons don't reincarnate just anyone. Plus, their Maous, especially Sirzechs Lucifer and Ajuka Beelzebub, both Super Devils who rank in the Top 10 Strongest Existences."

"The Fallen Angels have their leaders, their members, and the various beings Azazel has taken under his wing, plus several Sacred Gear users and some Longinus like the Hakuryuukou with [Divine Dividing] and the SlashDog with [Canis Lykaon], as well as the Ice Princess with [Absolute Demise], not to mention leaders like Kokabiel and Azazel's great schemes."

"Angels, despite their advantage with Light, are still weaker, even with the Four Seraphs and other heavyweights like Vasco Strada and Griselda Quarta. But they're still fewer in number, not to mention those who might betray you."

Gabriel lowered her head, thinking about what Gilgamesh said, and it was true.

Of all the Factions, hers was the weakest, both in numbers and power.

But one thing Gabriel couldn't help but notice.

"Do you hate supernatural beings?" Gabriel asked, sensing the hatred in Gilgamesh's words.

Gilgamesh just scoffed.

"Because most supernatural beings treat humans like slaves…" Gilgamesh spoke harshly, scoffing. "Let's be honest here. You're an Angel, so you see humans kindly and find no malice."

"Vampires see humans as food, the Greek gods have caused enough harm to humans in the past— Aphrodite cursing the princess of Colchis for the sake of the man she preferred, Poseidon raping Medusa and turning her into a monster," Gilgamesh said sharply.

Gabriel couldn't help but agree. Humans suffered the most.

Even the Sacred Gears her father created to protect them became another reason for them to be hunted.

"So how about I help you?" Gilgamesh said, catching Gabriel's attention.

System, buy me a Brave Saint set.

[Alright, host.]

[Purchasing…]

[Purchased.]

[-250,000]

Hmm, that's expensive.

[Name: Brave Saint]

- Rarity: Mega Rare.

- Description: The Brave Saints, also known as royal users, are a set of 13 cards used by Angels to bolster their ranks by reincarnating other beings into Angels. The Brave Saints are based on the Demons' Evil Pieces system, though they are based on a card game rather than chess.

The Brave Saint allows Angels to reincarnate or angelize humans into Angels. Unlike the Evil Pieces, which consist of different traits and values for each piece, the Brave Saints have many special effects derived from real card games like poker and blackjack.

The Brave Saint system, like the traits of each chess piece in the Evil Pieces, has its own special ability and is based on card games, such as "Black Jack." Reincarnated Angels will gather based on their number and suits to form a 21. For example, each suit prepares reincarnated Angels with numbers 4, 6, and 10, and if they unite with Ace (1) Irina and cooperate with her, they can unleash overwhelming power.

Additionally, the Poker system is included. Five high-level Angels or Seraphs who are Kings gather members from Ace to Queen, and forming a 'hand' will give rise to a certain power. An additional advantage is that the effect will still be displayed with members of different suits. However, the effect will be stronger if among members of the same suit. Like the Evil Pieces, the Brave Saints cannot reincarnate Gods/Buddhas and Dragon Gods into Angels, even with a Joker card.

I raised my hand, materialized a set of cards, and handed them to Gabriel.

She looked at them, confused.

"This is an invention of mine based on the Evil Pieces. They allow the user to reincarnate other beings into Angels," I said, making Gabriel's eyes widen.

[Your invention? Sure.]

Sorry, System, but I had to say it like that.

"H-how?" Gabriel said in shock.

How could something like this exist?

"I created it with the same intent as the Evil Pieces, and the race I chose was Angels. You can try it," I said.

Gabriel looked at the cards for a moment before a small aura enveloped them, then vanished, making her eyes widen.

She felt the same aura from the cards as she did from her father when he created Angels.

So this meant they could truly be reincarnated into Angels.

"You're giving this to me?" Gabriel questioned. This could save her Faction.

"Exactly. I bet the Angels could replicate them."

"Why?" Gabriel asked in shock.

"Let's just say I don't have ill intentions toward Heaven, and of the Three Factions, the one I like most is the Angels. So I'll help you with the cards and a few other things as proof of that," I said, seeing Gabriel's eyes widen before she began to cry and hugged me desperately.

"Thank you," she said.

**Some Time Later**

Now Gilgamesh was outside the house, watching Gabriel leave with the Brave Saint cards and some holy swords Gilgamesh had given her.

In truth, those swords were ones Gilgamesh obtained in the Angels' dungeon and from Exorcists who tried to kill him in the past.

They wouldn't be missed.

"Do you think it's right to give her those? It'll change a lot," Sebas said, appearing behind Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh knew the demons wouldn't be happy when they found out, but he didn't care.

"Don't worry, Sebas. Everything's fine," Gilgamesh said.

Some cards and holy swords in exchange for an alliance with Heaven?

A good deal.

But what was on Gilgamesh's mind was something else.

"I wonder what else we'll see in this new life," Gilgamesh said, watching Gabriel disappear into the sky.
