Chapter 38 - New Life DxD- Chapter 36

Saber, or Arturia Pendragon, could not believe what was happening.

Before her stood the King of Heroes, Gilgamesh.

Not long ago, she was in the Throne of Heroes, waiting to be summoned to obtain the Holy Grail and fulfill her wish.

But now, she was in a panic upon seeing that the one who summoned her was Gilgamesh.

The man who, in the Fourth Holy Grail War, prevented her from obtaining the sacred chalice and even claimed her as his own, as if she were an object.

Simply put, she was standing before one of the people she hated the most.

As Arturia prepared to draw Excalibur and plunge it into Gilgamesh's body—damn it if he was her master—the King of Heroes leapt back and raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.

"Sorry about that, Arturia Pendragon, it was just a joke," said Gilgamesh with a small smile.

Arturia's eyes widened slightly at how Gilgamesh behaved.

The way he spoke, moved, and even looked at her was completely different from the Gilgamesh she knew.

It was as if he were an entirely different person from the Gilgamesh she was familiar with.

Her focus was broken by a loud, hysterical laugh.

Arturia turned her gaze to the source and widened her eyes in disbelief.

Mordred was lying on the ground, laughing uncontrollably.

How was she here? Why was she here?

Those were the questions swirling in her mind. Looking at the other people there, she noticed another servant present.

Before Arturia could speak, Gilgamesh took the lead.

"So, what did you think of my performance?" the King of Heroes asked his friends, each of whom raised a sign with a score.

Sebas's sign showed a seven, Asia's a ten—mostly because she didn't understand what was happening—Valerie's a five, and Mordred and Enkidu both gave a ten while grinning.

Gilgamesh looked at Valerie, who made a so-so gesture.

Sighing, Gilgamesh turned his attention back to Arturia, who was still perplexed and wondering how there were other servants here and how Gilgamesh was her master.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Arturia Pendragon. I am Gilgamesh, descendant of the King of Heroes, Gilgamesh," the man said with a smile on his face.

Then Arturia finally voiced what was going through her mind.

"What is happening here?" she asked Gilgamesh, who was smiling.

Scene Change.

Everyone was now seated around a table, with Mordred now calmer after her laughing fit, though Gilgamesh was curious about why Mordred hadn't attacked Arturia.

Using his telepathic bond with her, Gilgamesh asked:

"I'm surprised you didn't attack her," Gilgamesh questioned.

Mordred looked at him and replied through the bond.

"I knew if I attacked, you and Enkidu would stop and restrain me. Besides, I was busy laughing," Mordred said with a smile.

"Since when are you so clever, Mordred?" Gilgamesh asked with a grin.

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!" Mordred shouted through the bond, which Gilgamesh ignored.

Gilgamesh turned his attention back to Arturia, who was staring at them expressionlessly, though he could detect a flicker of anger in her eyes.

"I think we should introduce ourselves," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, who nodded in agreement.

"First, that's Mordred, but I think you already know, and beside her is Enkidu. Both are servants like you," Gilgamesh said, pointing to the two seated beside him. Enkidu nodded, while Mordred didn't even acknowledge her.

But before Arturia could ask how there were two servants there, Gilgamesh spoke:

"I'll explain later how they're here," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, who agreed.

Arturia managed to use her connection to the Throne of Heroes to gather information about Enkidu and couldn't help but be surprised.

Enkidu, the Weapon of the Gods and Gilgamesh's best friend.

Though Arturia was surprised that Gilgamesh could even have friends.

"And those three are Asia, Valerie, and Sebas," Gilgamesh said, pointing to the two blondes seated beside him and Sebas standing behind him.

"And I am Gilgamesh, descendant of the original Gilgamesh you met," he said, turning his gaze back to Arturia.

"Descendant?" Arturia questioned, a bit skeptical.

"Exactly. They can confirm this and also what I'm about to tell you," Gilgamesh said, pointing to his group, who nodded.

"First, this is a completely different world from the one you know," Gilgamesh said.

"A different world?" Arturia asked, surprised.

"Exactly. First, you must understand the multiverse theory. The multiverse is a term used to describe the hypothetical set of possible universes, including the universe we live in. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, and the physical laws and constants that describe them," Gilgamesh explained in detail and slowly so Arturia could absorb and understand.

Valerie caught their attention with a fake cough.

"In short, there are an infinite number of universes, each different from the others, with their own systems and events," Valerie said more simply to Arturia, who nodded.

Gilgamesh grumbled a bit, saying his explanation was better, to which Valerie laughed.

"In your universe, where the Age of Gods ended, where there are servants and heroic spirits as well as the Holy Grail War," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, who nodded in agreement, "this universe is different from yours. The biggest difference is that here, the Age of Gods never ended."

"W-what?" Arturia said, shocked.

A world where the Age of Gods still persists? That should be impossible.

Of course, Arturia was also surprised to be in a different world, but she had seen many strange things in her life, so that part wasn't as shocking.

But a world where the Age of Gods continues was far more astonishing.

"And as I said, there are different worlds, each with its own peculiarities," Gilgamesh said, gesturing to Valerie and Sebas.

From Sebas's back sprouted two large draconic wings, and Valerie opened her mouth, revealing her fangs.

"Sebas is a Dragonoid, a dragon that takes human form, and Valerie is a Dhampir, a hybrid of human and vampire," Gilgamesh explained to Arturia, who nodded.

"And I am the descendant of the Gilgamesh of this world," he explained to Arturia, who nodded as she began to understand everything.

"I'll give you a summary of this world."

"First, all mythologies are real in this world—Norse, Biblical, Hindu, among others. For example, the Norse gods live in Asgard, the Greeks on Mount Olympus, and so on," Gilgamesh said to Arturia.

"The main mythology in this world is the Biblical one, so to speak, meaning Angels, Fallen Angels, and Demons."

Gilgamesh extended his hand toward Arturia and created a magical hologram in his hand, showing the image of a demon.

"Demons are beings that originated from the underworld, created by the original Lucifer, using the body of his wife Lilith, in order to create a military force to destroy God and the angels and fulfill their personal ambition for world domination, consisting of the 72 Pillars of the Underworld. Noble Devil families of the High Class, Extra Demons, and countless armies of Middle and Low-Class Devil soldiers under them. The total lifespan of a devil is approximately 10,000 years. Devils were originally led by the four great satans. Most pure-blood devils look exactly like humans, though with at least one pair of bat-like black wings that can be hidden at will."

The image changed to show an Angel.

"Originating from Heaven, angels are powerful beings that serve the Biblical God and have the power to inflict pain on demons and, by extension, fallen angels, due to their light-based powers. Angels appear similar to humans, except with feathered white wings and a halo positioned directly above their heads."

The image changed again to show a Fallen Angel.

"Fallen Angels are angels who fell from God's grace due to having impure thoughts that deviate from the teachings of God in the Bible. They currently live in the Grigori, their faction, led by Azazel. Fallen Angels have an appearance similar to their angelic counterparts with their wings; however, their wings are black in contrast to the white wings of Angels. Additionally, having been expelled from Heaven by God, they also lack the halos above their heads."

After explaining the races, Gilgamesh turned his gaze to Arturia, who seemed to be understanding everything.

"Now I'll talk about what happened with these races."

"A long time ago, a great war occurred between these three factions. The demons were led by Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan, and Asmodeus, the Four Great Original Maous. The Angels were led by God, and the Fallen Angels by Azazel. It was a very bloody battle with many losses on all three sides. During the battle, two immensely powerful dragons, called Ddraig and Albion, also known as the Two Heavenly Dragons, who had the power to kill gods, appeared on the battlefield, causing even more chaos. The three factions temporarily joined forces to stop the two dragons, but they were too powerful. In his final act, the Biblical God gave his life to kill and seal both dragons into two Sacred Gears called the Boosted Gear, where Ddraig's soul resided, and the Divine Dividing, where Albion's soul resided. After that, the Four Great Maous were killed, and the three factions retreated due to their losses and remain in a cold war to this day."

Gilgamesh finished his explanation and looked at Arturia, who was very surprised by all of this.

"G-God is dead?" Arturia questioned, stunned.

She might not be a devout follower of God, but it was still astonishing to imagine that God had died, after all, He wasn't like other gods such as Zeus or Odin, but the God who created all humans.

Gilgamesh nodded.

"What happened to the factions?" Arturia asked curiously.

"Well, after the death of the Four Great Demon Kings, a series of events occurred in the underworld, resulting in new demons being chosen to take their place. They were Sirzechs Gremory, taking the position of Lucifer; Ajuka Astaroth, taking the position of Beelzebub; Serafall Sitri, taking the position of Leviathan; and Falbium Glasya-Labolas, taking the position of Asmodeus. And so it continues to this day."

"The Angels, after the loss of God, had the Archangel Michael take control and become their leader, while the Fallen Angels continue with Azazel as their leader, and this persists to this day as a kind of Cold War between them," Gilgamesh said to Arturia.

"What are these Sacred Gears?" Arturia asked.

"Sacred Gears, also known as God's Artifacts, are items with powerful abilities granted to humans by the God of the Bible. The original God of the Bible created the Sacred Gears as part of His system to perform miracles on Earth. It has been stated that certain individuals with Sacred Gears grew to become very powerful and influential, and a large number of people who had their names etched in history were likely Sacred Gear possessors. There may be more than one Sacred Gear of the same type, such as Blade Blacksmith. Sacred Gears can range from the common Twice Critical to the rare Twilight Healing, with the sole exception being the Longinus, which are unique in their own way. If a Sacred Gear is removed from its owner, they will die."

Arturia understood and thought it was similar to Noble Phantasms.

"Can any being be born with them?" the King of Knights questioned.

"Only humans or human hybrids can be born with Sacred Gears. Angels and demons can obtain them by resurrecting a human or human hybrid as one of their own. Fallen Angels created a ceremony to extract and possess a Sacred Gear from its original user."

"Sacred Gears also have a final activation state called Balance Breaker, which is the most powerful manifestation of the Sacred Gear. Once achieved, the Balance Breaker can be entered again much more easily than the first time. An incomplete Balance Breaker can be achieved through self-sacrifice on the part of the user. However, this method of sacrifice does not count as a true Balance Breaker activation. Achieving the Balance Breaker can be triggered by the feelings of its possessor. It is said that the Balance Breaker was never intentional and was a flaw in the system created by God."

Arturia nodded in understanding.

"What are these Longinus?" Arturia questioned.

"The Longinus are top-tier Sacred Gears, each with multiple abilities compared to a normal Sacred Gear, which has only one, and they have the power to kill gods. This class of sacred artifacts is also known as the tools that destroy God. There are 13 Longinus in total. Additionally, the Longinus and Balance Breakers were never planned and are flaws in the system. The Longinus class of Sacred Gears is named after the first Sacred Gear to achieve this level of power, the True Longinus."

Arturia was stunned to hear this.

Weapons capable of killing gods? That's terrifying.

"Do you have one of those?" Arturia asked.

Gilgamesh smiled and summoned Regulus's axe, Ddraig's gauntlet, and a small tornado in his hand.

"I possess three of them," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, whose eyes widened in shock.

"Well, Valerie also has one," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, who stared at Valerie, who smiled.

"Now, about the Holy Grail," Gilgamesh said to Arturia, who began to pay closer attention.

"It doesn't exist in this world," Gilgamesh said.

"What?" Arturia said, stunned and frightened.

"As I said, these are different worlds, so in this world, the Holy Grail doesn't exist. To summon you, I used another method. The closest thing to the Grail is Valerie's Longinus [Sephiroth Graal]," Gilgamesh said, as Valerie raised her hand and manifested a chalice.

Arturia was stunned. If the Holy Grail didn't exist, there was no way for her to fulfill her wish.

But looking at Valerie's chalice, an idea emerged.

"But is it possible to use hers?" Arturia said about the chalice in Valerie's hand.

Gilgamesh shook his head.

"Although powerful, Valerie's Sacred Gear doesn't allow the user to make an omnipotent wish, only to connect to the principle of life," Gilgamesh said.

Arturia was stunned and frightened.

"And I believe that even if you obtained the Grail, your wish couldn't come true," Gilgamesh said, causing Arturia to look at him with hatred, thinking he was belittling her wish.

"After the Third Grail War, it was polluted by Angra Mainyu and became an 'evil swirling power,' a curse, the third element. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible to correct inconsistencies through calculations or precise interactions, and it will interpret any wish of its owner with nothing but destruction and grant it. Furthermore, once opened, it will continue to flow infinitely and bring disaster," Gilgamesh explained.

"So… my wish," Arturia said, stunned.

Arturia couldn't believe it; her wish would be nothing but destruction.

"So… my people," Arturia whispered sadly.

"The Grail may not exist here, Arturia, but one day we might find a way to fulfill your wish. That's why I want to give you a choice. I can't force you to stay here, so if you want to return to the Throne of Heroes and perhaps be summoned again, I won't stop you," Gilgamesh said as he stood up.

The biggest challenge wasn't summoning Arturia but convincing her to stay.

But there was another issue: Arturia became a Heroic Spirit to obtain the Holy Grail and save her people, but in this world, the Holy Grail didn't exist.

So what could make Arturia agree to stay here?

That was something Gilgamesh didn't know.

"Know that if you choose to stay, we will welcome you with open arms as part of our family. Perhaps one day we can obtain the Grail, but until then, you can see this as a chance for a fresh start," Gilgamesh said as he left with his group, leaving Arturia with her thoughts.

In her mind, Arturia didn't know what to do.

Should she stay or go?

A Few Hours Later.

It was past midnight, and the entire house was quiet, indicating everyone was asleep.

Arturia had been skeptical and uncomfortable with the situation she found herself in with Gilgamesh as her master, but she was already more at ease thanks to Asia and Valerie, who had stayed close to her.

Gilgamesh got up to get a glass of water, something he often did, and sensed a presence nearby.

Following the presence, Gilgamesh saw Arturia sitting on the floor of the balcony, gazing at the stars. She was no longer wearing her armor but clothes that Valerie had lent her.

Gilgamesh had to admit, Arturia Pendragon was beautiful.

She might not have a body as voluptuous as her Lancer version or the demons, but she had a pure, untainted beauty that reminded Gilgamesh of Asia and Gabriel.

What was she doing there?

That was what was going through Gilgamesh's mind, though he had an idea it was related to everything.

"Still awake, huh?" Gilgamesh said as he approached Arturia and stood beside her.

Arturia didn't even look at him and continued gazing at the stars.

"You too, Gilgamesh," Arturia said, and Gilgamesh could detect a hint of anger in her tone when she mentioned his name.

"Her anger toward the original Gilgamesh must be pretty strong," Gilgamesh thought.

"Thinking about your people?" Gilgamesh asked while also looking at the stars.

Arturia remained silent for a moment as she reflected.

She never imagined she'd be talking with someone like him, even if he was the descendant of the original.

But something inside her told her she could talk to Gilgamesh, that he would listen, that perhaps he would understand her.

And that scared her, given who he was, but he was different from the Gilgamesh she knew. The few hours she observed him with suspicion proved that.

She couldn't imagine half the things he did being done by the original, and there was also her conversation with Valerie.

Arturia was in Valerie's room while the Dhampir was finding her a change of clothes for the King of Knights to wear.

After a moment of silence, Arturia spoke.

"How did you meet Gilgamesh?" Arturia asked, as she couldn't imagine Gilgamesh saving people without expecting something in return, considering he saw everyone as filthy mongrels.

Valerie looked at Arturia and spoke.

"Gil explained to you about the Longinus, so you must imagine how someone who possesses that power must be treated," Valerie said as she sat beside Arturia.

The King of Knights could sense the sadness in Valerie's words and imagined it wasn't good.

After all, when she pulled Caliburn from the stone, she was no longer recognized as human. Imagine someone who possesses a weapon capable of killing a god.

Arturia nodded.

"All vampires saw half-breeds as filthy, useless beings, and it was the same with me. But when I awakened my Sacred Gear, I thought my family would accept me, but they only saw me as a resource to be used whenever they wanted, an unworthy slave who wasn't even fit to express an opinion," Valerie said slowly to Arturia.

Arturia felt anger at how they treated Valerie, especially since she was a child when her Sacred Gear awakened.

"But then Gilgamesh came and saved me. He didn't look at me as the wielder of the [Sephiroth Graal] but as a person who needed help, and he saved me, giving me the chance to one day reunite with my brother," Valerie said with a smile.

Arturia could notice the joy in her voice when she mentioned Gilgamesh's name.

"You've had a tough life," Arturia said with sympathy.

"We all have, even Asia," Valerie said.

Arturia looked at her in doubt, as she knew Asia, the innocent little girl who had talked to her, and Arturia had noticed the girl's innocence.

Seeing her doubt, Valerie spoke.

"Asia was raised to be a nun and was even recognized as a holy maiden due to her Sacred Gear that could heal any being. But she was so innocent that one day she ended up healing a demon," Valerie said, making Arturia's eyes widen before she continued: "So she was expelled from the Church and deceived by some Fallen Angels who wanted to steal her Sacred Gear, but Gil saved her, and even saved her when the demon came after her."

"He's willing to wage war against anyone if it means we'd be safe," Valerie said with a smile on her face.

Arturia listened attentively as Valerie explained, and this Gilgamesh was very different from the one she knew.

He was willing to do anything to save and keep those close to him protected, just like her desire to save her kingdom.

"We all have our own stories, but even so, Gil took care of all of us and gave us a purpose. I'm sure Gilgamesh will find a way to obtain the Grail, or you might even find another purpose," Valerie said as she stood up.

Arturia spent time reflecting on what the Dhampir had said.

Arturia also recalled the conversation she had with Mordred.

Arturia was now facing one of the people responsible for the fall of her kingdom.

Before Arturia stood Mordred, who had stopped her while she was walking through the house.

"Can I talk to you for a bit, Father?" Mordred asked, to Arturia's surprise, who nodded.

Both had left the house and were now in a place where no one could disturb them.

"Why didn't you choose me as king?" Mordred asked.

"You didn't have what it takes to be a king," Arturia said simply.

Mordred clenched her fist tightly before taking a deep breath and speaking again.

"I understand. This time here with Gilgamesh made me understand. I really wasn't someone you needed as king. And I didn't even understand my own will," Mordred said to Arturia.

The King of Knights was very surprised that Mordred had changed so much, and the reason for her change was Gilgamesh.

That was, at the very least, surprising.

Mordred turned to Arturia and looked at her while manifesting Clarent in her hand. Arturia showed no sign of reaction, as she sensed no malice in Mordred's intentions.

"I hope one day I can fight alongside you again, Father," Mordred said as she planted her sword in the ground.

"If we continue with the same master, that will happen," Arturia said.

Mordred sighed before turning and saying one last thing to Arturia.

"Give Gilgamesh a chance. He's a good person and a good master," Mordred said before leaving.

Arturia was left with her thoughts again.

After letting go of her memories, Arturia gave her response to Gilgamesh.

"Yes. You must think my wish is foolish, just like your ancestor did," Arturia said while looking at the sky, but Gilgamesh could recognize anger in her voice.

"Maybe the original thought that, maybe from a king's perspective he thought that," Gilgamesh said while looking at the sky. "But personally, I don't."

Arturia turned to him, surprised.

"What?" Arturia questioned, not understanding.

"If I lost all of them, I would do anything to have them by my side again, even if it meant something extreme," Gilgamesh said, referring to Sebas, Enkidu, Valerie, Mordred, and Asia.

He truly couldn't imagine his life without them and would be willing to do anything for them, even if it meant his destruction.

"I understand. But… I have nothing left, neither my people nor my wish that can be fulfilled. I've lost my purpose," Arturia said sadly.

Looking at her, Gilgamesh said:

"I've heard it said that we're all born with a purpose. That every living being, no matter how small or great, has a reason to exist, that we all come to have a greater purpose. That all our lives have meaning from the start."

Gilgamesh closed his eyes for a moment, letting the words sink in, before clenching his hand.

"But that's wrong," his bright crimson eyes turned to the sky. "That's completely wrong. Life has no meaning; none of us are born with a purpose. We're just born, and that's it. Life has no greater purpose than living, no matter how much poets and philosophers like to tell us otherwise. The truth is, there's no reason for us to come into existence."

A small smile, nothing more than a slight twist of his lips. "But that's okay. Just because we're born without meaning doesn't mean we can't find one."

Gilgamesh leaned back against the wall and looked at the sky.

"In this world, we're all born without purpose, but surely, if you search, if you seek throughout your life, one day you'll certainly find something of value. A treasure that's your own."

"And when you find that most precious treasure, when you hold it in your own hands, you'll surely realize, 'Ah, so this is why I was born. This is the purpose of my life.'"

Gilgamesh looked at Arturia.

"In this world, I found mine, whether it's wanting to protect those close to me or a wish."

"Just because you lost your purpose doesn't mean you can't find another," Gilgamesh said.

Arturia turned her gaze to him.

"Maybe one day you'll achieve your dream. I'm willing to help you if you want, but until then, nothing stops you from finding a new reason to keep going," Gilgamesh said while looking directly into Arturia's eyes.

She looked at the sky before letting out a small, weak laugh.

"I never imagined I'd hear that from you," she said to Gilgamesh, who laughed.

"Yeah, I never imagined myself saying that to King Arthur either," Gilgamesh said with a grin.

"You may not trust me, but here's a gesture of good faith," Gilgamesh said, catching Arturia's attention.

The King of Heroes snapped his fingers, and a golden ripple appeared in front of Arturia before an item emerged.

It was a luxurious piece of equipment made of gold and decorated with blue enamel, looking more like a treasure to display dignity and nobility, like a crown or scepter, than a weapon, with an inscription in Fairy Letters engraved in its center to show it was not man-made.

This was no ordinary item; it was Avalon.

Avalon: The Everdistant Utopia, the sacred and crowned scabbard of King Arthur's sword, Excalibur.

The moment Arturia's eyes fell upon it, she couldn't believe that her sword's scabbard was there.

"How?" Arturia asked as she took Avalon in her hands.

"The [Gate of Babylon] holds all the treasures of the world," Gilgamesh said while looking at Arturia.

He had always intended to give Arturia Avalon, which is why he had two in his treasury, to keep it complete.

The moment Arturia placed her hands on Avalon, her sword Excalibur manifested and entered its original scabbard, and Arturia could feel the connection between them, gaining the healing abilities of the Everdistant Utopia.

The scabbard of Excalibur, Avalon, grants its user limited immortality through constant regeneration, preventing physical deterioration caused by aging. The utopia Avalon was thought to be derived from the island that produced the "Apple of Immortality" in Greek mythology.

The bearer of the scabbard receives potent healing, allowing critical and fatal wounds to be quickly repaired to restore the bearer's health. Minor injuries are easily restored, and even large missing parts of the body and destroyed vital organs, like the heart, can be quickly restored at the critical moment before death. Targeting anything other than the bearer's head to destroy their brain is futile, requiring a decisive attack to cause any real damage.

Its function as a Noble Phantasm is an "absolute defense" that completely protects its user in the realm of the fairies, Avalon, the unreachable utopia that King Arthur dreamed of and was said to have gone to after her death. It is the greatest protection in the world, going beyond defense or reflection, completely isolating its user in a world separate from the common world. The scabbard dissipates into countless tiny particles in the air and engulfs the user to become a "portable fortress" that shuts out all interference. It is the tranquil domain of the fairies that keeps out all the filth of the outside world and allows nothing to harm the tranquil king who stands in the land of Avalon. The individual is shielded from all destructive interference in the physical realm, trans-linear worlds, and multidimensional communication up to the sixth dimension. It is on the level of true magic, a true magic in itself that transcends all magecraft, and not even the Five Magics can overcome the barrier.

Something as valuable, if not more so, than the Sword of Promised Victory itself.

Running her hand over her sword's scabbard, Arturia sighed and made her decision.

She stood up and looked directly into Gilgamesh's crimson eyes, who looked at her with curiosity.

In a swift motion, she drew Excalibur from its scabbard and pointed it at Gilgamesh, who didn't flinch, simply because he sensed no malice in Arturia's intentions.

In a quick motion, she placed her sword on the ground before speaking.

"I accept you as my master. From now on, my sword is your sword, and your fate will be my fate," Arturia said with an honor that could only be spoken by the King of Knights.

Gilgamesh gave a wide smile to Arturia, whose cheeks took on a pink hue.

Especially due to Gilgamesh's charm, capable of making even a Goddess of Beauty blush.

Then Gilgamesh said something that caught the servant completely off guard.

"I swear here, Saber, or rather, Arturia Pendragon, I swear by my pride as the King of Heroes and by all my friends that I will never disrespect your will or your honor, and if I do, you may kill me," Gilgamesh said with a serious face, catching Arturia completely by surprise.

The King of Knights smiled.

"Very well, I accept your oath," Arturia said with respect.

Gilgamesh laughed before pulling Arturia into a hug, making the woman blush before trying to free herself using Excalibur, only for Gilgamesh to dodge and start laughing.

They spent some more time talking before each returned to their room.

Arturia fell asleep with a thought.

"Maybe he's not such a bad master," the King of Knights thought before drifting into sleep.
