Chapter 5 - Climber's Association

What the hell? Why did my HP and ST only increase by one. More importantly my MP increased by ten and I can't even use any damn magic. Well at least I got a skill out of this. After resting for a couple minutes I made my way back towards the entrance of the tower. It takes too long to traverse this floor. I need to figure out how to acquire a speed related skill or level up faster. Man that fucking goblin and his stupid little dagger. Finally exiting the tower I made my way to Amelia's house. Knocking on the door I heard her hurry towards the door swinging it open before noticing my side covered in blood. She asked, "What the hell happened?".

I answered with a pained grunt, "Goblin.".

She gave me a quizzical look like I was some kind of idiot for getting injured hunting goblins. I asked her, "Do you have a first aid kit?".

She sighed saying, "I have something better.".

She put a hand on my side and closed her eyes as she mumbled something before her hand started glowing with a brilliant light. A warm and fuzzy feeling filled my body as I felt the pain leave my side. A couple minutes later I lifted my shirt to find my injury fully closed and the pain completely gone. Looking towards her I asked, "When did you learn to do that?".

She answered excitedly, "I learned this skill about...".

She unexpectedly cut off and was enveloped in a bright light. The light was too intense, making my eyes burn even though I closed them. A few seconds later the light dissipated and she stood there confused. I was stunned she looked the same but her ears grew longer. She looked extremely happy before shouting, "I finally completed all ten of my requirements.".

I told her, "Congratulations Amelia. What was your last requirement?".

She didn't answer, blushed and quickly ran away. Why did she run? Scratching my head I prepared for my next journey into the tower. The next morning I woke to the smell of bacon. I shot up quickly noticing no one was in the kitchen. Looking to my right I noticed a note and breakfast on the table beside me. The note said, "I'm sorry for running last night. I will tell you the last requirement after we both are home.".

I hurriedly ate my breakfast and made my way to the Climber's Association to sell my loot from the goblins. Entering the giant building housing the association I quickly glanced around for a desk or a help center. Doing a full scan of the room I noticed a line leading to a desk with a beautiful girl as a receptionist. Looking at the desk beside her I noticed a lone receptionist with no line. Not wanting to wait for a couple hours I made my way towards her. As I got closer I heard mumbling starting from the line beside me. Arriving at the desk I got a better look at the receptionist, she is a small woman smaller than five feet with long jet black hair covering her face and she was giving off a gloomy presence. She greeted me, "H..H…Hello, my name is Meryl. H..H…How may I help you today?".

She spoke so quietly I could barely hear her. I answered, "This is my first time here. I was wondering if I was able to sell some drops I got in the tower.".

She shakily said, "Y..Y…Yes, you just need to register to get your ID.".

I noticed she struggles to start her sentences but she finishes them insanely fast. She slid a registration form across the desk to me along with a pen. Filling it out I slid it back across to her. She quickly typed the information in and grabbed a blanked card out of a drawer and handed it to me saying, "C..C…Channel your mana into this and your stats will show up.".

Doing as she said I started channeling mana into the card. My stats slowly appeared and I couldn't help but smile a little. Looking back towards Meryl she quickly turned her head. I asked, "Is everything alright?".

She squeaked out, "I..I…I'm fine. W..W…What do you have to sell?".

I started taking the items out of my inventory when she stopped me. She said, "H..H…Hand me your guild card please.".

Handing it to her she swiped it into a device on her computer and handed it back. She turned her screen and said, "J..J…Just click on what you want to sell and the funds will transfer over into your card.".

The screen had my inventory displayed so I clicked on everything I had got from the goblins. I finished up selling the items and checked my card. I got fifty bucks which feels like a rip off. I smiled and said, "Thanks Meryl. I'll be back when I have more to sell.".

Walking away from her desk I swear I could hear her mumble something. Exiting the building I ran into Helm who was on his way in. He caught me before I hit the ground and pulled me to my feet. He said, "I can tell you've gotten a little stronger. How is your learning going?".

I answered, "Not too bad. I got stabbed but more importantly I need a new weapon that can cut through goblins.".

He said, "On the contrary you already have the perfect weapon. Hand me your sword.".

Handing him the wooden sword he pulled out something from his pocket and slid it down the blade and stopped before reaching the tape I was using for grip. The sword transformed into a shiny broadsword in a sheath. He handed it back to me and said, "You have earned the right to use the sword's true form. All you need to do now is hone your skills and do your best. Come visit once and a while for a spar.".

He waved his hand and walked past me. Inspecting the sword in my inventory I read its description:

Slayers Broadsword Rank: Silver

-This sword was once used to forcefully exterminate monsters.

-Concentrating mana into the sword and swinging your sword diagonally to send out a medium ranged magic attack.

-Ten mana to use
