Lance's POV
I couldn't grasp the reason why Adrian was saving me. I had already accepted my fate and that I would remain his father's prisoner until, if ever, aid came from my men. I had chosen to come here knowing full well it wasn't safe, and I had done did that because I couldn't bear the thought of Daniel being lost.
He was my aunt's only son, her precious boy. Allowing her to release the shadow wolves, as she had so recklessly wanted, wasn't something I could permit.
Whether Daniel was her son or not, I was skeptical of those creatures and the chaos their use would bring. That was part of why I came here on my own, why I stepped straight into this trap. A trap I hadn't even considered was being prepared for me. Never once had I thought Alpha Darius would lie in wait as though he were certain I would come.
