Chapter 91 - 91: Heartbreak

Adrian's POV

I couldn't leave him behind. I couldn't bring myself to.

"We need to leave, Adrian. We've got no time for this!" Nanny Brielle kept reminding me, her voice trembling as she dragged me along the damp corridor leading out of the cell.

I obeyed at her insistence, but deep down, I knew the only reason I was moving was because she was forcing me to.

Why was I feeling this way for him?

Why couldn't I bring myself to leave him behind?

Why was I hesitating when my own freedom was slipping away with every second?

I couldn't understand why. I was spiraling in a sea of thoughts even as Nanny Brielle's grip tightened on my wrist, pulling me along with her.

We needed to leave, I knew that too. The warriors' war screams were echoing through the walls now, louder and closer with every passing heartbeat. Yet I was too lost, too oblivious to what exactly was happening or why it had to happen this way.
