Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

He walked through the prison hall with a guard behind him and in front of him. "Hey new kid. You look soft~" One of the prisoners murmured. Causing the guards to chuckle.

"Not as soft as your mom was last night." Rico responded not even bothering to look at his fellow prisoner. But he got laughter from the other prisoners while the prisoner he responded to began screaming curses through the bars.

"Not making friends on your first day are you?" One of the guards chuckled sarcastically as they arrived at a cell. "Open G-17!" The guard called out and the cell opened. There was a bunk bed, a toilet, a sink, and a single metal shelf.

As he stepped into the cell he glanced at his new cellmate who was lying on the bottom bunk reading a book. He glanced at them before turning his attention back to the book he was reading.

"Turn around and put your hands through the bars." The guard instructed and Rico followed the directions putting his hands through the bars and then they removed the cuffs. Then they walked away.

Rico turned around and looked around the room. There was not much in the room. It was filthy and clearly was not up to any standard codes. But considering that it is a prison in Gotham it made sense.

"Prison yard time was delayed because of your arrival. We are going out in a minute but you are not going to be popular in the yard. Expect someone to pick a fight. I suggest you just take the beating." His fellow inmate explained. He was an older man with a graying beard and darker skin.

"I will keep that in mind." There was then a ringing a moment later as the cell opened up along with all the other cells in the block.

"Prisoners line up!" Someone called out over the speakers.

After a moment they all began lining up out of their prison cells and Rico was joined by his new cellmate who he did not know the name of. They stood outside of their cells and he could feel the side eyes from several of the other prisoners.

"Turn!" They all turned one way. "Move!" They then began moving in lines. There are three levels and they were on the bottom level. So he could watch as more prisoners walked down stairs to get to their level as they were escorted into a hallway.

All of the guards they passed had full riot gear on. They walked through another hallway to arrive at a pair of metal doors. After walking through they were exposed to the late day sky as they walked into the prison yard.

They began dispersing and breaking into groups. He watched his cell mate quickly walk away from him. He could feel the stares in the back of his head so he moved to a spot that was out of the cameras' view.

It only took a moment for a shaved headed man with a bunch of tattoos to lumber towards him. He growled as he approached, "you talked about my mom! I am going to put you in the fuckin' ground!"

He slammed downward with his fist. But Rico sidestepped the punch, closing the distance between them and kicking the side of his meaty leg.

Crack!

"Aargghh!" The man screamed as there was a sickening crack with a bloody bone emerging from his leg as his leg was nearly snapped in half. As he was screaming he fell to the ground on one knee, his tongue partially sticking out as he screamed. Rico stepped forward and did a palm strike upward into his chin. A moment later a bloody tongue was landing on the ground while the big guy fell to the ground unconscious.

He stepped to the side and looked around. There was a stunned silence. But then he watched as the skin heads became angry and ran right towards him. The other prisoners began yelling and chanting as a circle formed around him.

The skin heads ran right to him. Rico took up a stance and dodged the first one's punches. Countering with a punch to his gut that had him puking up his lunch and keeling over in pain.

Rico then jumped up and kneed the next one in the face. Going on the offensive. He went to the ground unconscious with blood shooting out of his nose.

The next one pulled out a sharpened toothbrush and tried to shank him. Rico grabbed the man's wrist and pulled him toward one of his friends. Causing him to stab another of them in the chest.

Rico then swept his leg and caused them both to fall to the ground.

Unfortunately it was about that time that the guards began coming out and screaming. They had shotguns out but they were probably loaded with beanbag rounds.

"Get down!" They began screaming at him to get on the ground. So he began raising his hands and getting on his knees but at the last second he had to move to the side as another of the skin heads tried to stab him. In response he elbowed the man in across the face causing a sickening crack.

Rico was forced down by some of the guards. Putting his face in the dirt. Then after a minute he was picked up by the arms and dragged up and away. A few minutes of walking later he was shoved into a solitary cell. All it had was concrete walls, roof, and floor. While the door was a reinforced metal door.

There were no cameras, it was just a concrete box. This would work for him. The hatch on the door opened up. "You have a week in solitary. I suggest you think about what you have done!" It then slammed closed.

He waited a few more minutes before summoning his phone. He began texting and sending out messages and orders. He would have to get everything arranged. Fortunately it sounded like Ivy decided to help the mercenary group he was forming. While Edgelady had gotten a bodyguard job for an out of town business man for a few days.

Now he just had to wait until the detectives figured out they had the wrong person. But more importantly, how did he never get a lawyer?

Bullock and Montoya were standing on the roof a distance away from Gordon who was talking with the elusive Batman. As they were talking Montoya's phone began ringing. She answered it and her expression changed and she frowned.

"Something wrong?" Bullock asked as he smoked his cigar.

"Ricardo Bell just put a bunch of Nazi skin heads in the prison infirmary. One of them had to actually be moved to a hospital out of state." Montoya explained as she put her phone away. "All of that and I still feel like something is off. Did you send that spit and foreign DNA to get tested?"

"Huh? Uh… yeah. But the lab is backed up like always. It will be a few weeks." Bullock answered.

"Bullock! Montoya! Get over here!" Gordon called out. They both walked forward. They were more here to meet the new Robin than talk to Batman. Because the Robins usually ended up working with them.
