Coin fired again. This time the bullet went through the wall and there was a blood splatter on the hallway wall before a body with a head that had a massive hole in it, fell into the middle of the hallway. That was the sixth person she had killed in this hallway alone. At this point they might be able to use their allies as a wall to move up.
"Coin, if you can hear me you have five more coming out through the cave entrance. Also inform the police that they can move in after those five are down. We have locked down an area they can set up." Coin heard Rico's voice statically over the commlink. There was clearly some interference but not enough to cause problems.
Coin looked down the hallway and then looked through the door to the office she was firing from earlier. She could still see the cave entrance from her position. She could make this work. But damn, she was going to make it cost Rico something.
"Understood, give me a few minutes to take care of these people then I will send the police in to relieve you." Coin responded as she repositioned and aimed at the cave entrance. Just in time too because a person came running out of the cave and right into the first bullet she sent flying.
His head snapped back as they continued to move forward. But then they collapsed onto the ground and rolled an additional few feet. As soon as the first one died the other froze in shock.
This gave Coin another opportunity to take another one out. She aimed at the one closest to the cave entrance. His head snapped back and he began falling as well.
When he began falling the others started reacting. The one farthest out from the cave entrance began firing roughly at the building she was inside of. The middle one ran toward a police vehicle. Probably going for cover. Then the last one turned and ran back toward the cave entrance.
She aimed and fired at the one going back toward the cave. He collapsed on the ground with a giant hole in his chest as he tripped over the body of his friend. Before she got a chance to fire again she heard movement back down the hall and spun around.
This time it was the guy in the track suit. But now he had a full bomb vest on as he began running down the hall. She did not think twice as she shot him in the head and then ducked behind the kitchen counter again as the tracksuit collapsed at the apartment's entrance.
BOOOM!
An explosion rocked the entire building and blew out the windows. But Coin fortunately had the kitchen counter to take the brunt of the attack before she peeked back out the office window through her scope to see that the tracksuit suicide bomber was not the only one that blew up. There were also the two garbage trucks. They had completely annihilated the police line and one of them had caused a building to begin collapsing.
The last two targets from the cave were easy enough to find. One of them had successfully gotten behind a police car and was exchanging fire with some of the police officers who were caught between two different groups.
The others were moving toward an area where the injured had been taken too. He was out in the open but he was using his large machine gun's abundance of ammunition to suppress the police.
Coin first aimed at the one moving toward the injured and hit him in the head. He went down a moment later collapsing to the ground on his knees while still firing and clearly his body was trying to continue to move forward. But then he fell face first and his gun fell out of his hand.
Coin turned her attention to the other one and could barely see him through a police cruiser's window. She had to steady her nerves and time it because he would pop up for barely a second.
As she was about to fire, a bunch of bullets began pelting the cover she was hiding behind and her shot went wide. Instead of hitting the target she was aiming at, it hit the trunk of the car he was hiding behind. Ricocheting right in front of his eyes. He looked toward her and then ducked down. Now clearly aware of where she was shooting from.
But that was the least of her issues.
She glanced down the hall and had to immediately duck behind cover as bullets pelted the already badly damaged counter. She saw the enemy for a moment. But that moment was all it took for her to know that she was having too great of an impact on the field of battle as far as their enemy was concerned.
They were wearing an abundance of body armor and metal plates that covered their body and made it difficult to move. Including some that covered the weak points like that head and neck. They were really slow, but in exchange they were really hard to kill. She had seen a few before, they were always called the same thing. Juggernauts.
This one has a light machine gun as its weapon. For the single moment she saw it she thinks she also saw them carrying a shotgun. Fortunately they were all the way at the end of the hallway and they were moving incredibly slowly and with difficulty because of their allies' bodies.
Coin would have to come up with a strategy to take them down before they got too close. Because that shotgun would be a nightmare to deal with. Especially since she only had a pistol and a few throwing knives to go with her sniper rifle. But then again she did want to get out of her comfort zone, that was part of the reason she decided to stay in Gotham. For a challenge.
