Chapter 11: A Transaction with March-chan!
She raised a hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, her clear voice carrying a faint, sad smile. "You really don't have to worry about me. I'll just stay here."
Ren sighed. It seemed her mindset hadn't changed. "Yukino, you're too naive. I covet your body. How could I let you die?"
"Do you remember the prompt before entering this game space?"
"Prompt?" Her heart skipped a beat when she heard him say he coveted her body, but she still frowned in thought.
He didn't expect her to remember. "The game space prompted that this is the first game. So, will there be a second, a third? If there is, do you think you can pass safely without becoming stronger?"
His words made her fall into deep thought. It made sense. Her first reaction was to want to act with him, but she realized she was too weak and might drag him down. Clenching her fists, the strong-willed Yukino felt unwilling. She wanted to thank him, but she couldn't do anything. If it came to that… perhaps I could only offer myself…
Ren, on his side, was pondering. It would be great if she could have a way to kill zombies from a distance. But the guns in the store required points. Suddenly, he thought of the Chat Group. His eyes lit up.
[Ren: @March 7th, March-chan, are you there?]
[March 7th: This Girl is here! Do you need anything?]
[Ren: Are you still at Herta Space Station?]
[March 7th: Yes, the Express is still docked.]
[Ren: I want you to help me get a weapon from Ms. Herta or Asta. The requirements should be simple: small, like a handgun, long-range, plenty of energy, and capable of blowing up a human head with a normal shot.]
[Saeko Busujima: Is Ren-kun going to use it to fight zombies?]
[Ren: That's right.]
[Exusiai: What do zombies look like?]
[Ren: Like this. [Image].]
[Exusiai: Ugh, how disgusting.]
[March 7th: Eww. Your request doesn't sound too difficult. Let This Girl go ask!]
A moment later, she replied. [March 7th: Got it! Asta gave it to me! A handgun powerful enough to blow up a head, and it recharges with solar energy.]
[March 7th: I'll send it now.]
[Ding! March 7th has sent Ren a private red packet!]
[Ding! Ren has claimed it!]
[Ren: Thanks, March-chan.]
[Ding! Ren has sent March 7th a private red packet!]
He also sent her a red packet with 500 doomsday points as payment.
"Eh!" Yukino's eyes widened. A blue, futuristic gun suddenly appeared in his hand.
"Try this. It's a new weapon," he explained, following March 7th's words. "A solar-powered, rapid-charging energy gun." A strong sense of sci-fi came rushing forth.
He moved the cabinet aside and opened the door. Zombies had gathered. Since it was daytime, they were sluggish again. "Try shooting." Ren took her hand and aimed the gun.
The warmth of his hand pressed against hers, his breath brushing her neck. Just looking at his expectant gaze, she couldn't say anything. She gripped the handgun and pulled the trigger. A blue energy bullet hit the zombie in the chest. Bang! Its body exploded.
"This… is amazing!" she was stunned. It was incredibly powerful with no recoil.
"Very good. Now you can clear them out with me." He took her hand and started moving. She felt the warmth and instinctively gripped it tighter.
"Thank you for helping me so much. If you need anything, please tell me, and I will repay you."
He looked back with a smile. "I lust for your body."
"…" Yukino didn't answer. She just followed him, blushing, but her mind seemed to be thinking about something.
For the rest of the day, Ren cleared the path in front using his Yin Thunder, while Yukino followed, using the energy gun to clear out the excess. His Vector Manipulation also came in handy. The clearing speed was incredibly fast.
