Chapter 24: The Falling Bath Towel, Is Yukino a Divine Beast Too?
Yukino, the Ice Queen, appearing so cautious and annoyed, actually piqued his interest. He mischievously curled the corner of his lips. "But didn't you invite me? Why? To let me admire your beautiful, post-bath appearance? I must admit, it's very alluring."
"You… don't talk nonsense anymore!" Her ears and cheeks were already burning red.
Seeing she was getting agitated, he stopped teasing. He got straight to the point. "Tell me, what happened?"
Seeing him retract his heated gaze, she gradually calmed down. After a long sigh, she held her bath towel with her left hand and pulled him with her right, disregarding the issue of shoes. He casually closed the door behind him.
She led him to the bathroom. The door was closed, water stains on the floor outside. It was clear she had rushed out. She pointed to the door and whispered, "Inside… there's a monster."
"What kind? Scarier than zombies?" he was surprised.
"It… is very different."
At her signal, he pulled open the door. A black, hideous, worm-like monster was plastered right in front of them. Its body had dozens of intertwining arms and hundreds of moving eyes, all scrutinizing them. From its mouth, it hoarsely mumbled, "Can you see? Can't you see? No, you can't see!"
Being so close, Yukino's body trembled, and she unconsciously gripped his hand.
Unexpectedly, he showed no fear, instead saying with disappointment, "Sigh, I thought it was something, but it's just the weakest kind of evil spirit. How boring."
He squeezed her hand to calm her, then suggested, "Yukino, do you want to try if your ability can deal with it?"
If her ability could, then she wouldn't be afraid anymore. Under his gaze, she lightly raised her right hand.
This caught the evil spirit's attention. Its hundreds of eyeballs glared, and it roared, "You can see! You must! I'm going to eat you!" Its twisted body lunged.
Feeling the warmth and sense of security in her hand, she wasn't afraid. Her eyes sharpened. "Ice!"
Seven or eight ice cones, each thirty to forty centimeters long, condensed in the air. As the evil spirit's hand reached out, they shot forth. When they pierced its body, there was no sound, but the attack was effective. Its form froze, then its body began to freeze from where it was pierced. The ice spread until it was completely frozen, then shattered. Black matter and ice dissipated together.
"It worked!" she clenched her fist, excited. She had just forgotten one thing. Her left hand was holding his. Her right hand was active. At this moment, her bath towel was no longer secured. It was only tied in a knot. And her figure was rather unremarkable. It simply couldn't hold it up. Coupled with her movements… unsurprisingly, the towel slipped.
Her snow-white, delicate body was completely exposed before his eyes.
"…" Ren was stunned.
Yukino was stunned, scared stiff. Her brain had short-circuited.
After Ren had admired every inch of her, she finally reacted. Just like Exusiai, there was no scream. The difference was that Exusiai had cheerfully asked him to leave. Yukino, on the other hand, calmly covered her chest with both hands. She didn't dare to move. Her cheeks were flushed, yet she said coolly, "Could you please turn around?"
"Ah? Oh! Okay!" he quickly turned. He had already heard the suppressed tremor in her voice.
