*Swish*
*Swish*
The sound of claws and teeth scraping against rock echoed all around, making the tension instantly palpable. As the shadowy figures all rose to their feet, Ash and his group saw some old acquaintances.
Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, Omastar.
There were over twenty of them in total, forming an encompassing circle around the group.
These were the very Fossil Pokémon he had caught within the deep pit of the Grand Canyon. They were true living fossils, thousands of years old, who had evaded the shackles of time to survive to the present day.
Seeing them again today, Ash noticed that these Fossil Pokémon seemed to have grown a bit in size, their muscles fuller and brimming with power.
Although they still stared with a pair of blood-red eyes, this time it was from activating their prehistoric bloodline's power out of hostility. It wasn't like before, when their eyes were simply bloodshot from the exhaustion of sleeping for too long.
"Looks like you're all living well here," Ash said with a smile.
The condition of this group of Fossil Pokémon was excellent, clearly much better than their drained appearance in the Grand Canyon's deep pit. This set Ash's mind at ease.
He had been worried that Professor Oak would subject them to high-intensity, reckless research, which would have been detrimental to them.
"Hey, you all remember me, hahaha!! You, you, and the one over there with the chipped scythe, I'm the one who caught you. Haha, you've been doing well, right!"
Ash took several steps forward, greeting them exuberantly.
Brock and the others: "?"
This prehistoric, desolate aura filled the air with murderous intent. It was obvious they were hostile and dangerous. Hadn't he seen that all the normal Pokémon in the area had already fled?
And you're over here saying hello?
Without their own Pokémon at their side, the three of them, both impressed and bewildered, quickly backed away, putting some distance between themselves and the grinning Ash.
It was Todd Snap's first time seeing these prehistoric Pokémon. Although a chill ran down his spine, he still raised his camera, frantically taking pictures even as he retreated.
"Holy cow... He caught Articuno, and he also caught these prehistoric Pokémon. Ash has been hiding his strength so well..."
Todd Snap turned his head, once again stunned by Ash.
And these Fossil Pokémon were likely the rarest kind, the ones with a dense prehistoric bloodline. Each one had incredible potential.
"What's wrong? Is there anything to be scared of?"
Ash looked at his retreating companions, then swept his gaze over the red-eyed Fossil Pokémon before him, waving his hand dismissively.
"It's fine. I caught half of them. They won't hurt anyone."
He even tossed out a handful of Sitrus Berries.
Food was always the best way to improve one's relationship with a Pokémon.
Sure enough, as the Sitrus Berries hit the ground, many of the Fossil Pokémon were tempted and began to move forward to pick up the food.
"ROAR!!"
Just as the group of Fossil Pokémon was about to act, a long cry suddenly came from the distant sky. It was like a roar from an ancient era, thundering in everyone's ears like a violent, explosive peal that sent them all stumbling back several steps.
*Swish* *Swish*
This cry and aura sent a wave of panic through the Fossil Pokémon. No longer daring to pick up the Sitrus Berries, they scattered and retreated, vanishing completely into the grassland in a matter of moments.
What happened?
Before Ash could react, a massive black shadow fell from the sky, covering him. It was a shadow with wings, and they were still flapping.
Instantly, a murderous intent of the utmost intensity blanketed the area. For a moment, the entire grassland seemed to transform into a blood-soaked hell, leaving only a sea of red.
"..."
Brock and his two companions were terrified, their bodies trembling uncontrollably under this brutal, bloodthirsty aura.
Even Ash, standing at the very center, was the same. This aura was exceptionally strong. His expression became pained, beads of sweat dripped down his face, and for a moment, he was frozen to the spot.
What a terrifying aura...
Ash had encountered many terrifying auras on his journey, yet he was still stunned.
"ROAR!!"
With another roar, the Pokémon in the sky gave a mighty flap of its wings. It lowered its body, tucking its wings into an arrow-like shape, and suddenly charged straight for Ash. Its speed was incredible, the friction between its body and the air creating a series of sonic booms.
*Hiss*
As the powerful air current rushed toward him, Ash's pupils shrank. He hesitated no longer, biting down hard and tearing a gash on his tongue. The instantaneous pain finally broke him free from the shackles of fear.
He immediately rolled to the side, dodging the attack at the last possible moment.
The attack whistled past him. Kicked-up sand and leaves grazed his cheek, stinging painfully. He could only imagine what would have happened if he had been hit head-on.
"Dammit."
Ash pushed himself up from his roll and turned to face the Pokémon that had attacked him.
It was a grayish-brown Pokémon, its entire body like hard rock. Its body was part bird, part beast, with a pair of broad wings sprouting from its back. At the joints of its wings grew claws like Stone Edge.
Its head, wings, hind legs, and back were all covered in strange, rock-like spikes. Its expression was fierce and domineering, a pair of blood-red pupils glowed with red light, and its entire body was wreathed in the powerful aura of an ancient, fierce beast.
The Sky Overlord, Aerodactyl!
This was the prehistoric Pokémon that he and Gary had used all their strength to catch in the Grand Canyon, a creature whose prehistoric bloodline concentration was a full 100%.
Furthermore, according to Professor Oak, its body structure was already in a Half-Step Mega Evolution form. It could be called a uniquely gifted creature!
"Aaargh!"
Aerodactyl flapped its rock wings and slowly descended onto the lawn. Its physique was considerably larger than Pidgeot's. A pair of eyes, like those of a giant eagle or a fierce bird of prey, were locked tightly onto Ash.
"Looks like you're in pretty good spirits."
Ash wiped the dust from his face, showing no weakness as he met its gaze directly.
It seemed that after a period of rest, this Aerodactyl had returned to an excellent condition. Its every move held the bearing of an ancient sky overlord, enough to make one shiver with cold fear.
"Do you remember me?"
Upon hearing this, Aerodactyl's gaze deepened. The red light in its eyes did not fade, but instead grew even more intense.
It did, in fact, have an impression of Ash.
The human who had cooperated with another to defeat it while it was in a weakened state, and had even used a Luxury Ball to catch it.
The Luxury Ball served to increase the intimacy between a trainer and their Pokémon. To be honest, Aerodactyl really wanted to swallow Ash whole right now, but the existence of the Luxury Ball gave it a mysterious sense of intimacy toward him.
"Aaaargh!!"
Aerodactyl stretched its neck and let out another roar at Ash. Its eyes instantly turned blood-red, and even its grayish-brown rock body became enveloped in a layer of red-light energy, forming a beastly aura that coated its surface.
Blood-red eyes and a beastly aura, appearing on its body at the same time!
Instantly, the ancient, desolate intent intensified. The air once again grew murderous. The air current that scraped across their faces stung with a burning heat.
This was something only a Pokémon with an incredibly high concentration of prehistoric bloodline could accomplish, yet Aerodactyl did it with ease.
"RAAAGH!!"
To think that it, of all creatures, had been caught by a human. It was the ultimate humiliation!
The surging of its prehistoric bloodline left only a single thought in its mind.
Eat him!!
Yes, eat him. Let his flesh and blood mix, becoming its own tissue and cells, coexisting within a single body…
This was the highest realm of intimacy!!
At this thought, saliva began to flow from Aerodactyl's mouth—the drool of a dragon.
Ash: "?"
