Chapter 288 - Chapter 287: Dragon as Bow, Ash as String

Chapter 287: Dragon as Bow, Ash as String

by Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

"?"

Ash's brow furrowed deeply. He felt as if the glowing red beast before him wanted to devour him whole. The most bizarre part was the puddle of drool it had left on the ground. He subconsciously reached for the Poké Balls on his waist.

But aside from Red's retirement squad, he had already sent out all the others.

Right, there was still Pikachu!

He could always trust his Pikachu!

"..."

A glance from the corner of his eye revealed an electric mouse sleeping soundly a safe several dozen meters away from the group. Ash instantly abandoned the thought.

The moment you start trusting Pikachu, you've already lost...

"Hmph!"

He then took a large step to the side, a bold arrogance rising in his heart. His gaze met the Aerodactyl's directly, a fire burning within his eyes, and he flipped his cap backward.

Pikachu was just for fun. When it came to real fighting, he had to rely on himself, the Trainer!

One man, one dragon. They faced off in a tense stalemate, their auras steadily climbing.

"What's going on?"

Witnessing this, Todd Snap was completely bewildered, having no idea what Ash intended to do.

He was out of Pokémon, yet he wasn't running. Was he planning to go up and fight it himself?

*Haha, how could a human possibly—*

Halfway through his laugh, Todd Snap froze. He suddenly remembered that video.

"New guy, I suggest you get that DSLR running right now. You've got your material for this year's Ecruteak City Ho-Oh competition."

Beside him, Brock's eyes widened, his usual slits opening up. In his hand, he held the Pokédex he had just swiped from Ash's belt, its video recording function already active.

*Looks like I'll have to buy my own 5G camera phone next time. It's not right to always use someone else's Pokédex, and this thing is laggy as hell.*

The most ridiculous part was that just by turning on the recording function, the CPU fan started to spin.

But that wasn't a big problem. His "Congolese Black Uncle" video account would finally have a new upload!

A new account on the P-site had shot to fame with a single video—"Precious Footage of Early Humanity Taming a Wild Articuno"—amassing 100,000 fans.

Brock was confident that after today, he would become a major uploader with 500,000 fans!

Next year, he'd be one of the P-site's Top 100 Uploaders. The future was limitless!

He had even come up with the title already, continuing in the same vein.

*Precious Footage of Early Humanity Taming an Ancient Sky Overlord.*

Seeing this, Todd Snap didn't dare to be careless. He quickly raised his DSLR camera and focused the lens on the space between the man and the dragon.

"Swish—"

A leaf, carried by a gust of wind, fluttered down. The Aerodactyl was the first to move. With a powerful flap of its broad wings, it launched itself into the sky. In mid-air, it tucked in its wings, turning its entire body into an arrow that shot forward as a sonic boom tore through the heavens.

"Bring it on!"

A smirk played on Ash's lips. His adrenaline surged, and his mind entered a state of intense focus. Gradually, the Aerodactyl's movements began to slow in his eyes.

"Thud!"

Ash didn't dare to face it head-on. He dodged again with a roll to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. The terrifying impact left a shattered trench in the ground.

The Aerodactyl circled back up, then immediately turned 180 degrees for a second attack on Ash, its rocky body making a chilling sound as it cut through the air.

In the mind of a prehistoric Pokémon, there were no complicated schemes. Since the human wasn't using any fancy moves, neither would it.

This was now a battle of flesh against flesh!

"Swoosh!!" "Thud!!"

"Swoosh!!" "Thud!!"

This repeated several times, with the Aerodactyl diving from high in the sky and Ash merely rolling away to dodge, leaving him at a disadvantage.

Yet the speed of them both was incredible, far surpassing that of a typical Pokémon battle.

"Hey, this doesn't look good..." Todd Snap and Misty grew anxious. All defense and no offense—he was bound to lose sooner or later.

"Well, Ash is still a Trainer, after all. It's not right for him to fight alone. He needs a Pokémon's help."

"So we should call Pidgeot back and have it stand in the Trainer's spot to give Ash a buff?"

"Now you get it."

Soon, the battle changed in an instant. After Ash used his speed to dodge several attacks in a row, the Aerodactyl grew irritated. It decided to stop its high-altitude dives and instead land, switching to a ground assault to engage in continuous close combat.

"I was waiting for this!"

This time, Ash's actions finally changed. Evading the final dive, he seized the opportunity. His body sprang forward like a cheetah, and he leaped forcefully onto the Aerodactyl's back.

Riding on top, Ash didn't puff out his chest proudly as he would when taming a wild Rapidash. Instead, he bent his arms and thighs, clinging to the Aerodactyl's body like a crisscrossing octopus.

He even used his mouth, biting down on the Aerodactyl's neck, but it was so hard he instantly chipped a tooth.

"RAWRR!!"

The area in front of it was the Aerodactyl's kill zone, but its back was a complete blind spot.

Unable to reach him with its wings or teeth, it was momentarily stunned. It could only struggle madly, its rocky wings flapping as it thrashed about in mid-air.

But Ash held on with all four limbs, the force so great that the Aerodactyl began to feel a sense of suffocation.

*What the hell? I was only asleep for a few thousand years. Have humans evolved this much?!*

"RAWRR!!"

The Aerodactyl grew more frantic, thrashing back and forth in the sky, sometimes soaring high, sometimes diving toward the ground, clearly disgusted by Ash's restraining tactic.

"Rawr!"

Suddenly, the Aerodactyl devised a strategy. It flew straight up into the sky, seemingly struggling, but secretly maneuvering its still-free, arrow-tipped rocky tail.

The tail rose, its sharp point aimed directly to stab at Ash's lower back. Its sharpness rivaled a Charmeleon's Throat Chop.

One strike could pierce a kidney, leaving this human unable to care for himself for the rest of his life, forced to carry a urine bag wherever he went.

"Swoosh—"

This was an attack from behind. Ash couldn't see it, but he could hear a whistling sound by his ear. A sense of danger flared in his heart. Ash quickly released his arms and legs, pushed hard against the Aerodactyl's back, and rebounded away, causing the tail thrust to stab into its own body.

"Clang!"

Rock clashing against rock produced a massive clang, inflicting a grievously minor wound.

But feeling the restraint on its body gone, even the Aerodactyl's fierce face showed a hint of joy. It thought to itself that now it was on guard, it would never let this guy bind it from behind again.

"Thump!"

But in the next second, as gravity pulled Ash's body down, he once again successfully latched onto the Aerodactyl's back.

Aerodactyl: "..."

It instantly flew into a rage and was about to raise its tail to stab Ash again.

*Huh?*

*Why can't I even move my tail this time?!*

Through the corner of its eye, it saw that Ash, having landed again, was now completely upside down!

He had wrapped his thighs around the Aerodactyl's abdomen, while his arms shot out like a dragon's claws, locking onto the base of the arrow-like tail and preventing it from exerting any force.

"Hmph, I don't care if you're some overlord of the sky! I'm a Pokémon Master!"

With a furious roar, Ash's arms suddenly tensed. He forcibly yanked the Aerodactyl's tail toward its back. For a moment, it felt an irresistible force. Its belly was involuntarily pushed forward while its head and lower limbs bent backward, forming a concave curve.

This shortened the distance between its own neck and tail from a possible two meters to now less than one.

"Crack!!"

Ash instantly released his legs from their tight grip on the Aerodactyl's abdomen. Kicking off the air itself, he put his core into it, whipping his body through the mid-air like a long rope.

Using this momentum, he raised his legs half a meter and successfully wrapped them around the Aerodactyl's neck. A choking sensation immediately gripped the creature's throat.

Now, the inverted Ash held its tail with his hands and clamped its neck with his legs, forcing the Aerodactyl into an extremely bizarre posture in the air.

This was precisely: Dragon as Bow, Ash as String.

From a distance, a great crescent bow had suddenly appeared in the sky!

"Holy..." Brock muttered.

"I... I think I'm into this," Misty stammered.

"This is just too ridiculous..." Todd Snap concluded.

The three of them were completely stupefied, staring blankly at the great bow in the sky.
