Chapter 20 - Spectator mode

They thought he wouldn't notice.

It was a closed lobby.

No map name.

No voice.

No buy menu.

Just a spectator slot.

"Test server – spectator access only."

Blanco loaded in anyway.

Why?

Because silence doesn't wait for permission.

🌀 LOADING…

MAP: DEEPDRAFT

Status: Observer Mode Locked

Players: 10

Match: LIVE

His screen loaded black.

Then grey.

Then—

POV: FLOATING CAMERA

Standard top-down.

He could scroll.

Zoom.

Watch.

He could even hear the footsteps.

Feel the recoil.

See their crosshairs drift under pressure.

It felt wrong.

Too sharp.

Too much access.

Then it hit him.

At the edge of the screen—

past the B site arch—

stood a player model.

It wasn't moving.

No name.

No team color.

But the model had no gun.

Just a pulse.

And every 8 seconds…

it shifted 2 inches sideways

without animation.

[SYSTEM ALERT]

You are not observing.

You are being observed.

Blanco moved his mouse.

Clicked instinctively.

Nothing happened.

But the player model at the edge of the screen turned its head.

Then a message blinked:

"Enter the feed?"

He clicked.

Screen went black.

Then:

[ENTERED: GHOST POV]

He was now inside the match.

But not on the scoreboard.

No team affiliation.

No buy wheel.

No killfeed.

Just him.

A pistol.

And a presence.

Round 6 – They Finally Noticed

A player named ZAN froze mid-rotate.

"Someone's in spawn."

"You AFK?"

"Nah… someone was watching me."

Blanco stood behind him.

Didn't move.

Didn't shoot.

Just let him feel it.

ZAN turned—

Nothing there.

But on replay?

He was staring directly at Blanco.

Round 7 – The Ghost Moves

Mid-push.

2v2.

Blanco drifted across top ledge.

No noise.

No shadow.

Snuck behind the planter.

Raised the pistol.

One shot.

Planter dropped.

No name on killfeed.

No tracking.

Other players panicked:

"yo! what just happened?"

"I think I lagged."

"who shot him?!"

Replay bugged.

Kill cam froze.

Sound glitched.

[SPECTATOR ERROR 504]

"Event Not Found"

[System Trait Triggered: Hidden Participant]

• When not on team, player cannot be spectated

• Kills count as environmental error

• UI refuses to log presence

"You don't just watch from outside the match.

You hunt from inside the code."

Round 8 – Panic Spreads

Opponents stacked spawn.

Stopped rushing.

Started questioning.

"Did we get hacked?"

"Why's the kill cam skipping?"

"Yo someone's playing ghost ops."

Blanco now walked through walls.

Corners didn't stop him.

Delay didn't affect him.

He wasn't cheating.

He wasn't real.

He was in spectator mode —

but still playing.

Final Round – 9–6

Blanco had killed 4 total.

All off-camera.

All unexplained.

This time?

He stood in the middle of the map.

Let them see him.

Let them aim.

Nobody could shoot.

Click.

Lag.

Desync.

Timeout.

He walked forward.

Knifed the last player.

Match crashed.

System message blinked:

"Spectator breach detected.

Player GHOST#000 is not registered.

Player GHOST#000 is not real."

KICKED.

But on the match replay,

he was never visible.

Only thing on cam?

A pause.

A frame freeze.

A glitch.

Then black.

[System Trait Acquired: Observer Override]

• Can enter matches as an invisible presence

• Kills not recorded

• Match ends upon direct reveal

"When the camera watches, you rewrite it.

You are not the player.

You are the glitch behind the kill."

Ciscord post:

"Replay corrupted. 5 players dead. 1 crash.

Can someone explain this?"

Top comment:

"If you see him while you're spectating…

You were never spectating.

You were part of his match."
