Chapter 55 - CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN: The letter

At 2:16 a.m., Daniel received a knock on the door of his hotel suite in Abuja.

No one knew he was back in town.

He opened it cautiously.

A hotel staff member handed him a thick envelope.

"This was dropped off for you, sir. No name."

Daniel tore it open.

Inside was a single, aged sheet of paper folded twice and a flash drive.

He sat down and read.

"Daniel,

I thought you were the love of my life. But I was wrong. You never defended me. You never chose me when it mattered.

So I chose to fight back."

—E.

Daniel loaded the flash drive into his laptop.

A video began to play.

It was Esther sitting in what looked like a recording studio, her voice steady, her eyes venomous.

"This is the story of how I lost Daniel. And how I decided to ruin everything he loved in return."

Daniel felt the floor shift beneath him.

She'd recorded everything.

Her manipulation. Her plan. The lies fed to Nadine. The connection to Uche's family. Even her conversations with Cora Greene about pushing Favour's memoir… as fiction.

"You see, Daniel… love doesn't save people. It exposes them."
