Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

It was weekend again,

a Sunday Evening

Millicent walked into the kitchen,

to prepare something for lunch,

Amy approached her with a big smile on her face. "Hey, Millicent!

Striking a confused atmosphere.

Amy spoke

Ummm .....I've been thinking about that recipe you and I saw on TV the other day."

Millicent's eyes lit up with interest. okay...

so Which recipe was that?"

"You know, the one with the crispy chicken and the spicy sauce.

We were both drooled while watching it."

So mom said I should ask if you can prepare it for me.

Millicent chuckled. "I think I know the one you're talking about. It's a pretty popular Asian dish."

Amy nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, and I was thinking, maybe we could try making it together? I've been wanting to learn more about cooking, and I know Ray would love to help out too."

Millicent's expression softened, and she smiled warmly at Amy . "That sounds like a great idea, but I don't think Ray would be wanting to try it out but . I'd be happy we both make it."

I guess Soo...

okay then let's get to work 😃

Together, the both of them set to work in the kitchen, chopping vegetables, marinating the chicken, and stirring the sauce. Millicent guided Amy through the process, offering tips and advice along the way.

As they cooked, Amy couldn't help but notice how much more relaxed Millicent seemed. She was laughing and joking with Amy, and even teasing her good-natured cooking skills.

When the dish was finally ready, they sat down to taste it. Amy took a bite, and her eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, this is amazing!" she exclaimed.

Millicent smiled, looking pleased. "I'm glad you like it," she said.

Amy nodded in agreement, her mouth full of food. "Mmm, it's so good!" she mumbled.

As they finished their meal and cleaned up the kitchen, Amy felt a sense of gratitude towards Millicent. she thought about Ray not liking her and needed to realized that he had been wrong to judge her based on her position in the household, and she made a mental note to be more open-minded in the future

You made my weekend blissful amy chipped in

and Thank you!!! she said

I am going to tell Ray about today's food

I wish he was here..

but he rather prefers working on his Laptop other than spending the weekend with his kid sister

but am not gonna disturb him !

she said In a sad tone

walking into the sitting room, she grasped the TV remote and turned on her favorite channel .

It was past 11pm

Milicent was in the library, trying to get her assignments done

When she heard a loud scream

It was from the right side of the house !!

Amy??

Millicent's heart raced as she rushed to Amy's room, the loud scream echoing in her mind. She burst through the door, but was surprised to see Ray already there.

Ray was kneeling beside Amy's bed, holding her hand and speaking softly to calm her down. Amy was sitting up in bed, her eyes wide with fear and her face pale.

"good evening sir RAY!!

I heard a loud scream from Amy's direction

so I rushed in

what happened?" Millicent asked, concern etched on her face.

Ray looked up at her and shook his head.p "I'm not sure

I was walking by her room and I heard her scream. I rushed in and found her like this."

he said softly trying not to make a fuss.

Amy took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "I had a nightmare," she explained, her voice shaking. "I dreamed that...that something was chasing me and mom.

and it Almost caught up with me

and it looks so scary

Millicent sat down beside Amy on the bed and put a comforting arm around her shoulders. "It's okay, Amy. You're safe now. It was just a dream.

Ray nodded softly in agreement. "Yeah, you're safe. I'm here, and ummm Millicent is here, and mom is fine too okay, I won't watch anything happen to you."

Am your older brother and I love you so much

Amy smiled weakly, feeling a little better. "Thanks, Ray. Giving him a warm hug

I'm sorry to be such a baby."

Jeez Ray chuckled

What are you then

An adult he laughed

Ray reassuringly hugged her tightly. "You're not a baby, Amy. You're a big girl baby.

he said planting a soft kiss on her lips .

" milicent can you stay with Amy I need to freshen up ,more like an order

yes sir Ray i replied

Ray is just fine he said closing the door !

Milicent stood frozen, her breath caught somewhere between her chest and throat. Did he really just say that? She replayed his words in her head — soft, careful, almost human. Ray, the boy wrapped in frost and shadows, had spoken to her like... she mattered.

Her heart fluttered, not from the words themselves, but from who had said them. ever since She had known him he was the boy who never smiled, whose silences spoke louder than words. But just now, his eyes had lingered, his voice carried a note of something fragile — something almost vulnerable.

I know it's because of Amy she mummured.

oh my God did Ray just speak to me I mumbled in excitement sat there in silence for a moment, until Amy slept off.

Something was changing.

And she could feel it... starting with him.

I guess he's beginning to like me thou.....

she was jilted from her thought when

Amy's small frame trembled under the blanket, her brows still furrowed in restless sleep. Though the nightmare had passed, its shadow lingered in the twitch of her fingers and the occasional whimper that slipped past her lips. Her breaths came in shallow puffs, uneven — as if her body hadn't yet convinced her mind that she was safe.

Milicent sat up by her side, &placed one hand gently stroking Amy's hair, whispering soft comforts in the quiet dark. But even her presence couldn't erase the storm Amy had just weathered.

Tears, dried and faint on her cheeks, shimmered beneath the dim light.

Her lips parted now and then, murmuring names — fragments of fear.

And still, she clung to Milicent's hand like a lifeline.

It wasn't peace… but it was something close.

A fragile calm in the arms of someone who wouldn't let go.
