Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Vali: Azazel, You Got Caught Too?

Serafall sat back down.

She had just noticed that the little girl beside Ren didn't seem ordinary at all.

To be fair, even though Serafall and the others are now the Maou of the Underworld, they had never met Ophis before.

After all, strictly speaking, Serafall and the others rose to power during the Underworld's civil war, which led them to become the current Four Great Satans. Azazel, on the other hand, had already been the Governor of the Fallen Angels during the Three Factions War.

So it wasn't surprising that Ophis and Azazel had met before.

Ophis wasn't the type to beat up everyone she met.

"Hey, Azazel, long time no see. Touched?"

The moment he saw Ophis, Azazel nearly had a meltdown.

Why the hell was this old ass here? But thinking back, that massive presence that descended on Kuoh Town earlier had definitely startled all the major powers. Serafall coming here was proof enough of that.

So Ophis showing up here wasn't really surprising either.

The strong are drawn to the strong.

"Of course I'm touched... Didn't expect to see you here, Ophis."

"Ophis... wait! You mean that Ophis?"

Serafall didn't catch it at first, but quickly reacted.

Sure, the name Ophis might be shared by others, but the one here… could only be that Ophis.

Ruling out the True Red Dragon God Emperor who's always drifting through the Dimensional Gap, the one recognized as the strongest in the world, symbol of infinity, the Infinite Dragon God—Ophis.

That little girl she completely dismissed at first turned out to be such a big deal.

Not just Serafall, even Sona and Tsubaki behind her nearly lost their balance.

Was it really okay for nobodies like them to be dealing with someone like this?

Azazel didn't reply, just stared silently at Ophis, his face a mix of shock and disbelief.

But once he saw that Ophis wasn't paying attention to him, he finally let out a breath of relief.

"Kid, you really are..."

He really wanted to say this kid had guts—daring to pull in even the Infinite Dragon God.

Just look, Ren was casually petting Ophis on the head, making both Azazel and Serafall's expressions change again and again.

But Ophis didn't seem to mind. She quietly sat in Ren's lap, even lying down on his chest as Ren fed her crystals one by one.

The scene looked exactly like an adult feeding a child.

"So, Governor of the Fallen Angels, what brings you to my place? Don't tell me you're like the Maou over here, wanting to chat about magical girls and little sisters… I haven't heard anything about you having a little sister, though."

"Hahahaha—Serafall, you're still as cute as ever..."

Hearing Ren say that, Azazel burst out laughing.

Smack!

A loud slap rang out as Sona facepalmed.

Serafall, expressionless, raised her wand threateningly at Azazel.

"Hey hey hey—Ren's still here..."

"It's fine. As long as he can still talk, I don't mind you beating him half to death."

Before Azazel could finish, Ren cut him off coldly.

Serafall's eyes lit up, though she knew better than to actually fight here. A brawl between her and Azazel would cause massive chaos, and this place wasn't suited for that.

"Ahem… Kid, I'll get straight to the point. What do you want in exchange for letting me take Vali?"

Seeing that Serafall backed down, Azazel cleared his throat and got serious.

He only mentioned Vali—not the other low-class fallen angels.

Clearly, Azazel had already given up on the others who caused trouble in Kuoh Town.

In his eyes, even just getting Vali back would require a hefty price.

He definitely included the White Dragon Emperor's Wings in that.

"I wasn't really interested in the White Dragon Emperor at first..."

Ren's words didn't make Azazel feel any better, especially since he said at first.

"But now that he's become my trophy, it'd be weird if we didn't make a deal."

Saying this, Ren snapped his fingers.

He had already guessed that the reason these guys hadn't woken up yet was likely due to Lucemon's interference.

Just like when he got the Red Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet and silenced Ddraig.

After the snap, Vali's sleeping face finally stirred.

His eyelids lifted slowly, and the scene around him gradually came into focus. His mind became clearer.

"This is… I see, I lost? And you're here too, Azazel… which means..."

"That's right, I am—"

"You came to rescue me, but got captured too?"

"Can you not jinx me like that?!"

Azazel snapped back.

"I just thought… you had no chance against that angel. Besides, weren't you peeping while I was getting beaten up!" Vali looked over at Azazel.

Azazel's mouth twitched. He had indeed seen the whole thing because he was worried about Vali.

And that angel clearly wasn't the negotiating type. Vali hadn't even planned to fight, yet she still beat him down, shouting something about "these guys and your armor are local specialties I'm delivering to my master—no way you're leaving!" Azazel realized then that she didn't care what their intentions were—she was just here to wreck them.

To avoid becoming part of the loot himself—and having to pay more later—Azazel stayed hidden and watched Vali suffer.

"Ahem… If I got caught like you, I'd have to pay an extra price."

Vali: "..."

Way too damn honest.

At that moment, Albion, the White Dragon, finally noticed the little girl in Ren's arms.

"Didn't expect to meet you again like this... Ophis..."

"Albion..."

Ophis looked up at Vali and replied faintly.

"Ophis! The Infinite Dragon God Ophis!"

Vali's eyes lit up as he stared at her.

Never thought that after getting thrashed, he'd run into Ophis here.

Before he could say more, Albion stopped focusing on Ophis and instead turned to Ren.

Suddenly, he said something that shocked everyone present.

"You over there, human—I have a question. The red one… did you kill him?"

Azazel: "!!!"

Serafall: "!!!"

Vali: "!!!"

What did they just hear? The Red Dragon Emperor of this generation… is dead!?
