Chapter 7 - Breaking Records… And Probably My Body

"Alright! Let's start with your training! And remember, you will refer to me as 'Sir, '" commanded Draco as he dropped me onto the floor. 'Ouch,' he could've just put me down nicely.

I got up, trying my best not to show that I—really—want to go back home, away from whatever this hellhole is.

"So, let's start with 500 push-ups!" And that's how my God damn torture began.

***

It's been two weeks since my hellish training began. I've not just gotten stronger physically, but mentally too. The first few days were insane; I almost gave up like forty-eight times (though even if I did give up, Draco would probably beat me up and make me still go through that torture…). Nearing the end of those two hellish weeks, it became a part of my day-to-day life, and I became adapted to that torture. Ultimately, I realised that this training was designed to instil discipline in me.

"Well done, Horacio! Now the next two weeks are to be poured into training your ability!" said Draco with an eerily wide grin on his face, as he lowered himself into a crouch facing me. 'I'm worried he's going to use the next two weeks just to beat me up.'

During the previous two weeks, I was forced to be in a ridiculously large room surrounded by white ceramic walls, with one bed tucked far away at the very end of what feels like a kilometre of white marble tiling. Draco called this a "training room". To me, it was more like solitary confinement.

Luckily, the food was great, compliments to the chef. So, my once-stick, pale, and frail body is now lean and muscular. All thanks to the two weeks of torture—thankfully, along with great food.

"Come, Horacio, it's time to take you to your actual room. We'll be starting your ability training tomorrow onwards."

Another thing: Draco and I had gotten much closer than before. Well, I don't know much about Draco yet; I've barely scratched the surface of him. All I know is that he's a very happy guy. Rather, it seems like he's been watching me my whole life, because he practically knows everything. Including the fact that my parents died in a plane crash. I guess that's why he knew my name?

I even learnt that some of the people who work here (excluding Draco) are from other Timelines. Isn't that just insane? Plus, he told me why he didn't kill the Aberrant rank spider. He just wanted to see what I could do. Hu...

Along with that, he explained to me that it's a "Human-to-Error type"; these kinds of Errors are extremely rare, sometimes really powerful, even if it's a low rank.

They are usually created if a Human drinks an Error's blood. Meaning, it was done on purpose. Something is happening behind the scenes here. Something bad.

Draco pressed some numbers on the keypad on the steel door, which was blocking the way out of my cell, and a loud beep was heard as the door slowly opened. We're met with a hallway, filled with people my age, a year or two younger, and older.

I received a few waves along with strange looks. My introverted self kicked in, and I looked down, praying that I would just go invisible or something. "If only my ability would let me go invisible," I muttered.

After turning left, we arrived at a flight of stairs, then began our ascent to the floor above. Eventually, we reached a long hallway with numbered wooden doors on each side.

"These are the dorm rooms, where many members of the organisation reside in these rooms. Your room is just up ahead."

We tread towards room "214". Draco produced a keycard from his blue jean pockets and hovered it above a keycard door lock. "This is your keycard. Keep it safe," he announced as he handed it over to me.

I put it into my pocket. 'Finally, an actual room!' Draco pushed down on the handle.

"Make sure to enjoy your time today! This is the only day you can relax before your training continues!"

I walked in as he closed the door behind me. I looked around, realising that almost everything that I had in my apartment was there. I ran to my phone on the desk. 0% battery. After digging through drawers, I found my charger and plugged in my phone.

I took up one of my books that I was currently reading from the bookshelf, "Alex Rider"; it's quite a fun read. Soon, I got tired, so I put the book back on the shelf. Heading over to the giant bed as I threw myself onto it. I dozed off.

***

My eyes burst open. I was surrounded by trees… And Errors. The rustling and screeches of the Errors. 'What the hell… Where the hell am I?! Is this a dream?' I pinched myself. Surely enough. This wasn't a dream. This is reality. And I'm in big danger right now.

"TIME TECHNIQUE: CREATION" My sci-fi heat blade fell into the palm of my hand. I gripped the handle tightly.

"Welcome, Horacio!" said Draco through a drone hovering above, "Let me explain quickly! You're in an Error field, Error fields have at least fifty Errors, each of a different rank. Your goal is to slay these wretched bastards without dying! Be sure to use the Error gems wisely, who knows, you might get a decent ability, but rather focus on upgrading your ability first! You will learn everything else yourself! Sometimes the best teacher is nature! Enjoy the rest of your two weeks here." And just like that, the drone hovered away. I was once again surrounded by the rustling and screeching of the Errors.

The Error closest to me must have been famished, because it skipped the appetiser and went straight for the "me" course. The other Errors didn't seem keen on sharing the main course amongst them, as they jumped straight for the Error that came for me.

'I can't be that tasty… Right?'
