Synopsis
Nineteen-year-old author Horacio lives a quiet life—or so he thinks. After a sudden, vivid vision of a secret lab, a crazed scientist, and a terrifying doppelgänger named Horacio-V1, everything starts to change. The vision wasn't a dream. It was real. A glimpse into the past… of some "main timeline". In the vision, Horacio-V1—a powerful version of himself—breaks free, kills the scientist who created him, and unleashes chaos. When Horacio awakens, his senses are sharper, reality feels off, and the strange events start to bleed into his normal life. Losing his watch in a gutter seems minor—until it becomes clear that time and identity are unravelling. With no family left, a mysterious past haunting him, and a dark version of himself watching from the shadows, Horacio must uncover who—or what—he is, because this is no game. No retries. This is his life. And time is nearing its end.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

"YES, FINALLY!" screamed a mad scientist in glee as I raised my head. I looked around and saw different equipment. Wires protrude from the equipment to a containment chamber. The chamber contained…something inside of it. A person. At that point, it felt like I was watching a movie through a VR headset.

Sweat trickled down my head. My stomach churned. "FINALLY NOW I CAN GET ALL I WANTED, I CAN GET MY REVENGE," screamed the same scientist at the top of his lungs. He walked up to a control panel and clicked a big red button. Usually, when that happens, you should run. But the scientist just stayed there. Stared in awe as a black silhouette walked down a few steps.

I realised that all this time, the scientist hadn't noticed me. I walked up to him, but still, he doesn't notice me. And then it happens. In a quick dash, the silhouette stabbed the scientist in the guts. I stare at the scientist in pure horror. Then a door slammed open.

"NOOO," screamed a man as he ran towards the dead scientist. This man is also a scientist. Seriously, where am I, and why am I surrounded by nerds? "HOW COULD YOU, HORACIO? YOU WEREN'T PROGRAMMED TO DO THIS!" blurted out the man as he broke down into tears.

I stood frozen. Horacio? My name is Horacio. But that can't be me… My doppelganger cackled in glee. I heard shouts from outside the room. A swarm of guards emerged through the doors, firing at "Me". "I" dodged the bullets in swift movements, almost as if "I" were dancing. "I" dashed forward and began knocking out all the guards. Then the ground began shaking. Loud steps could be heard from outside the room.

Hulk appeared. And no, not the Marvel Hulk; instead, a person who resembles him without the green or red skin. Hulk rammed straight into "Me". Sending "Me" flying into the nearest wall. Then Hulk jumped into the air and smashed straight into "Me. I stare at the fight. It must be the most brutal face-off in history. Blood was splattered all around. Then, even more guards emerged through the doors.

I glanced at "Me". "I" stared back at me. I heard it in my head. "I see you. I was watching you the whole fight, and you may call me Horacio-V1," Horacio-V1 said with his telepathy. "Right, now it's time for me to show what you will soon learn," said Horacio-V1 in my head.

He flicked his fingers. And then the entire room fell silent—everything in slow-motion. Horacio-V1 flew up and stared down at everyone in the room. "Time technique: Reversed time," said Horacio-V1. Everyone in the room disappeared, leaving me and Horacio-V1 behind. I looked around the room like a child looking for a lost toy. "What happened to everyone?" I asked Horacio-V1.

"They are pretty much non-existent for now. If you have any questions…I'm afraid I can't answer them at this moment. As of now, we've run out of time. This isn't a dream nor is it a memory…What you are seeing and witnessing are the happenings in the past of the MAIN timeline," stated Horacio-V1 in a business-like tone. I blink. I'm back in reality, thank god. I got tired of hearing all those cringeworthy powers.
