Chapter 3 - chapter 3

A few days passed. Karz was in the middle of mining. The shock of seeing a man burned to death was still in the air and served as an example of what would happen if someone even tried to raise their voice, let alone rebel.

Suddenly, the sound of something breaking echoed throughout the cave. Everyone looked, and there was Ron, standing with a broken collar in his hand. Ron looked straight at Karz, but it was a gaze of strange amusement. His eyes, however, were peculiar. His pupils were missing, replaced by a pale white color that seemed to cover his entire eye.

"Karz, look closely," Ron spoke without a voice.

"Get back to work!" Red screamed and started walking toward Ron, unsheathing his sword. However, before Red could swing his sword, Ron's hand plunged into the overseer's chest, grabbing his heart. "What's the matter? You also burned someone, didn't you? So it's only natural that you will be burned as well," Ron spoke with malice. Fiery flames erupted from the man's heart and engulfed him. Only this time, they didn't turn him into ashes; instead, they left him alive, slowly consuming him and letting him feel it all as he slowly becomes a charred corpse. A second later, Brown was behind Ron, swinging his axe horizontally, aimed at his neck. Ron grabbed the sword and parried the axe, then plunged his sword into Brown's brain through his eye.

Red's screams were still echoing through the caves. Ron simply looked at Red and tossed his sword toward him. In the next moment, Red picked up his sword and stabbed himself with it to escape the pain of being burned alive. In just a few minutes, both overseers were dead. One was bleeding from his eye and head, and the other was a charred corpse.

""Slaves! Pick up your axes and let's kill the ones who robbed you of your freedom and your past," Ron said, inspiring his whole group.

All but Karz—this whole situation seemed way too off. There were too many questions. How was Ron able to fight so well? How did he use magic? How did he break his collar? What was his goal here? And what's with his eyes? Why are they pale white, devoid of their pupils? And this feeling... the slaves, until tomorrow, hadn't even paid any attention to the fact that the collar prohibited them from accessing their memories, and now it seemed to anger them beyond imagination.

Karz had many questions, but he knew one thing: Ron did something, and he didn't inspire them but instead was giving them all a little push toward madness to follow him and die—so that he could complete whatever he came here to do.

But why was Karz unaffected by it all? As Karz was thinking, he glanced at a dull black rock. It was glowing.

People looked at him and started chanting, "Kill, kill, kill!" Soon, 50 people were running toward other groups to kill the overseers and take back what was theirs with a hint of madness in their eyes.
