scene 1

Lights up. The village of Iwo is calm and picturesque. Traditional mud houses with thatched roofs line the dusty road. Birds chirps softly in the distance. A soft breeze rustles the leaves of nearby trees.

Sandra walks leisurely along the village road, carrying a small basket. she hums quietly to herself, enjoying the peacefulness of the morning.

suddenly, from a short distance behind, a young man-Kenneth-appears. he is dressed casually but neatly, and appears slightly out of breath as he jogs towards her.

KEN:{calling out eagerly} Heeeeey! Beautiful girl, please wait! I want to speak with you!

SANDRA:{stops, turns around cautiously, curious but composed} Ehn? What is the matter? is there a problem?

KEN: No, not at all. i just.....i just need a moment to talk to you if you don't mind.

SANDRA:{Tilts her head slightly, studyinghim} okay. Go ahead.

KEN:{Catching his breath, smiling sincerely} Thank you. My name is Kenneth Olumide. I'm originally from this village Iwo. I just returned from Lagos to visit my parents.

{pauses briefly, then adds proudly} I'm a medical doctor, practicing in Lagos.

{he chuckles lightly} And I couldn't help but wonder... do I also have the honor of knowing you?

SANDRA: I'm Sandra Nino. I live just nearby the junction close to the village square.

{she looks around quietly, a little shy} I'm still in junior secondary school. I've lived in Iwo all my life.

KEN: {turns and faces her, smiling warmly} you're such a beautiful girl, Sandra honestly. you're well-endowed, both in beauty and presence.

{pauses, his tone turning slightly serious} from the moment I saw you, I couldn't take my eyes off you.

{with a gentle but confident tone} please...would you be my girlfriend? I promise to take good care of you. If you'd like, I can even take you with me to Lagos someday.

SANDRA:{Eyes widens slightly at the mention of Lagos. She smiles, clearly excited. Hervoice softens with a mixture of surprise and eagerness} You want me to be your girlfriend....and take me to Lagos?

{She nods quickly, unable to hide her enthusiasm} yes....yes, I will be your girlfriend.

KEN:{Grinning, clearly pleased} Wow! Thank you, Sandra. Thank you for accepting me. I promise, I'll take good care of you always.

SANDRA:{Looks at the suns position and gasps} Oh I have to run now. My mother sent me to buy some things at the market.

KEN: Alright dear, i will see you later when you return.

SANDRA: {Pauses, a little hesitant} But....how will we see? My father doesn't allow any male visitors to come around me. He's very strict.

KEN:{Thinks for a moment, then smiles} Okay, here's what we'll do. When you finish your chores for the day around 5pm. Come to the mango tree near the market square. I'll be waiting for you there.

SANDRA:{Nods eagerly} Okay. I'll come.

Sandra turns and hurries off the market, glancing back with a shy smile. Kenneth watches her go, his expression filled with hope and admiration.

Lights dim slowly as the sound of the village fades into the background. The spotlight rests momentarily on the mango tree in the distance.

SCENE 2

SETTING: Under the mango tree near the village market square, late afternoon.

Light rise slowly. The sun begins to set, casting a golden glow. The large mango tree provides shade and privacy. The area is quiet, the market now mostly deserted.

Kenneth and Sandra sit beneath the tree. Kenneth leans gently against the trunk, and Sandra rests her head slightly on his shoulder. they are relaxed and close, lost in the moment.

KEN: {softly, stroking her hair} My dear.... there's something i want to tell you.

SANDRA: {looks up at him, smiling} What is it, dearie?

KEN: I want to marry you, Sandra. I'm already of age to settle down, and you're the one I want by my side.

SANDRA:{sits up slightly, surprised but composed} Marry? But....I'm still very young. I'm just 15. I still have school to finish. I need to complete my education first.

KEN:{Take her hand, gently reassuring} I understand. And I will wait for you. I love you so much, Sandra. I can't imagine letting you go.

SANDRA:{Touched, shesmiles shyly} Wow... you'll wait for me?

KEN: Yes, I will. I promise.

SANDRA: Then I love you too.

They both sit silently for a moment, listening to the rustling leaves above.

KEN: Sandra, I want you to come see where I stay tomorrow.

SANDRA:{ shakes her head immediately} No... I can't. My mum warned me never to go to any man's house alone.

KEN:{playfully but persuasively} But I'm not just any man, I'm your boyfriend. Your man.

SANDRA:{still hesitant} What about your parents? Won't they chase me away?

KEN:{laughs lightly} No, they won't. They don't stay in the same room with me. In fact, they won't even know you came.

SANDRA:{Thinks for a moment, then nods slowly} Okay... I'll come tomorrow.

KEN: Really? What time should I expect you.

SANDRA: After school, around 4pm.

KEN: What should I get for you?

SANDRA: Biscuit...and mineral.

KEN: Done. I'll be waiting for you.

They both stand, brushing themselves off. They smile warmly at each other.

SANDRA: Let me go now before it gets too late.

KEN: Alright. See you tomorrow, my love.

They wave goodbye and walk off in opposite directions. The camera lingers for a moment on the empty mango tree as the light slowly fades.
