Monica's POV
I sat beside my mother, tears streaming down my face as Darren shared the horrifying details of the call from that unstable woman. Each word he spoke felt like a knife twisting in my heart. After Darren left, Mrs. Dale, Natalie's mother, began explaining to my mother who Vicky Murphy was, while Lily filled them both in on the situation. My mind was spinning, unable to process the flood of information washing over me.
My phone's sudden vibration cut through my thoughts. I answered quickly, instantly recognizing Colin's voice.
"Don't speak. If there's anyone around you, move away. Let me know when you're alone," he instructed, his tone disturbingly calm.
I lowered the phone, rising from my chair with trembling legs. As I approached the door, Natalie's concerned voice called out to me.
"Monica, what's happening? Where are you going?"
